broken pen

i've had a pen for about 3 years its a great pen have not had to refill it once but i took it apart to see how much ink was left (still about half) and when i put the cartrige back into the pen it was out adn i cant get it back in. does any one have the same problem and or have any fixes for me?

Pics might help out. Is this a fountain pen or a ballpoint pen? You can't get the cartridge back in?

ball point and i unfortunately dont have any camera with access to my computer... and the cartrige is in the pen it just wont retract.

Take the cartridge back out and rotate it 180 degrees.

Is it a cross type refill?
