Gentlemen,

I have some shaving items looking for new domains. I have a banged up left hand (I shave left/right with straights) and am down to only one shave with a straight on weekends, and only one pass. All razors are in perfect shape, from what I can tell. I have photos for a couple.

1. Merkur 34C. Probably used a total of 12 shaves. This is one of the best razors made, as you know, but it never grew on me. Price $25, postage included.

2. I have 3 Monsieur Charles straight razors with disposable blades (Personna mini cartridges). Nice straights. I had bought them for my travels, but plans fell through. Price $20, including postage.

3. Dovo "Black Star" 5/8 in., round point, Pakkawood scales. Black spine, shank and tang. Carbon steel blade is accented in gold. It's a gorgeous razor. Used in rotation probably no more than a dozen times. Price $100, postage included.

4. Dovo 5/8 in. round point with Perlex scales. Beautiful gold etching on the carbon steel blade. Used in rotation about a dozen times. Also a gorgeous razor. Price $100, postage included.

So that's it, gentlemen. Since I don't understand these computing machine thingies and barely know how e-mail works, and half the time screw up signing on and off B&B's posts, there is no way I can also include photos of them. Take the word of a gentlemen; these are not junk. Good stuff.

Anyway, that's it. If interested, drop me a note. Oh, by the way, checks or money orders only, please. I am from the horse and buggy days spiritually, so I don't understand any of that PayPal business. Thanks.

Regards,

Obelit

Am I missing something here? A Merkur HD for $20 sure sounds cheap to me.

Hello, Steve,

Yes, the Merkur HD (34C) does sound inexpensive for $20, especially because it has been used no more than a dozen times.

Since the razor, for some reason, has not grown on me, I thought I would pass it on to someone who might like it. I mean I have no interest in wheeling and dealing; rather, I just want a fellow gentleman wet shaver to enjoy it, since the razor sits in my rack unused.

Regards,

Obelit

I have and use a HD daily. Someone should break open their piggy bank or skip a lunch and use the money to buy this.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your response, and Steve, thank you for your salesmanship. The Merkur sold to Amar for $20. I know he will enjoy it more than I could.

By the way, the other razors I have listed, the Dovo straights and the Monsieur Charles, are fabulous deals, too. They are in a great shape.

The reason I am selling them at such a low price is this: I injured my left hand — Left/right is the only way I can shave with a straight and with a bum left hand . . . You see what I mean. I am unable, therefore, to use a straight more than one shave a week and one pass only.

I am still keeping a couple of straights for myself in the rack — because you never know. I might as well pass the ones I have listed to someone at B&B who will appreciate them.

The Monsieur Charles straights with replaceable blades are great for traveling, by the way.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have little interest in wheeling and dealing. $75 for the straights is a fabulous price, as is $15 for the Monsieur Charles. Postage included.

Thank you, gentlemen.

Obelit

Thanks Obleit!

And jakespoppy, I promise I'll put the razor to good use!

Thanks for making this forum so awesome!

PM sent on the Black Star!

As I told Obelit,

Today's my birthday and I think this is the perfect time to decide to finally jump into straight shaving.

Gentlemen,

The Dovo "Black Star" and the Dovo perlex are sold. Thank you for your interest. I still have three Monsieur Charles straight razors with replaceable blades left. I bought these for my travels, but plans eventually fell through. If I recall, two of them have never been used.

The Monsieur Charles uses the Personna injector blade dispensed from a 20-blade cartridge. The razor is the size of a regular straight. The cutting edge, however, is less than that of the standard straight, thus giving you a little cushion between the cutting edge and the shank.

No stropping is required, obviously, and that's why it makes a perfect straight for traveling or shaving at the gym. New, the Monsieur Charles is priced at around $29. You may have my razor for $15, postage included. For $20, I will also include a 20-blade cartridge dispenser, which is priced at about $5.

Not the most computereeze person, I have no idea how to publish a photo of it in this posting. Hey, listen, I would be perfectly comfortable in the 19th century, next door to Dickens or Chopin. If you're interested, send me your e-mail and I might be able to attach a photo that way.

Anyway, thanks much, gentlemen.

Regards,

Obelit

Happy bday. I bought the Perlex as a bday present to myself as well.

:a17:

Wow, quite the coincidence. I had trouble selecting between the Perlex and the Black Star myself both seemed like a really good opportunity. In the end, I figured the Black Star was a little "tougher" looking. :001_rolle

Happy Birthday, and I hope you enjoy your new straight as much as ... I hope -- I enjoy MY new straight.

I still have 12 days until mine, but thanks. I think the only tough looking thing will be my face soon as I start learning how to straight shave. Should be fun though.

I just received my "birthday" razor, the Dovo Perlex. It's a beautiful razor and Obie is a class guy to do business with. Thank you and I will enjoy it as much as possible even though I foresee some nicks and cuts in the learning process.
