Anyways, here is my new (to me) Cervelo P1 road/triathlon bike. I pick it up tomorrow and cant wait. I have very little road bike experience, but cant wait to get out on the road and off the trainer at the gym. I will have to pick up some shoes, and will be booked in to have it fitted properly in the next couple weeks.
Any info/tips/comments are welcome :001_smile

My name is David, and I am skinny-fat.

A few years ago, I got serious about my health/weight/body image and started eating right and exercising to ultimately lose 40 pounds. As of today, I am 5'-7" and 160 pounds. The weight is still off, I still eat right (mostly), and I still exercise (though with less intensity now that I'm mostly happy with my appearance). However, I'm a skinny-fatso. If you were, God forbid, to look at me shirtless, you would see leanness and muscle definition in my arms, chest, upper torso, back, and neck. But there is a stubbornly persistent ring of fat around my lower stomach right above my waistline.

I have been unable to get rid of it with any amount of exercise, but I realize that perhaps I just am not focusing my energies in the right way. Are any of you guys skinny-fat? Better yet, WERE any of you skinny-fat and able to rid yourselves of it? Looking forward to your thoughts.

After a lot of years of long distance running in cushioned shoes plus orthotics I begin having problems. Feet were hurting, lower back was painful, cramping in the calf that would not go away. My doctor suggested "Muscle Activation Therapy". After one session my back pain was mostly gone. This was after over ten years of pain. In my discussions with the trainer he suggested that problems I have been having including the back pain could very well stem from my running shoes. He is not a fan of orthotics (never mind that the price for custom made one is a total rip-off) - they don't allow the foot to do what it was designed for. He suggested barefoot running shoes. Lots of interesting information on the web with regard to this type of shoe. I went to a running store the specialized in barefoot running. I bought a "transition" shoe and was told just to walk in them - a very slow break-in period. (I am not running until the trainer takes care of the calf problem). I started walking a quarter mile and am now up to over one mile. I won't go into all the benefits since they can be found on the web. Let's just say I feel very good walking. The complete transition to these shoes could take several months. Anyone have these types of shoes? If so what are your opinions?

Well, after about a decade of having other priorities, I am trying to get myself back into shape. I have always been a bit husky, so my goal is not to be a model...rather, I just want to feel better. So I have started going to the gym and I have realized just how weak I have become.

I am currently 30 years old, 5'10", and 257 LBS. My wife recently lost 40 lbs so she is my inspiration; interestingly she did this with diet only.

My goals are a bit different. I would like to be 225 LBS but much stronger than I currently am.

My nutrition is much better than it has ever been (again, the wife's doing) and I am taking a GNC multivitamin, drinking plenty of water, and going to the gym three times a week. My workouts are mostly cardio intensive, but I started lifting weights last week (and was sore as hell the next day).

Any advice or encouragement you all can provide would be great. I am going to post weekly to provide updates on my status.

I don't know jack about golf. and don't feel like registering on a golf forum just to figure out more info about my clubs.

In my unprofessional opinion the clubs seem like generic ones. or the "off brand" clubs. Just because I did a google search and it came back with nadda.

here are some photos. any info would be great! I'd hate to take them to the golf course: "hey jason, what kind of clubs are those?" ....."umm..golf ones"

I took a pic of all the spots with info.

Hi

I've recently lost a good amount of weight, I used to be ~112kg and I'm now ~84kg. I think that I've got about 4-5kg to go until the moobs, the last of the 'man baby' is gone and be the weight I should be. I managed just through simple things such as:

- no mid-week drinking (unless there is an occasion)
- no seconds at dinner
- small breakfast and lunch
- no cheese
- no starter or naan with the Friday night curry
- no convenience foods

I'm thinking I may have reached the limit of weight loss due to small diet changes alone. I don't want to start some major diet regime because it's demoralising and a chore.

The obvious thing would be to exercise more but my working day is very long and desk based (do an MSci, they said. It will be fun, they said), basically I leave the house at 7am and I'm not back till 8-9pm - so going to the gym before or after university isn't really an option. The university is 22 miles from my house, so commuting by bike is out too.

What could I do in my lunch hour?
Would walking for 30-45mins at lunchtime be a good idea?

Just want something light that won't mean having to change/shower after after doing it and not need any investment.

Thanks
