I am not a big fan of shave sticks and only use them when I travel. However, I like LaToja, Valobra, and Speick versions quite a bit.

I don't have a Franks brush. However, I did pick up a H.I.S. brush which was going to be my travel brush. It's main advantage is how fast it dries. It is a very different brush in terms of feel in...
So true. I have been living in Florida for 15 years, having moved there from the NYC metropolitan area. I originally moved to Delray Beach which is in Palm Beach County. My parents, also New...
No need to buy 100. Razor, Blades and More allows you to buy just 10. You can find that here.
For you new shavers, B&B is running its annual fundraising drive. However, it is coming to an end on Monday. Here is an opportunity to get in on an opportunity to get some fantastic shaving...
Your observation is right on. I prefer to bowl lather but work the lather onto my beard for quite a bit and then leave it on my wet beard for at least a minute.
One other hint to shave under your nose. Use the fingers of the hand not holding the razor to move your nose up and/or to the left and right to get those pesky hairs that are hard to shave.
The first question I have for you is are you getting good shaves from your lather? If so, don't worry about what your lather looks like.
Some folks post photos of lather that drips all over their...
I usually bowl lather and find the 290 and 293 just about the best brushes I have used.
To me the most mild blade is the Derby. However, some folks do not like them because they are not the sharpest. Other blades that are smooth - to me - are the Lord blades and Personna Reds.
For...
Great remedy. And if you don't like the smell, try Thayers WH.
I have been using the Meds or Labs as my primary blade for over a year now. I have a stash of Lords, Personna Reds, Astras, and a few other blades but for me the best shaves come from the Meds or...
Classic Shell is free. You can get more information here.
Incredible giveaway, guys.
Good advice.
Good luck with your R.41. Keep in mind this is an aggressive razor which needs a very gentle touch and the correct angle.
No, it doesn't take that long. But often it takes a year or two for you to go back and try those blades again.
+1. You will be very surprised to find that after a year of two of DE shaving and you technique improves some of the blades that you thought were terrible suddenly become better.
+1. Followed by Osage Rub. However, Alcolado Glacial has a very high alcohol content and for some it burns quite a bit.
However, you can't go wrong with either one.
Stay tuned.
That is one beautiful razor, Harry.
I was wondering about that issue. It seemed relatively easy to me. Drop the blades onto the posts of the head and put the head on the razor. Am I missing something?
Welcome to B&B. At the top of the forum page you will find a sticky, which will give you all the information you need to get a good shave. The information there will insure you will get a good...
Welcome to B&B.
Keep in mind that the cost of some razors is not based on performance but on rarity. Collectors will pay premium prices for certain razors. With that in mind you can't go wrong...
After a while it becomes second nature to you to find the correct angle.
I mean that it looks like the R. 41 but acts like the smoothest razor made.
I recently picked up a Merkur Slant 37C on the BST forum. This week I used it to shave with. The blade of choice was a Personna Med blade.

First, this razor is quite deceptive. The...
My rotation schedule is set since I am a compulsive person. I pick one razor shave with for a week and then go on to the next razor. One week it's a DE the next week a SE or injector. To keep my...
The beauty of the adjustable is the flexibility it gives you. Experiment and see what works best for you. There are days when I dial up the adjustment with each pass and there are days when I keep...
So true. That's why the BST on this site is the tops.
Welcome to B&B. Usually the inflammation you mention are caused by too much pressure on the blade and/or incorrect blade angle. This post may help you. Also, take a look at this wiki. As for blade...
After reading Windows 8 for Dummies it worked OK for me. Glad to hear of the updates, however.
You lucky +**&^!
Pre-shave oil is one of those things that is an individual thing. Some find it helpful and some don't. For me, it has resulted in a better, closer shave without irritation. Pre-shave oil is designed...
Welcome to B&B from another "experience" (my wife forbids me from saying old) traditional shaver. I had been shaving for more than 50 years when I discovered B&B. And then my razors, brushes,...
Good advice. I don't use an R 89 but some razors that are considered relatively mild can still bite.
First, be sure your angle is correct. Take a look here for a good post on angle. Also, no...
I just hope the update will be free and not another cost.
Some additional techniques to consider. That's the beauty of adjustable razors. They give you the most flexibility. Now if there were a SE non-injector razor that is adjustable.
Do whatever works for you. Some pick just one setting and stick with it for all passes. Some pick one setting for different parts of the face or neck and stick with that for each pass. Some start...
Try Shell Classic as a program. It's free and it makes Windows 8 somewhat similar to Windows 7.
