Just arrived yesterday, some Godrej Menthol Mist, and a customized blade sampler. Also, a lot of razors from a wanted ad on Craigslist. The two Gillettes cleaned up very nicely! Not sure what I'm doing with the straights. I have more straights than I know what to do with!

Got my shaving soap on Monday that I won from Susie's Bubbles. Haven't used it yet, but I plan to tonight. Got 2 half-rounds. One is an olive oil based Bay Rum scent, the other is a shea butter based scent called Autumn Wreath.

I am very much a newbie, but all this I picked up this week:

Pre shave oil:
Prepare by Zirh.(Picked it up on from TJ Maxx in a starter set for $12)

Shaving cream:
Zirh clear shaving gel (starter set for $12)

Razor:
New Merkur 23c (amazon for $31)

Blades:
Feathers (10 - $4.99)
Gillette 7o’clock(5 - $2.79),
Dorco st-301 (10 - $1.69) All from from Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC

ASB:
Zirh Soothe (starter set for $12))

Also the Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC is amazing! I just stood there confused. I will definitely go back when I need supplies.

This week was good!

Ever Ready 1912 - Great condition, minor plating loss on head.
Gem 1912 - Good condition, needs a cleaning
Gem Featherweight
Gem Micromantic - Great condition, my favourite by far!
Gem Junior - It's in decent condition, just not sold on it

That lot ran me 15 bucks. (The last 4 were 10 bucks shipped, and the ever ready I picked up at an antique store for 5)

Geneva Cutlery Co Straight - In good condition, no rust, one single pit on the blade halfway between the spine and the edge. Just needs a good polish (Picture looks like rust, its reflection)

And a Dubl-Duck Straight - In good condition also, currently away for honing

Sweet, thanks for the info. Looks like the head is in good shape (the back side at least) but there are at least a few chips out of the handle. This just adds a bit of character.... or at least a bit more of a project to restore.... maybe.

This auction was meant for me to find I think, Five razors that I had on my hit list all in one auction: A Sheraton/tto Open Comb, Open Comb Micromatic, Red Tip, A Fat Boy in better shape (have one with some pretty substantial brassing) and a lather catcher. It was my Destiny to own those razors at a pretty good price (pending actual condition after clean-up):biggrin::biggrin:

This made my weekend! :w00t: And it's only Friday afternoon!

The family and I decided on taking a trip to Canonsburg, PA today. We mapped our travels to two antique stores that were right down the street from each other. I go into the first one with the wife and I immediately ask if they have any vintage Gillette razors or straight razors even. I was told to look in one case, if it wasn’t there, it couldn’t be anywhere else. Before I gave up on the store, I decided on a whim to search the very corner back room. I go in there and see a brush sitting right inside a vintage old spice mug. “Hmm, that looks like a good fake badger…Hmm let me pick it up and look at it. What the!?” It isn’t imitation badger or boar, it’s a freaking Simpson best badger brush that looks brand spanking new! The brush was being sold together with the old spice mug. It says, ‘K4 best badger Simpson’ on the handle. They were both being sold as a set for 20% off for a total of $7.00! Funny thing is that I was browsing online for Simpson brushes this morning before I left. I also found a vintage Wade & Butcher razor at the second antique shop.

My haul this week. Not bad!

At an antique store just down the road earlier today. Date code places this as a 1963. Still has the cardboard in the blade holder and the cellophane on the blade box! My first vintage, and I'm pretty pleased with it.

So.... a while ago I purchased this.... a balltech in an HD case with instructions
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/limbot/hdcase.jpg

There's a monthly market at a church close by, and for the last couple of weeks I haven't had a chance to get there, well this morning I got up early and zapped down before kids soccer.

Here's what I find :001_smile The lady even insisted that I take the packet of Gillette Super Stainless blades ( C4s ) that she had next to it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/limbot/P1020302.jpg

Put them together and what have you got ??????

Ran by the usual Antique shop today, came away with 'Z 3' Black Handled Super Adjustable is great shape, and an 'N 1' Gillette travel razor in little red leather case, also in great shape. The travel set must have been from a gift shop, as it has "ALOHA FROM HAWAII" in gold lettering on one exterior side of the case. Pics later ...

thanks

My Irisch Moos stick arrived today from Superlather, along with decants of Tabac Man EDT, Floid Blue, and Irisch Moos aftershave. I wish I hadn't shaved already today!

The Tabac Man is... rather manly, but in a department store kind of way? I'm not sure how I feel about it, as it smells nothing like Tabac SS.

Couldn't pass up this awesome razor in a very fine wooden case -- probably mahogany. 1923??! 86 years old and still looking fine. Who else can say that? Maybe it's the British who age more gracefully.

No split on the handle and the head looks as good as new. What did they plate those heads with that it keeps the shine so well? Couldn't be rhodium so perhaps they did they use silver over nickle?

I also have an original advertisement for this razor kicking around so it seems to be a fitting acquisition. And I will have to give it a whirl to try out its shaving effectiveness.

Jake

Yes, I have tried it out and will use it now & then, but will want to preserve it for the next generation -- or 2 -- or 3. It is really hard to believe it has survived in such good condition for over 80 years. They really don't make them like they used to!

I picked it up from Mark at SuperLather.. Scent would be what I would consider to be "modern". Back of the bottle reads:

Schwarzkopf & Henkel
Dusseldorf

Guessing that's the maker. Nice AS! Soothing but not as cooling as I had hoped. Still, I'd recommend it.

Won this 1960 Fatboy (F-4) on Ebay this week. The listing said " it had been in a box for a long time, good overall condition, but has lost it's shine." Good thing for me she had not heard of Maas and I had. It's my birtdate razor, and it only cost me 17.99 plus shipping ! Hope the pictures post, my first time.
