Preamble

TL;DR synopsis = This isn't Instagram, Facebook or Twitter - the goal of this community isn't short form quips, it is to deep dive into long form topics to learn all the ins and outs and build meaningful, lifelong friendships with like folks from across the globe. To that end, if you decide to participate in our community - think about the reputation you'd like to curate. We have a wide array of active long time members that range from well known public figures (although they keep a low profile on the forum) researching straight razors for an upcoming film they're starring in, to gentlemen in college learning how to tie a tie. With that said, the rules can be quickly summed up in just a few pithy statements. Don't be a jerk, don't create conflict, don't be a shill for a specific vendor/product and before you sell things in the buy/sell/trade forum - chat with the group a bit (the barriers are VERY low) so we know you're reputable. Having been around since 2005, we've just about seen it all, so we have a long list of rules below to thwart the "well no one said we can't X" crowd below - but if you simply keep the aforementioned in mind when you post - IE: try to build meaningful friendships, you'll likely never need to read further.

Forum Rules

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. Please make sure that you also read the Forum Etiquette page.

Badger & Blade Terms of Usage

Welcome to Badger and Blade, the premier on-line forum for friendly discussion of a wide array of topics and subjects of interest to a wide spectrum of global members. While this is designed as a community for men to discuss topics generally focused around traditional male interests, we enthusiastically welcome those of all age, race, sex and creed.

This site is filled with the friendliest bunch of people on the internet, dedicated to kicking back, shooting the breeze, and helping each other. Please keep in mind that this is a privately-owned forum. While having fun is the primary goal, there are several rules that the moderators and administrators would like to make clear.

All members
1. Feel welcome! Jump right into the conversation -- a great place to start is by introducing yourself in our New Member Check-in, as well as in the Hall of Fame.

2. Realize that we take great pride in B&B being a work-friendly, internet oasis for courteous behavior. This means that profanity, inflammatory comments regarding politics and/or religion, personal attacks, pornographic images, discussions of illegal or illicit activity, or any other uncourteous behavior as deemed inappropriate by the Administrators/Moderators, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Offenders will be dealt with swiftly. More to the point, if it's likely to be offensive, or if you wouldn't say it to mixed company or to someone in person, it doesn't belong here.

To that end, User Names selected which are contrary to these guidelines subject the user to immediate removal. User names which reference or contain all or any part of a commercial enterprise or business name are expressly forbidden unless the member is a B&B Vendor in good standing.

3. Many of our forums discuss grooming. The process and products used are for the most part non-specific as to what part of the anatomy is being groomed. Topics which broach good taste and seek to discuss specific anatomical grooming details are considered to be a private matter, and will not be discussed here.

4. Comply with the requests of the moderators. We don't interfere unless it's absolutely necessary. We will gladly discuss with you any requests we make. This can be done via private messaging so as to save anyone from any unnecessary public embarrassment.

5. For members other than Vendors, to whom separate rules apply, offers to buy, sell, trade, or otherwise exchange can only be made in our Buy Sell Trade forum (BST). No links or mentions of such offers are to be included in members signatures nor posted in forums other than the BST. New members are welcome to purchase items from the BST forum right away, and may contact sellers via Private Message once they have accumulated 10 posts, but must wait until they've amassed 45 days of membership and 50 posts to use this forum to sell, trade, or post "want to buy" ads.
The BST guidelines are incorporated as part of the Terms of use.
More on the B/S/T Rules here.

The BST forum was not set up as a profit center for individuals. B&B discourages members from only posting sales and not contributing in other forums. To use the BST, the vast majority of your posts should be in the main forums.

Members without a bonafide internet or brick and mortar storefront may also be considered vendors (at the sole discretion of the mod team) and may lose their privileges in the BST forum if they are marking up item prices, or selling large quantities of items on the BST on a regular basis - again, both of these variables are at the sole discretion and classification of the mod team. We welcome members who wish to add further value to the membership of the forum by selling items here in the BST - however this community is not intended to be the free storefront and marketing arm of businesses.

While we enjoy offering the BST thread as a service to our members, we see it as just a small portion of our site's greater good. Problems are incredibly rare, but you should know that transactions in BST are ultimately not the responsibility of B&B, but the sellers and buyers -- caveat emptor!

6. Regarding Pass Arounds and Traveling Boxes:
Authorization from a Moderator is required before initiating or discussing either.

NOTE: No Pass Arounds or Travelling Boxes will be permitted containing any product or item that was not readily available on the open market from a current or historical brand.
Reviews, test results and discussions of experiences with in progress, new or soon to be released products are not authorized at B&B until after the item has been released and is readily available on the open market.

B&B Authorized Vendors are exempt from any requirement of the item to be on the open market and may offer in progress, new or soon to be released items for a Pass Around or Traveling Box, and Members may share Reviews, test results and discussions of experience with a product if it has been supplied by a B&B Vendor.

Pass-around
: Typically a single hardware product passed around to afford members the opportunity to try the item.
Pass Arounds are to only be of equipment privately owned and purchased by the member initiating the pass around unless a B&B Vendor is involved.
The item will travel to a pre-defined list of participants, and when the traveling is completed, the item is sent back to the original member. The content of the pass-around remains the same for the whole process.

Traveling box: Typically small amounts of different commercially available software products from current or historical brands for members to try. The item(s) will travel to a pre-defined list of participants, and when the traveling is completed, the items will be directed to the individual designated by the person initiating the Traveling Box.
A new authorization is required for a new run or extension beyond the pre-defined list.
The contents of the traveling box can change during the process due to members swapping out items with similar items of same or greater value, bearing in mind that overall weight and size of the box should remain similar to start.

NOTE: It should be noted that in both Pass Arounds and Traveling Boxes, items have been stolen by unscrupulous members in the past. Recognize that possibility exists before considering initiating either.
B&B has no liability for loss of any item.

7. To prevent abusive advertisement, no member shall direct other members, either through direct hotlink or indirectly through comments or other means, to any live auctions or other auction sites.

Do not post URLs, item numbers, seller ID's, pictures, descriptions or any similar information unless that auction is strictly a "buy it now" sale with no option available to place a bid.

Members should also use good judgment in posting information that may reference specific active auctions, particularly if the extra attention drawn to it would be unwanted by other members who may be bidding.

Please feel free to discuss auctions only after they are completed.

8. Links to sites that duplicate B&B content - B&B is a free service for our members, and maintains a specific set of rules, posting limitations, and fee structure for those advertising goods, services, and outside information sources such as blogs and sites which have similar content to B&B. Links, redirects or pointing to subjects and content that is similar to B&B content is disallowed. In short, if it's a subject discussed on B&B, links to other sites (including links to blogs) may only be posted by approved and paid vendors.

9. B&B is not an appraisal site. All B&B members, asking and answering, new or old, should be aware that B&B is a community of users. We appreciate the collection of items for their form and function, and valuation of said items is acceptable provided your intent is not resale. Any member which uses B&B as their value and/or identification service with intent to profit will have their membership removed. Any thread that asks for value or identification may be deleted at the sole discretion of the moderator team.
Likewise, aside from Vendors in good standing, and within their own forums, using B&B members as a sounding board for product development isn't permitted. Requesting feedback on your product, or requesting information for any type of research - market, media, or scholastic, is prohibited.

10. This website is based in and governed by the laws of California.

11. Any attempts at promoting gambling, raffles or unauthorized use of this site for fund-raising is strictly prohibited, this would include, but is not limited to such things as charity events, "vote for me/someone I know in a contest", solicitations for medical treatment costs or political campaigns. This means that Kickstarter and any sites like it is also prohibited.

12. Individuals are only allowed to register once. Anyone found with more than one account will lose all membership privileges. If you have multiple individuals in your household that wish to be members and share a network or device, please inform a moderator.

13. Do not submit/post copyrighted materials, pictures or content that you do not own. Badger & Blade is not responsible for, and does not assume liability for the content posted by members of this forum. If you feel an infringement has been made, contact the member that posted the material in question.

14. Badger & Blade is not the appropriate medium to discuss save the whales/badgers type posts. We are a discussion community, not a soap box for ethical debates. Therefore, discussion of the ethics of any product will be removed from the boards by the Moderation Team of Badger and Blade. Similarly, seeking or providing advice or suggestions on medical conditions or treatment in any form is prohibited beyond recommending an individual contact the physician or medical expert of their choice. Discussion of medical conditions is discouraged here, please contact your medical health provider if you desire to talk about the issue.

15. Badger and Blade welcomes all people. We have members from a wide variety of age, race, ethnicity, nation of origin, gender and gender identity and physical ability. What we discuss at B&B has nothing to do with any of those qualifiers. As such, raising those qualifiers as a subject of discussion is discouraged.

Remember that in the end, it's not solving world hunger, it's communicating with like minded people.

Vendors
1. Feel welcome! We are grateful to the several vendors and hobbyists who allow our discussion topics to thrive. We welcome you to post freely on all forums, limiting discussion of your products to the "Vendor Corner" forum or threads in which your products are first discussed by another member.

2. Know that SPAM will not be tolerated on the site, and is grounds for immediate termination of posting privileges. Our definition of SPAM includes frequent discussion of your products outside of appropriate forums/threads, any attempts made to use the site as a means of making personal contact (via PM, etc.) with members who have not specifically sought said contact, and advertisement of items which are, in the discretion of moderators, not in keeping with the purpose of the site.

3. Comply with the requests of the moderators. We don't interfere unless its absolutely necessary. We will gladly discuss with you, via private message, any requests we make.

4. Realize that B&B is unique among forums of our type in that it is B&B policy not to specifically endorse any vendor or vendors. All are welcome, so long as they comply with the terms of use.

5. Vendors are not to use the BST forum to sell their products, or alert members of sales/promotions. Vendors may sell their personal items in the BST.

6. In order to promote their products in the Vendor Items for Sale forum, Vendors must have the appropriate paid membership in place and be a member in good standing. For more information, please contact a moderator to become a vendor.

Overview of the vendor Program
An overview of the program is as follows:

B&B is pleased to present our vendor program. This program has been designed with comments from vendors and members alike in mind, and in keeping with our goal of keeping B&B a site that is not commercially-oriented. We hope that you'll find the program to be easy to use, and beneficial to your desire to provide supplies and services to B&B members. B&B is by far the most active forum of its kind on the internet, with the largest member base by a wide margin. We continue to attract new members as we have consciously broadened our discussion topics to include pursuits far beyond grooming. Despite this impressive growth, we've managed to keep vendor rates quite low, particularly as compared to other internet-based forums and marketing products.

Individuals providing goods or services for profit are free to join the program.

Vendor Subscription Benefits:
