Does anyone know anything about classes for first time home buyers that can potentially get you better interest rates and a zero down option? Some friends of mine took such a class last year when they bought their first home, but with today's current situation I'm beginning to wonder if "zero down" even exists anymore... I'm going to email my mortgage guy, but I thought I'd ask here too.

Don't know anything about classes. If you are a veteran you can buy zero down w/ the VA certificate. Plus I believe FHA offers 3% to 5% down for first time buyers which is much better than the 20% some banks want. Let us know what you find out about the classes.

Will do. I just fired off an email to the "Bank Dude," so we'll see what he comes back with.

Good day Dom, Jim and anyone else who wanders by. The little one wants to play w/ papa so I can't stick around today. I remember when days off were just that. Not anymore. Now they're filled with Sponge Bob, Little Mermaid, puzzles, the swimming pool and lots of little girl screams. I love every minute of it.

Take care. I'll step in later to see what we're up to.

And no booty shakes until it reads three 0's. Speaking of celebrations we're coming up on 20 pages so that will require something special too. Suggestions?

I don't have kids, but I'm ten years older than my sister. When I was younger I basically helped my parents raise her. I used to love when she just came into my room to play. Now, when I visit, she's a lot older, so she doesn't do that anymore. There's Sponge Bob, swimming pool, etc. It's really a great thing. Enjoy your day off, Shep.

This is really weird. There is no one here but me. The phone has been ringing since before I got here. I just now realized it isn't an outside line - it's an intercom line ringing. It keeps changing from phone to phone also. The other day one of the service writers thought she heard people walking/talking upstairs. I keep waiting for the phone at my desk to start ringing next. Odd.

would there be any interest old Old Spice glass bottles?
I've been talking the owner of a local antique store who has been preparing for three estate sales, and since I frequent the shop, any razor pron paraphernalia she finds, she sets to the side for me - more on that in a few days - any way we were talking and I happened to mention that some folks even look for aftershave bottles, especially the glass ones, and she got this really befuddled look on her face, said she's been throwing those away, has done that to at least 10, but she thinks there may be some more around.
so, there may be some glass OS bottles available, if anyone is interested

Good afternoon all. Man some of you guys are getting up way to early according to the time stamps on your posts. Not much of an early riser myself. Been pretty busy the past couple days takin' care of bidness at home so thanks to all for keeping the anything thread alive. She ain't much, but she's got a special place in my heart.

If the price is right I may take a glass bottle just for nostalgia sake. To be honest it doesn't bother me a bit that some AS's come in plastic. It makes sense to me actually. Easier to produce and ship I would think, and certainly safer if dropped.

I'm being told now to prepare for possible depolyment somewhere in TX for Ike. Guess we'll know more as the weekend progresses what damage he will do. Anyone in it's path, good luck to you.

The other day I posted this (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=58275) as a little help guide to new guys. It is now included w/in the new guy tutorial in the Newbie forum. If you guys have any suggestions for an effective and cheap (under $20) cream or soap go post it there w/ pics and info. Future newbies will appreciate it. Thanks.

We have had an uncharacteristically "cool" summer in metro phx this year. By now we've generally had weeks in the 115 to 120 range. It's only gotten that hot a couple times this year. Usually it's down around 100 to 105 most days, and we've had many days it doesn't even reach 100. Once you live in the Valley awhile that's a veritable cool streak. Not complaining mind you; it's just odd.

isn't there a VW Bug somewhere in your area with skeleton in it whe the words "but it's a DRY heat" painted on the side?

Afternoon gents. Glad to see the board is all present. Although I've been missing Shane lately. You didn't try to bait him into a political discussion did you? Speaking of them, they keep popping up at the rate of two or three per day. Not even subtle either. The thread titles are obviously meant to bait. I don't even open them anymore. Foolishness.

Watched the 9/11 tribute on History HD last night. Anyone else see it? Very powerful and moving of course. 1.5 hrs. of raw video footage shot by various amateurs that day. Gave a real 'man on the street' eyewitness to history vibe.

Anyone been to the speakeasy and read the cigarretts thread? All about guys who roll their own. I'm not a smoker but it was a facinating discussion. It's a whole subculture just like shaving.

A huge hobby shop opened up down the road from me. Haven't been in yet, but it's got to be filled w/ great stuff. It's as big as Home Depot. I used to do leather work, wood work, models, beads, ceramics and all sorts of cool stuff when I was a kid. Then you grow up and there's no time for anything. Been thinking I'll check out that store and see if there's something that interests me. It'll prob. cost a bunch of cash is the problem. Still, think I'll go poke around. Anyone here have an interesting hobby--besides shaving?

Hey Shep -

To hit on a few points with some brevity, occasionally I read through the politico threads for a quick chuckle or to wince at how caddy (catty?) people can get reduced to. I made the mistake of getting into a W bashing debate on a motorcycle forum a few years ago and won't make that mistake twice. I refuse to lower my sodium intake to offset the high blood pressure.

I also keep an eye on the cigarette thread and live vicariously so to speak as an ex-cigarette smoker who knows the pleasure that can be derived from a timely smoke.

That hobby store sounds cool. My friends and I used to frequent the R/C section of a local shop when we were younger. Lots of time/money blown on those little trucks!

Eagle
09-12-2008, 12:52 PM
Right. Cory and his remote control trucks. I forgot.

I was wondering what the reaction was to Favres opening day as a Jet? That has to be a bitter pill to swallow for the fans and press up your way. Where does most of the blame lie do you think. W/ the Pack or Favre. Don't know if you're an f-ball fan or not, but figure it's gotta be THE story up there so you can't miss it.

I'm not a football fan, but you're right. It's inescapable. It seems to be split down the middle. You've got one side condemning Favre for retiring, then deciding, "Nah...I wanna play again," and the other side damning the Suits in GB for not taking him back. Either way, I think they're all pretty PO'ed. :w00t:

I've always gotten a rise out of watching sports fans get so passionate about what I find to be so not worth the effort, but...then again, they'd say the same about me and my interests. :whistling:

I told someone the other day that if i smoked cigs I would have to roll my own. As it is I just stick to cigars and pipes. I swore off the political threads earlier. Oh and how did the youngens ball game go Shep? I think I remember he had one ?

I have enjoyed the odd cigar every now and then but don't know what I'm doing really so have gotten a few duds. btw the only youngen we have is a 3 yr. old girl. All she does is scream, laugh and run around naked all day. No ball for her yet.

Where is the hobby shop? I'll be in town this weekend. Might be worth checking out.

If you're familiar w/ the area and if you're in the east Valley here you go:

Hwy. 60E to Greenfield exit
South on Greenfield
The Hobby Shop will be on your left (east) side about 1/4 mile down.
If you reach Baseline Rd. you've gone too far; turn around.

Who do you feel should be officially credited with the creation of the "Detective Story"

Wilkie Collins
Edgar Allen Poe.

If you don't understand the question or answer don't worry. I'm aiming this question at Amateur/Professional Historians who also enjoy a good crime read.

It is indeed the Anything thread where any topic (besides politics) is fair game. Unfortunately I have no good knowledge base to answer your question. I like a good yarn as much as the next, but am not up on the authors of said genre. Poe was more poetic mystery/horror than anything though am I correct?

Good morning all. Another long Saturday for me. Out the door at 7a and prob. won't get home until 8 or 9p. Plus which I'm waiting for a call to see if I head out to TX for the aftermath of the big blow. Hard to say, but I'm half expecting a call. Appears damage and devestation was extensive. Too bad for those that live there. Hope everyone here made out all right. I think our friend Unit91 is in Phx this weekend to enjoy a little of our 100 deg. heat. Enjoy your trip. It's an exceptionally large Coconut Crab - a purely terrestrial species of Hermit Crab (it will drown in water). It's officially the largest land arthropod on earth. They can weigh up to 10 pounds, have a leg span of up to a meter, a carapace diameter of up to a foot and live for over 30 years. It's found in a wide swath of south Pacific Islands from Easter Island to Indonesia. It's a popular exotic pet in Japan

I used to eat crab a lot when I was younger. I've even killed, prepared, and cooked live crab in my day. From what I remember, the meat is tastier and sweeter from a smaller crab. Larger crabs tend to have less tasty, more tough meat.

I just got back from a walk with two friends. My knees are killing me beacause it's about 95% humidity here in Boston right now. I was just listening to Maurizio Pollini's recording of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata and it has made me long to get on my piano and play. Goodnight all!

I'd just gotten back from a hike up Mt. Major when I answered about the coconut crab. Really gorgeous view of Lake Winnipesaukee from the summit, but man it was some work gettin' up there....the last quarter is hand over foot cliff climbing (with my one year old on my back). We went down the opposite trail (the red one) which is longer but without the cliffs to negotiate (still has a few rocks to climb down). Just got a call from my girlfriend. Her graphing calculator just stopped working for no reason. Earlier this weekend, her cellular phone broke. She was also on a plane a couple weeks ago and lost her music player on the trip. I'm trying to help her out with a couple of things because she doesn't handle stress too well.

If any of you know where to pick up phones that will work on the Verizon network (old Verizon phones, Verizon compatible CDMA phones, etc.), I'd really appreciate the knowledge.

On a happier note, I had a great relaxing day today. I may have lived the definition of lazy Sunday. I also had a delicious breakfast this morning that consisted of eggs, three slices of bacon, two turkey breakfast sausages, a hash brown, an Eggo waffle (hey... I can't make EVERYTHING from scratch, can I?) with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries, and some white tea. I only ate one other meal today as a result. A light dinner of fresh made biscuits and sweet Italian sausage in a cream sauce.

I've got extra phones lying around that take SIM cards. Unfortunately, Verizon doesn't use SIM cards, so I'm stuck looking for a phone that was made specifically for/by Verizon or an unlocked CDMA phone that Verizon would accept onto their network.

Should I bring some crab over for breakfast?

If any of you have access to check your 401k's or other plans I highly recommend having a look. I moved all my money awhile ago and am so glad I did. Many of the funds I have the option of using have tanked over the 12 month cycle. Todays news about the Lehman Bros. is not going to help matters a bit.

On a more pos. note my Broncos pulled out a squeaker (w/ a little help from the ref) yesterday to go to 2 - 0. Speaking of WOOT! And speaking of that ref, it was Ed Hochuli who just happens to be a Phoenix attorney. Pretty facinating guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Hochuli) if you've never heard of him.

401k...I've been contributing to mine ever since I landed my current job. Getting in at 24 and working for a great company that is generous with the contribution matching is great, but for a while I really worried about the little ups and downs quite a bit. Now I realize that market fluctuations are the name of the game and I'm riding them out. If I were to pull up stakes and move on, I'd take a hit. By continuing to throw money at it I look at it as "buying low" with the hopes of someday (long term) "selling high." Of course, being this early in the game these are risks I'm willing and comfortable making. 10 years from now I'll be taking a more proactive and conservative approach. Just so you guys don't think I'm nuts, though, it's not like my retirement fund is tanking and I'm "waiting for the market to turn."

Don't know if this is because of the browser/computer I'm on, if it's a problem linking pics using that 'sun & mountain' icon or what. So what do you see? Has anybody else experienced this?

It has to be something with linking pics using that 'sun & mountain' icon. It's a handy little tool because it's a real pain getting pics pared down to the tiny file size B&B allows. However if it doesn't work right what good is it? Grrrrrr.

EDIT: After thinking on it a minute, maybe there are copywrite issues w/ online pics huh? I'm not savy enough to know.

Sometimes, servers that host images will realize that they're being linked to by a website other than the one that the image is supposed to be on. When we use the sun and mountain icon, we're actually linking to another website and using their bandwidth to display images on B&B. Every time someone takes a look at a thread with a linked image in it, the host of the image (the original place it was found) is the one whose bandwidth is used. Some servers realize this is happening and as such, don't allow access to the image from external sites.

This isn't the best worded answer, but I hope you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.

Thanks Dom. It pretty much sums up what I had in mind. I figured it had something to do w/ the host servers. Makes for kind of limited usage of that feature doesn't it?

No problem, Shep. Most servers don't really care when you link to them. A lot of the smaller ones do, however, as they have limited bandwidth. Most of the time you'll be lucky enough to link to a server that doesn't care. When you actually need it, though, it won't work (Murphy's Law).

Gents, I have now posted about this in two other threads of mine so I won't go into great detail here. If you are having trouble with slickness in any of your soaps or creams I have just one word for you: glycerin. What a difference it can make. If you want to read more I have a glycerin thread over in the General forum or click the link in my sig. line for a post there as well.

Hey guys. Tomorrow my wife and I are going to scout out several 2 acre lots for sale to build on and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts/advice to throw out there in regards to building vs. buying a first home.

In the Western Wisconsin market, it's pretty much wide open and 2 acre lots are starting at around $30,000. I've heard that builders will pretty much bend over backwards these days to stay working, so negotiation leverage is plentiful. On the flip side, there are also brand new homes that have been built, but are just sitting there. We found one on a beautiful 2 acre lot that we absolutely love. Split level, 3 car garage, 1000 sq. ft. finished upstairs, 1000 unfinished basement. Stainless steel appliances, central air...reduced to $179,000.

At any rate, it's great to have options. We aren't looking to buy until next Spring, but we're slowly getting into the process, looking at houses and lots, and just enjoying the experience.

Since you've got the time, Cory, I say build. There's an extra measure of pride involved in owning a home that you took part in the design of, particularly if you're drawn to such things as home shows and magazines as sources of ideas. Whatever you decide, good luck!

On a related note, damn your fancy "options" and your affordable housing market...

On an unrelated note, I do believe that, were I the owner of the Eagles, I would have dismissed DeSean Jackson from the team at halftime last night. I'm getting really tired of NFL showboating, and wonder if it's not beginning to damage the league.

Cory, are you talking about having a custom home built? Or are you thinking of picking a floor plan from a list? Around here mostly your choices are the latter. You can get a custom home built in the PHX metro area but it'll cost you plenty. Anyway we're talking WI here so I don't know the market there. Given the choice at the right price I would def. go custom home. Here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=758162#post758162) is a post I made in another thread w/ a couple suggestions for home features I wish I had.

Beautiful long pass completion and run to the end zone. While high-stepping into the endzone in preparation for the dance portion of the competition, Mr. Jackson decided to flip the ball behind him -- before reaching the endzone. The play was originally ruled a TD, then challenged. No one from Dallas had picked up the ball (the officials had signaled the TD, after all), thus giving Philly the ball on the Dallas one yard line by rule. Philly scored the TD on the next play.

That's the right way to do it, take your time and make the right choice. Nothing's wrong with either way, if you find a house you already love, and is still brand new (be careful taking the cellophane wrapper off those NOS homes), then go for it. On the other hand, if you'd rather build, you have a base-custom blueprint already!!! Just get your custom Linux Cat-5 cabling included, and you're good to go

seriously, taking the time to do it right and be sure of having a house meet all your needs to be a home is a must.
OTOH, once you go to other areas of the world and see how happy and contempt people are to have wood walls as opposed to cardboard, it really makes you take new stock in what you "need" versus what you "want", at least for me it does

...which is why I cannot stand to watch the NFL channels recap show. All the high-steppin', shuckin' and jivin' doesn't do it for me. I like watching full backs make TD's; they're just so happy to finally get in the end zone all they can usually muster is a crooked spike. Generally speaking the same can be said of running backs and QB's. They are the work horses who rip off yards and get it done. Receivers are just a necessary evil that make the game more exciting and oh boy do they know it. Blahhhhhh!

I like a great catch as much as the next guy and the west coast style of offense did add to the games' excitement but when will it all stop? We've already had the Sharpie and the pom poms. Now I'm waiting for the day when there's an assistant whose job it will be to wait on the sidelines with a box full of props and costumes. Then they can really put on a magic show for us.

So how was the trip? What part of town did you end up in?

The part I remember was great. I'm under the impression that the part I don't was also great. I still am not 100% clear on what part of town I was in. Vistancia? Peoria then. At least that is where my aunt lives. My wife loves it out there and keeps asking when we're moving. I'm not totally sold and would much prefer Washington.

On the one hand we could afford a house. On the other I just started a new job in June. One that I'm actually enjoying and doing well at. What I do is easy enough to find a job in if you're good, but the exact position is harder to nail. I could probably use my uncle to find me a job. My dad is building a hot rod shop in the near future and might need someone to run it. It's all up in the air and very open for discussion.

I think if my dad gave me things to do the right way (aka my way) I'd go in a heartbeat.

My cousins that claim I corrupted them with the punk rocks many years ago were there. That meant a lot of drinking. Let me put it to you this way... I haven't puked from drinking in at least 7yrs. Seven. My wife had actually never seen me puke for any reason. The lesson is unless you regularly polish off a 30 pack (apparently the cousins do) then you probably won't be able to without wanting to die.

Good times.

Peoria seems like a nice place. Glendale has the Coyotes (really maybe the only reason to go there). I hear the new football stadium is really nice. Phoenix is a lot bigger than I really thought.

It's a damn shame when one of the great ones tanks like this. I read all the poor reviews before hand so I was prepared for a dud, but I thought "hey, it's Pacino, how bad could it be?". How bad it is would take too long to explain for our purposes. Let's just say from beginning to end it's full of implausible circumstances, impossible time frames, ham-handed acting, childish script and screenplay and third rate dialogue. Just to name a few. Pacino aside there are a couple other fairly notable actors in this POS making it all the more distressing.

This guy gave us Dog Day Afternoon, And Justice for All, Serpico and Heat. What in God's name was he thinking signing on to do this tripe? Like I said, it's a damn shame. Save your money. Trust me.

I sorta posted this thought in another thread but wanted to put it here also.

Has anyone else noted how much of this stuff is personal preference. The basics are there but we apply them in our own way.. But eventhough we do things so different at times we are all drawn together here..

What? I do everything exactly the same as everyone else. Really.

I'm going to extend your point to life in general, Fuzzy. That's what you get from bringing up things with a guy that studied social psychology. :tongue_sm

The internet is honestly a great thing (sure it's a bad thing a lot of the time, but used correctly, it's good). How many of us would have actually met and discussed things in real life without these message boards?

The nice thing about forums like this is that it puts almost everyone on a relatively equal level. Some of us are double the age of others. Some of us are musicians, some of us ride motorbikes, etc., etc. The internet removes our identities and gives us new ones in a virtual world that everyone starts off in equally. Sure, there are mods and prestigious old members, but for the most part, we all start off the same way. For example, no one gives me any lip about my accent on a forum. That's a plus.

I've got a pretty strange one. I grew up in a couple of different places and have also adopted a slight Boston accent from all my time in Boston. Sometimes people think I'm from Boston, sometimes that I'm from England, sometimes that I'm South African, etc., etc.

I've actually got a really funny story. A few years back, I was playing percussion in an ensemble. We had someone come in to listen once and she heard me talking. She says 'what kind of accent is that?' I quickly responded, saying with a completely straight face that it was a German accent. She then says 'I thought so.' My mates and I almost died from holding in the laughter. It was definitely a great, great moment in history and should go down in the history books forever.

btw I've really taken to that little smiley dude who blows his tongue at you. Sometimes he says it better than any eloquent speech ever could.

On to other business. I've taken to the night shave here lately and it's working out ok. It works for me 'cause my beard really doesn't grow that fast, but I did worry at first as I don't shower at night. No problem. The biggest prep for me is to slather a bit of premix on the face while lathering. That gets those whiskers nice and ready to be shaved. At night I have plenty of time, I'm not sleepy, if I do get any cuts they have the night to heal up and hitting the sack w/ a fresh face does the trick. Not sayin' it'll be an every night affair, but it's definitely going to be a recurring event. If you haven't done it, give it a try.

I forever equate Mr. Whipple to a Playboy cartoon I saw once many years ago. You can imagine what he was squeezing .

Sometimes I shave at night. Usually, when I want to shave with a straight, I'll do it at night because I won't be in a rush to get out of the door. You don't really want to be rushed while shaving with a straight. Bad things may happen.

A really good buddy is a guy you can call at 2:30 AM, say "Meet me in the woods--bring a shovel." And they won't ask questions.

I was going to make a post earlier saying that I'd like to instill a little optimism in here by saying that my day didn't totally suck. However, I learned that my girlfriend's mother got sent to the hospital earlier today and now I've got a headache and feel groggy (no, I haven't been drinking).

It may just be one of those days for all of us. I'm going to go hop in the shower and see if that helps me feel better. I think I'll take a nice shave with some mint cream or lime soap and a straight too. That might perk me up. I'll be back after I take a shower, shave, and practice piano to lurk on B&B and write a couple articles.

I found this thread earlier today (took me a while, I know) and volunteered to cover a few topics. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=54445 If any of you fine gentlemen would like to assist on this, please do. Send Tim a PM.

I hear ya. I was recently promoted to a senior position (same job, new title, and now I'm "running my team," i.e., I'm accountable for the bottom line of the team's performance.

Some background. I graduated college with a Bachelor's degree in German. I'm now a Senior Computer Operator in the IT segment of a large specialty insurance company. I knew nothing about computers, networks, mainframes, etc., and would constantly stress about my ability and knowledge. I would fall into the trap of asking my more experienced co-workers about anything before I would stop, analyze a situation, locate the documentation, and figure it out for myself. Well, before long, I wound up on another team to balance out what was an extremely under experienced group. I took it as my opportunity to shine and take on a leadership role, which is what I did. My hard work paid off, I learned a lot, and I was recognized with my promotion a few months ago. Now, however, I see my co-workers falling into the same traps as I did. I'm quickly realizing how much of an annoyance I must have been when I would interrupt someone's work to ask a question that I should have had the answer to (or at least known where to find the answer).

While I can teach them what they need to know and where to find it, I can't teach them self-reliance. I'm afraid that has to come from within themselves and this has become a source of stress for me. If every cloud has a silver lining, though, again I have to reiterate that being put into this position has taught me in a trial by fire sort of way a lot of skills that will go far to advance myself in my career in the future.

I never finished college. That was a function of finding my passion and a very good in early in life. I'm in a good position and only have further to go. That makes me very lucky. I was the guy that went and found out (still do, actually) everything I could on any given subject. I need to know more than the next person. Partly personality and partly a drive to stay ahead in my career.

At a very young age (I wasn't even able to legally drink) I was already running a company I helped start from the ground up. Been recognized by manufacturers, magazines, etc. I sacrificed a lot to get there and left that company when my life started to fall apart. All that is great, but I think it's really ruined other people for me. I've been told over and over that I need to realize other people aren't like me. They aren't going to work as hard or be as resourceful and I find that frustrating.

What really kills me is people with XX years in the industry that still have ZERO clue about how to do their job. They don't know where to find things, how to do simple tasks, constantly make THE SAME mistakes, etc. Anything that needs to be said more than once is becoming wasteful in my opinion. Is that the best approach? No, probably not. I'm working on that, though.

Make all the mistakes you want, but always learn and never repeat the same mistake. I don't think that is too much to ask.

The above might not make a lot of sense. It's just scattered thoughts on the subject. Ramblings of an insane man, really. Insane - just ask my wife.

Oh yeah, the package actually leaves today. I forgot tobacco at home yesterday and couldn't, in good conscience mail your gift without.

My wife says I obsess. I'll find something I like, learn as much as I can and then move on to the next thing. Something else is learning how to do things. I see someone else do something, figure I can as well, learn how and then rarely come back to it. Welding is something I love to do and learned because a friend could do it. Juggling, too. Haha. I can crochete and sew, too - just don't tell the guys.

Toh-may-toh, toh-mah-toh. She calls it obsession, I call it being a guy.

Good morning gents. Nice to see a couple of you feeling better anyway. Ray (burnwood) must be suffering in bed w/ his cold.

Commendable attitudes towards life and work you guys have. Exhibiting a bit of type A personality it appears. I've got a bit of it myself, and I know exactly where it comes from: my dad. He was/is a driven man, constantly on the go and in search of knowledge regardless the topic. I'm the same way although not quite as driven as him. I too strived to learn and glean as much as I could in my chosen field and pushed myself to excel. Unfortunately it doesn't always pay off in govt. service. #1, mediocrity is allowed to push it's way through the ranks and subpar people continue to operate. #2, promoting often times comes down to how political you are rather than how good you are. I recognize these factors also exist in the private sector, but I don't think to the degree they do here.

I was mentored by a group of very sharp old-timers when I was coming up. They put me on the path of hard work and knowledge. They also didn't mind their tongues and spoke up when stupidity reared its head. Not always a smart move and unfortunately a trait I picked up from them. I have risen in the ranks, but seem to have hit a ceiling at least for now. The trade off is good pay and benefits that are fairly secure regardless of the economy so I can't complain too hard.

Anyway good on you two for excelling in your fields. I would posit most at B&B fit this mold and is what attracts us to wetshaving. The preparation, the precision, the dedication and the time spent are hallmark characteristics of driven individuals.

While I agree with this sentiment 100%, let's not leave out the real reason why we wet shave in the traditional manner...

...cool toys!

Can't look at it now Dom, but I'll check it later.

For those that have been following (and I know you have), Shep is off to get his tooth pulled here in about 10 mins. :cursing: :mad1: :incazzato :a52:

Say a quick prayer.

On the plus side, you get the award for quickest post-surgical return to B&B. Seriously, feel better.

Happy to report that I'm done typing for the day. The glass of Wild Turkey Rare Breed in my hand seems to be getting emptier and emptier the longer I sit here. Shep, it occurs to me that a similar concoction might be just the ticket. For purely medical reasons, of course...

I got a question if anyone cares to answer.. I too did not finish college. Went for several years had over all ok grades, just changed my major several times and did not get a peice of paper. How does the world see people like me? I think I have good manners. Get along well with people, but there is nothing fancy about me at all. How big a drawback is the no college degree thing?

terrible, terrible, terrible...no one not finishing college can possibly amount to much.....
and everyone who finishes college is absolutely the class of the planet.......
of course, you can't sense my sarcasm through the cat5, so, I was being sarcastic
how many college dropouts (high school DO's, even) are world class leaders and businessmen/women?
how many college grads are bums?

the piece of paper has some credibility, depending on field - want to be a surgeon? gotta have it. own your own business? it helps, but not necessary.
it's what you make of yourself, how you carry yourself, how you perform, etc.
