So what's your next knife going to be?
Please post a pic, too. These sorts of threads are more fun with photos.
I have really only finished on completely so far(a infant in the house doesn't leave much time) but I have ground and heat treated quit a few. I also found a vintage 110v heat treat oven in our local paper for cheap, it works like a champs too. I prefer 1095 carbon steel with a hamon to the new high tech stainless steels. Let me know what you think. Most of the pictures are just of my hamons but since the don't have scales that's about all that matters. Sorry for the giant pictures.

There were plenty of minnows splashing about. I also got to see a muskrat swimming around doing muskraty stuff. There were several big splashes further out in the creek.

Here's the tally:

1 catfish
1 small bass
3 minnow in the trap

I only bothered to take a picture of the cat. It's a shoe size 11 in length. (Got to love unscientific standards of measurement)

He's basically kayaking up the west coast of Canada, and portaging across a mountain pass from AK into Canada. Then taking the Yukon river through Alaska (With a very difficult detour to his old cabin) to the Bering Sea. Then down the Bering Sea to and taking another river upstream into a lake, then onto Anchorage.

Read more about it, and see his progress here. He's carrying a GPS that updates a map so you can track his position, and where he's been. So far, he's up/over the Chilkoot Pass, and into the Yukon River in Canada.

About a year ago I decided that my Mazda 2 needed a roof rack. After much deliberation I decided on the Yakima Whispbar, which has been a great choice for the most part. It's shockingly quiet, and has had surprisingly little impact on my fuel mileage. I was also drawn to the T-slot mounting system, which I thought would be a benefit. I'm quite happy with the bars and will be keeping them.

My problem is that no accessories really fit on it. I can strap surfboards and other bulky items to the bars with no problem, the issue is bikes. Because of the aerodynamic profile of the bars you can't get the standard accessories, I had to get the Forklift Aero (a universal-fit bike mount). This wouldn't be a problem except that on my ultra-short roof I have to mount it backwards if I want access to my hatch. Yakima was supposed to have released a product to fix this, but in the year they haven't delivered.

My question is this. Does anyone know of a t-slot mounted bike rack that has a tray that is forward and backward adjustable? I want to get away from the universal mounts as they're clunky, slow, awkward, and have far too many parts.

I know this probably isn't what you guys deal with, but I need some help.

I'm a college student leading a homeless ministry, and I'm just wondering if you could give me some recommendations as to affordable sleeping bags, and where to get them. Up to this point, I've been buying sleeping bags from www.woot.com when they go on sale, however, it's been a while since I've seen them last. I've been lurking on this site, and bought my first little wet shaving set (VDH soap+brush from walmart, Gillette tech, blade sampler), before I stumbled across this section of the forum.

Ideally, the price range would be 20-30 dollars. I'd love to be giving out more high quality ones, but that also means I'd be handing out less :[

Thank you for your time,
I want to be able to use this rig to throw bait rigs in the surf as well as maybe some lighter stuff in the bays. I don't need to be able to throw really light lures because I have a freshwater rod I would could use for that. I don't fish saltwater often so I want to keep the price pretty low, preferably under $75. I have found plenty of spinning rods that fit these criteria like Daiwa Sealine and Okuma Longitude but I can't find any casting rods that would fit these criteria. Anyone have any suggestions?
