i keep having the vision of the wicked witch of the west disappearing into the little puddle in front of dorothy -- what a relief to see when i was 6 years old.

anyway, enough free association. my question is, when using a shaving soap as a washing bar in the shower, how do you keep it from melting secondary to getting hit from the shower? i've had dove and dial bars do this, but no big deal since they are 25 cents or so. a $5 soap is another matter.

1) Make sure your soap is not in direct contact with water from the shower
2) Buy one of those plastic things (I don't know what it is called) (soap holder???) that allows you to sit your soap on top and have the water drain from the soap. You can find these plastic things from wal-mart for usually a dollar or so.

the "soap shelf" in my shower catches a lot of spray (bouncing off of me, and wife). thus regular bars deteriorate fairly quickly.

i was thinking about some kind of plastic case but there may be a better way.

I have a soap shelf that has a suction cup that allows me to put it at the top of my shower virtually eliminating all of the splash effect. I found the soap shelf at bed bath and beyond.

you could try taking a shower alone?? i could imagine that this would be difficult tho.

Guess I'm lucky in that my soap shelf is on the opposite end of the shower head; an area that stays pretty dry actually.
