A while ago I went to an estate sale and the guy who was trying to sort out and price everything his just-deceased uncle had owned gave me about a half bottle of Pineaud's Bay Rum. Right away I recognized the scent as the way my gampa Dick smelled when I was little. I've been using a couple drops of Penhaligon's AS in my home-made 50/50 witch hazel/aloe juice splash, but when my latest batch ran out I used a couple drops of PBR instead. Holy smokes what a nice smell! My wife really likes it on me better than the Penhaligon's and it has the bonus that I can continue to smell it on myself for hours, and yet it's so subtle that you have to be my wife to smell it. (Anyone else gets that close and I have some 'splainin to do Lucy!) Also, I had a wander around the uncle's house and he had hundreds and hundreds of books; many of which I have also read. And a huge collection of CDs including showtunes, different types of jazz, and a lot of classical (though none by my favorite violin masters). Anyway, he seemed to be the kind of man I try to be. Just a few more clicks ahead of me on life's road. The kind of man my Grampa would have admired.

Part of what I like about the whole wet shaving experience is the sense of trying to preserve something good. Something that goes beyond the simple act of shaving and embraces a gentlemanly outlook on things. And, for me, this bay rum splash waltzes me down that dreamy path.

Most cool. Oh yes.

I've been known to smell like PBR myself on occasion

No, no, no, Marty. Discerning consumers know that brown paper bags are best paired with sweet red wines.

Best,
