I would like to get 1 brush to do everything well. What do you experienced shavers think of this Shavemac Retro 584? At $110USD it's not cheap and way more than I wanted to spend but it's cheaper than buying multiple brushes. And I love the look of it. To me it's the best looking brush I've seen so far. How are the knot dimensions for a multi-purpose brush?

I think that one would definitely serve you well. The loft is a tad longer than I like, but the knot size is n the perfect zone for both creams and soaps, IMHO.

Even the most luxurious brush can't give the guarantee that you wouldn't want an other brush eventually. It's the urge to know how other brushes work and feel like. You don't need to succumb but many have tried before. :frown:
Of course, the qualitity of this brush is supposed to be of a high standard.

If you can resist buying other brushes, that brush should do all you need. It is a good medium sized brush, it should be dense with backbone. My Shavemac is 23mm with 60mm loft and it does everything great.

I really like the Retro Shavemac but further reading has me considering the Saville Row 3824, though it is quite a bit bigger with 5mm more loft and 1mm bigger knot.

Or, save a little money and get a Shavemac finest or silvertip from WCS

Any of those brushes will be great. The current price from WCS is hard to beat. My Shavemac is finest, and I actually prefer it to silvertip not just because its cheaper, but because maybe a bit stiffer still with soft tips.
