I know several of you are not married, but to those that are, Do you find each year a little harder to buy an anniversary gift? What is ten years supposed to be anyhow? Also, we are going to Chicago next weekend. Any suggestions (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=118038) are appreciated.
I'm guessing that homemade body armor is out of the question? :whistling:

Well you could always eliminate the need to get a gift by divorcing her, but then again it might not work out so well seeing as you've lost the ability to feed yourself on your own.

My advice? Think of what you would most love to get for an anniversary gift, and then figure out what is opposite of that. Buy her the opposite thing.

Yup. And I've already received some good info from my Cheddar brothers. Yes, even you, Ray.
:blushing: Aw, shucks. I try, some folks don't like my help. Like the lady that said she wanted her husband dead. I mean, how was I to know she wasn't serious? She looked serious to me. She got what she wanted, a dead hubby. And now she's mad at me. I mean, what's a guy supposed to do?
Just thought I'd mention that "weshofmann" has joined the Czardom and the Shaved Penguins.
What's a shaved penguin? Linux support? What about Red Hat? Whatever happened to the Red Fedora?
What the heck is that?

I'm not sure which is dorkier, though.
Ehm... Trek have a name for it. So obvoiusly the trekkies are alot dorkier:001_smile
Clearly, Hobbit/Middle Earth is dorkier by far. You have to be able to read (and have a vocabulary and attention span) to get it. Trek you can just watch. Watching the movies could make you a lotr fan aswell... dont even have to own a tv.
Pneumatic hammer? What, you want to make five breastplates a day? And it's not like you can make chainmail with that thing anyway, mister.
You can make chainmail with just a pair of pliers trust me I've tried :001_rolle
Chain mail is not too hard as long as you just use butted rings and not riveted rings. I do not think I have the patience for the riveted rings. As far as the Planishing Hammer, it just seems I could do smoother work with that than I could by hand. I may give it a go any how.
try a metal that is a little softer and use 2 sets of pliers that's quite fast.
I thought that riveting the rings made the armor much, much better?
Better? you mean Dorkier right?
Oh, it does. It also makes it 5 times the work. I can flatten the rings, but I am not sure of a economical means of making the holes. I drill just seems like a bad idea. May be the only option though.
Hmm use an evil eye on them and make them obey
You're jealous you don't have chain mail?
Mhm everyone without chainmail is a bit jealous :biggrin1:

Oh my! That's worse than knowing Klingon!
He's definitely a nerd.
Middle Earth was always more my thing. :whistling:
I love There and Back Again, Fellowship of the Ring was OK, but had a hard time getting into the other two books. I do like reading some of the back stories from the various sketches, and short stories that Tolkien wrote.
I just watched the latest Trek/money grab on DVD. On it's own, it wasn't too bad, but as part of the Trek "canon" it wasn't worth it, especially the way they messed with the canon and had to resort to time travel / alternate time lines to get anyone to believe it as a trek movie. I didn't much care for Pine as Kirk... only the real Kirk gets to over act like that. Spock wasn't bad and the guy who did McCoy totally nailed it. Uhura came across as um, "undecerning" with her affections.
I was 100% against the new movies at first, but finally broke down and saw it. I actually liked it, but then I am not a purist.
Yes, Middle Earth has very complicated intricacies and deep meaning behind it. :001_rolle
For the record, the LOTR movie strayed very little from canon. I was quite impressed how true they stayed to the story.
For the record, I used this (http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/online/english.html) to translate.
How many times can you use FTR in one post?
I disagree though. Frodo was a lot older, and waited years before making his journey. Several interesting characters were also left out. But, I understand why they did that.
Yeah, really! That was the biggest flaw. Kirk didn't get rejected, did he?
But, he's a rock-et man!
This time yesterday, I was catching flak for Googling some Klingon phrases, and I come back and now I'm barely middle of the [earth] pack of nerds. Man, things change fast around here!
Lord of the Nerds has returned! Welcome O Great One! Teach us thy knowledge of all things Nerdy.
I gotta go invent photon torpedoes, or C+++, or write Weird Al's next hit song, or something.
Then you would be a god!
Nerds, geeks, and chain mail? :001_huh:
Yeah, kinda makes you uncorfortable, huh? As if there is more going on here that I really don't want to know about.
There are helicopters flying above my house and it is getting loud.
Unless they are black helicopters, don't worry about it.
I did not get stuffed in any lockers. :mad3

love There and Back Again, Fellowship of the Ring was OK, but had a hard time getting into the other two books. I do like reading some of the back stories from the various sketches, and short stories that Tolkien wrote.
Oh my! Take that back! LOTR in its entirety is the awesomest book ever! :mad3:
I disagree though. Frodo was a lot older, and waited years before making his journey. Several interesting characters were also left out. But, I understand why they did that.
Well, it's understandable, but Elijah Wood doesn't look like a hobbit.
Yeah, kinda makes you uncorfortable, huh? As if there is more going on here that I really don't want to know about.
Yeah, but you have to admit that 'Nerds, Geeks, and Chain Mail' would make an awesome title for a music album. :w00t:

I had several attempts made to do such evils to me. However, when cornered, I could always fight my way out. The Vice Principal always punished me, no mater what I did. He didn't like the school geek beating up all the jocks, I guess. It's funny, I never lost a fight in school, and believe me, I was in plenty. Yet, I was neatly 25 before it finally occurred to me I wasn't a wimp and could handle about anyone that tried anything on me.
