My favorite soap ever. I think I have tried over fifty soaps and this I have used for a year straight.
I used to hate it, then one day I figured it out. The slip is unparalleled.

Williams is my favorite soap and has been for over a year. Its all I have been using for alomst that whole time. I can honestly say nothing beats the shave I get from it.
The 1940s super speed is imo the best razor ever made. You just can not get better balance of weight and blade gap.
I've owned the fat boy for several years and love it but I like the simplicity...
The best adjustable ever made imo. I think you will love it.
Full strength is SO GOOD!
I use the garbage can. Lol
?
When I use chromiun oxide the results are smooth and effortless in the hairs. I'm not sure why chromium oxide would result in harshness.
They didnt have nano grit diamond sprays either and we use those.
Lapping film works and it works well.
I cant help but ask if you tried unicot before giving up on the coticule?
Correct. I also believe you would need more of an angle increase to make a secondary bevel.
Great proof that the unicot method works.
I don't know why this method is not as popular as it should be. Even Bart said he uses it 90% of the time on his razors. If you struggle with dilucot,...
Those Maurichi Nakayamas are getting very valuable, thats a steal!
Amazon.com has 3m lapping film as well.
Shoobeedoobee doo
Do you mean relap the lower arks to keep them fresh but smooth out the surgical black with use?
Thats correct. Search lapping film and you will find a lot of information on it.
Boonshaft
Are you using oil on the stones?
I use the dmt 325 8x3" plate for lapping.
the norton lapping plate isnt flat, I wouldnt use it.
you can also use wet,dry sandpaper and water on a flat surface but I use the plate.
THe norton is a great synthetic stone.
You need to lap it smooth before use otherwise it creates a bad edge. If it's not smooth after one lapping, lap it again, and again, etc.
Synthetics all act the same. Your naniwa will act just like mine for example.
coticules are way different...mine will not be like yours at all. So it can be lonely seeking advise for your particular...
I love coticules and they are my favorite stones but they can be difficult to learn if you don't have a good one.
If you want to buy a coticule, email Ardennes and ask for one FOR RAZORS.
Then in that email ask how they use it for a razor sharpening. You will get answers straight from the source.
For the...
You can call it what you want but people did it before 2009 when these names started flying around.
Sometimes I use just slurry and strop in leather and the shaves are great.
some coticules dont...
A koppa is like a bout is in Belgian hones but in japanese stones.
Great stone!
I don't use dilucot per say or unicot or any other trendy methods to use with a coticule.
I simply set a bevel on my King 1K stone, takes 2-5 minutes, if that on a good razor.
I make slurry on...
Are you using the coticule to set a bevel as well? I had trouble with coticules until I started using a seperate bevel setter to grind in an edge first.
Don,
Why are you frustrated? Can we help you figure things out?
I have a surgical black that puts a crazy polish on a razor, very high finisher, it does not cut much at all only polishes the edge after being sharpened.
It took me a week to lap the damn thing, it...
Me too.
Lather makes the stone act finer hence your results, oil will do this even further but is frowned upon by Ardennes Coticule. When I asked them about oil I was told the long term effects is why they...
Ive been setting bevels on my 1000stone (king) and then fjnishing on just mejiro on my nakayama. Thenni diult to water...try it out.
A well honed razor should not be harsh. I can use chromium oxide on linen and only see improvments, not bad side edfects. If your edge is developing rough spots or chips the chromium oxide will make...
You need a softer but fine tomonagura.
Thats where I got mine, hopefully yours is as effective! Ive purchased two stones from him, one being my very rare Maruichi asagi with nihonkamisori stamp.
Fwiw you can always set a bevel on a 1k stone and then just right to mejiro and finish on that mejiro slurry while diluting.
I do it all the time and the shaves are great. Once you get that down...
I really purchased a softer kiita tomo nagura for my maruichi asagi. It works way better than my ozuku tomo nagura. You may want to seek a kiita stone.
I also found that changing tomo nagura can make a huge difference.
I own an ozuku asagi with matching tomo nagura and the tomo never gives me good results, I have to switch to a different stone to...
They are both La Grise, pretty much everything being sold new from the mine is right now.
Their beer is garbage anyway. Give me Duval.
Sham's 3k stones. X youd have to ask who has one and wants to sell them though. He found rock and had them cut and found they are 3k level stones but are fast, way faster than bbw.
