Hmmmm...... That could be possible.

Honestly, I was considering an avatar change a while back. Then, Gollum and I got into that Garfield debate, and I suffered from escalating commitment. Don't get me wrong, I still like Garfield, I just think I may be ready for something else. I'll look into that sable hat idea, though.

Neither, we don't carry them and, therefore, don't have to...

You are a lucky man. A real taser is something you'd never forget.

What is it about you guys and not wearing pants?! Yeesh.

 It was implied. The T-shirt reference simply meant I wasn't wearing a heavy jacket or other clothing in the area they were going to shoot.

I generally put pants on when I go somewhere classy like Tractor Supply.

Thus saving the overalls for someplace classy, like church.

Lairs? Well you were the one that volunteer to be tased, silly.

Very true, but we reached a point in the training where we were told that were weren't leaving until someone volunteered to be dry stunned and someone to be shot. A friend of mine stepped right up for the dry stun but nobody wanted sharp barbs shot into their back at high velocity (I can't blame them) but I was ready for the day to be over. The rest of those sissies simply weren't going to do it.

So I'm reading our local (well, NY) rag of a newspaper today and run across the "Strange but True" column which I'll summarize below:

Dateline: Churchill, Manitoba, Canada (the other end of the province from RPC):

30 Mounties called out to protect children on Halloween from possible roaming polar bears in the "polar bear capital of the world." Children further warned to not wear fuzzy white costumes and to avoid bear traps.

Yeesh. I think I'll just skip that neighborhood.

We need to check on Chip!

:lol::lol:

In case anyone is wondering, the population of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada is about 1,000. Yes, one thousand.

Ah so its a bustling metropolitan area.

Day late and a dollar (or yen) short there, Spanky. Here, or another thread, I determined that the fuzzy hat negates all anti-czarishness of any avatar (except pirates). Therefore, if he wants to keep garfield, it's ok providing that hat is worn.

No. I really was thinking about changing it before all of this. I already had an "avatars" folder on my PC. I had been holding off, though, when Gollum and I had that Garfield debate just because changing it then would make it seem like Gollum had made me insecure about it. I feel I must point at that it was inevitable that the Czardom would be forced to increase the number of court jesters due to the nature of said Czardom. Prophecy has been fulfilled. History is now destiny. Let it be. Amen.

I'd rather be tased than hit with pepper spray any day!

I got hit by both!

Neither, we don't carry them and, therefore, don't have to. I have been hit with a self-defence stun gun, but I know that doesn't compare. That, I foolishly volunteered for.

Now, the cattle prod seemed to hurt more to me. Skklog, our uncle, and I were all at Tractor Supply, waiting on Grandma and Grandpa. Klog and Uncle Kevin found cattle prods hanging on cardboard backers. So, Uncle Kevin used it on me. The two of them laughed and said I did a really good job faking it as I climbed off the floor. They didn't believe the thing was actually live. I mean, who puts a live cattle prod out where stupid people like us can use it on each other. I told them I wasn't faking. So, Kevin hit me again! This time they began to realise I wasn't faking. Maybe it was the foam forming at my mouth. :w00t: So, to make amends, Uncle Kevin stood and let me nail him with it. Good times, good times.

That was great!

So guys....I think I'm moving to Texas. Any advice?

Prophecy? What Prophecy? I thought the only Cheddarite Prophecy was the one foretelling of Blake's death by tuna, boulder, dynamite, and aeroplane.

No, no, no. I mean "yes" this is the Prophecy from the Official Book of Cheddarite Prophecies, but as Minister of Useless but Interesting Historical Stuff, I've managed to procure a copy of the lesser known "Father Monika's Distasteful Jokes and Minor Prophecies In Case of Cheddar-Based Empires and other Political and Non-Political Units". This prophecy comes from Chapter 5, subsection 2, sub-paragraph .7.

Laura was anything but innocent. She was what gives Blonde jokes their steam. My dad managed a police, fire, and EMS uniform and supply store after retiring from the Police Department. His boss hired this dumb bimbo to work part time. She accidentally pepper sprayed people three or four times that we know of. Dad found a sign that she had hidden to use on my dad's days off. According to that, customers had to call her when they came in. There are more stories about this stupid girl, but I won't go on.

No. I really was thinking about changing it before all of this. I already had an "avatars" folder on my PC. I had been holding off, though, when Gollum and I had that Garfield debate just because changing it then would make it seem like Gollum had made me insecure about it.

Hey Hey, y'all!

Sorry to be gone for so long. What started as a short break became longer because of lots of busy life stuff. Most of it is really good, so I won't complain, but it takes a lot of time. Heck, I'm at work now, and I should be fixing problems (when you're the only one running the shop, either I do it or it doesn't get done).

Soapbox updates:

WIFE PREGNANT, having a BOY in May 2010.
Shave soap recipe refinement is going well; new testing pucks available soon, in Bayberry scent
Passed my amateur radio (ham) license tests for Technician and General on the same day!
The Great Big Screen works, but not very well. This has sucked up most of my time at work lately.
I still love Linux, but it can be exhausting when you're trying to run 12 screens at once off of three rackmount workstations.
Denton Texas continues to be great, and the house hasn't fallen down yet
I've started using a straight on the weekends; thanks to Richmondesi and Mysterion for chatting about it with me
I passed a point somewhat recently when I realized that I had made a complete transition to DE shaving -- it's no longer novel, it's just part of the daily ritual. And that's awesome.
Of course, the straight shaving is awesome but I'm not very good yet, so there's lots of razor burn and some stubble here and there. I still like it.

So, what all have I missed?

All cheddar aside, though, that is some pretty serious work on that jumbo tron thing. Are you a programmer or something by trade?

Yeah, I'm a pretty big nerd. My PhD is in Political Science, but to answer the questions in my dissertation, I wrote 5000 lines of code (in four languages) and spent three years building a data set and running statistics on it.

Since nobody can read big columns of numbers very well, I also wrote some code to make pretty graphs and pictures that convey the results a lot more usefully, and that "data visualization" got me this job, which is pretty cool! I am creating a "data visualization center" at the University of North Texas. It has been consuming a lot of time lately, and the results are pretty neat, but the whole thing still doesn't work very well. Yet.

Anyway, yeah, I'm a big nerd. However: Lou still gets the nod as "nerdliest references guy", and wherever Chip is, he's a better programmer than I am (I've seen his work), and Rich is a Linux guru, so I feel like I'm in good geek company here.
