Neti pot (http://www.healingdaily.com/exercise/neti-pot.htm) adding a pinch of xylitol to the water. I swear by it.
(xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol (comes in granules) that in addition to being a good low-carb sweetener is also anti-bacterial and anti-viral)
x-clear nasal spray (http://www.vitacost.com/Xlear-Nasal-Wash-with-Xylitol) works on the same principle, but is not as irrigating altho easier / less messy to use.

My dad taught me to ride a motorcycle yesterday. I underestimated the difficulty involved. It amazed me that you have to coordinate functions with both feet and both hands at the same time while paying attention to everything else involved. My dad said he forgot how difficult is was to learn, himself. This wasn't his first bike he has owned it for over thirty three years.
I really started getting the hang of it. Dad had me ride over to a parking lot two houses down from his to teach me. I spent most of the evening in first gear, starting, looping around the lot and stopping on a yellow line. After a while, he took me up a country road and rode up to around 45 MPH. It isn't all that fast, but I felt like a little kid.
All in all, it was a blast and I am feeling fairly confident on it now. I should have done this years ago!

My mom was notorious for making that hissing noise from quick deep inhales between her teeth. She was what really made me nervous. Then again, that was a good thing. It taught me to ignore unimportant distractions and pay attention to the road.

That is what Mrs. Blackfoot does to me. I don't know how many times I have hit the brakes thinking I am actively running over somebody or something because of the way she does that to me. It was that opposite for me. My dad is quite possibly the worst passenger ever! Always nervous and always giving out driving 'advice'. Worst part about it is that when I learned to drive Michigan had just changed its licensing laws so that teenage drivers had to rack up 50 hours of driving with a parent or legal guardian in the vehicle before getting their graduated level 1 license. Needless to say, I racked up most of my hours with my mom by my side rather than my dad.

Log book. Time, date, number of miles driven, type of roads used, etc. Plus there's something like a three or four month waiting period between obtaining your permit and then your license. The license you then receive is what they call a level 2 (I misspoke the first time, level 1 is your permit) license which restricts your driving. Specifically you can't drive from 12 midnight to 5 am until you get your level 3 or full license, which you receive in six months or when you reach your 18th birthday, whichever happens first if I'm remembering this all correctly.

Yeah it's worked pretty well in the 10 years since it was first instituted. It's cut down some on car accidents and car-related deaths among teenage drivers, although they still definitely occur. Case in point, we had five teens that got killed over in Canton, west of Detroit, about three weeks ago trying to beat a train.
Anyway those fifty hours of instruction sure help, but it depends largely on how good your instructors are. So if your parents are lousy drivers, well then it probably isn't going to help much. Additionally, it doesn't counteract driver stupidity in any way shape or form.

Ok, all. I've set us up a League through Yahoo Sports. I wanted to do and NFL.com league, but without paying premium, I couldn't alter any of the default settings, such as a minimum 12 team league.
Here is the link: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/notitleleague
If you or one of your friends (B&B members only please) wants to join, pm me for the password. That's the only rule. As suggested by someone, I think the no title thread is a fine place to talk a little FFL when the time arises.
Just to give you the heads up, I've set it up with a LIVE draft on the 29th of August at 2pm Central. The other rules you can read when you get to the site. I set the league up based on many years of experience with what I liked and disliked about other leagues I've played in. Nothing too weird and I hope it balances the points so that no one player or player type will dominate.
Let the GAMES begin!

Well they all can't be abnormal. There has to be some baseline of normality. However that's not to say pirates aren't abnormal when compared to the rest of society. It is just that within pirate society itself there has to be some sense of normalcy when compared to others of their ilk, otherwise terms like abnormal and strange have no basis of meaning. Oh and your milage may certainly vary.

Should normalcy be decided upon peers or the public at large? This is an interesting question. If we say, their peers, this will effect other situations. I fought with a woman high on cocaine tonight. She seemed to be nearly insane to us. Yet, comparing to her peers, she may have been a perfectly normal coke-head.

So then crack heads should only be tried by a jury of fellow crack heads? Or murders by fellow murderers? I don't think the logic carries through.

Well I just looked this up and apparently the most in the medical community seem to define the maximum height as being 4' 10" here in the States, but I would imagine that it depends on where you're at because 4' 10" would be within normal height range in some groups of people living around the globe.

I suppose that in the continued absence of said vice-Czar, and the best interests of the Czardom in general, and being on the outskirts and all and not actually having a cabinet post, I also would be in accordance with the appointment of Jesse to vice-Czar-dom (or whatever the necessary word is) even though I probably aren't even allowed a vote, but on the other hand, he did send me the extra-strength eye bleach when I needed it and it might even be a good idea to apply for a cabinet post of some sort myself to assure that I do have a vote in the future and oh yeah, Tillamook cheddar does come from Oregon, so not all of the happy cows are in California in spite of what the TV commercials say...

So, how do they decide if a storm should have a female name (hurricane) or a male name (himmacane)?
If a storm is unpredictable and changes directions randomly it's a hurricane.
It's a himmacane if it heads straight for the virgin islands
