Do any of you use the blades that come with a brand new razor or do you just chuck it?

You *could* use it, but best advice is to just chuck it. The rattling around those blades receive usually dull them nicely. Note that in many/most of our experiences, even fresh Merkur blades should just not be used period.

As long as the new razor you speak of isn't a "new" razor from e-bay:eek:

I've had less that favorable results with Merkur blades. Considering how inexpensive good blades are, I either discard the sample Merkur, or just leave it in the razors box on the outside chance I decide to sell the razor later

Heck, I paid for them with the cost of the razor.

I mean what the worst that could happen!

Then again maybe I shouldn't.:blushing:

If it's a Merkur blade, I use it to open a pack of better blades.

When it is a Merkur, yes I do use them. When it is a Lord, sure I use them.

When it is a Derby however (Mühle sticks those with their razors) I just leave them be. Not the blade for me.

Never had any issues btw.

I use them, but that's because I have an aversion to throwing perfectly good things out. Even when they're as cheap as DE blades.

If they are still in the wrapper unused I will yes.

i might just pick up a new sample pack and see what works best in my futur/slant

merkur blades never worked for me in a hd before i believe, tried out a sample pack and i guess i picked derby out of all of them

its been so long that i dont even remember lol

If you are trying to figure out which blade to use with a new razor, then yes, the sample pack would be your best option!

Still have mine from when I got my 38B last week. I keep looking at it wondering if I'm foolish enough to try it. Only time will tell.

Nice razor!Only good to VG condition, because of the spotting on the head. Otherwise in perfect shape.

But keeping to the topic at hand, the intended focus of the picture is the Gillette Platinum Plus blades. If they come with a razor, I always shave with them.
