Just picked up a used straight razor and have no idea how to properly clean and sterilize is before using. I'm sure not gonna stick it in an autoclave and really don't want to invest in chemicals dedicatd to the chore (Barbicide for example). Any ideas how to safely clean this spud up using common...

I should preface this by saying for almost the first 20 years of shaving, ever since I was 12 years old, I shaved with cartridges. Sometimes I would shave in the shower no canned goo, sometimes with canned goo, but never very often or comfortably. Fast forward to sometime last year and a work...

Got a bit cocky and paid the price. My first shave was good, only one nick and irritation free. Second shave however, I went too aggressive and too much pressure. Several nicks and burn the fire department couldn't put out. Learned my lesson, that little beast is a handful if you're not careful.
