I keep bacon grease in a pickle jar, therefore pickles are our friends.

Ah, but what kind of pickles? I'm a big fan of spicy dills, myself. Of course, all of the jarred stuff pales in comparison to fresh deli pickles, but I've no quick pipeline for those.

yeah, and my football news is looking good too.
2 points:
1) primary concern is with the O line, but it should come around nicely
2) the defense: word is this year's starters are every bit as good as last year's, and the backup is even better, they just lack the experience of the starters
woo-hoo!

Better still, your early season games are going to be cakewalks for the most part, with the possible exception of week one vs. Va Tech (and yeah, I'm including the Cats...) -- ideal for giving that O line some confidence, I'd think. You should have a fun season!

I think the biggest problem with Vista is that Microsoft is not only competing with Linux, but with itself. Really, even if people tell me 7 is the most amazing OS out there, I'm still going to stick with XP because it runs well on my hardware, it's what I'm used to, and I don't feel like burning the extra money*. That mentality (in my experience) extends to most of the XP crowd. The only thing 7 has going for it is that people think Vista sucks in ways I can't describe without getting banned, so at least it's not Vista. I can't tell you how many "at least it's not Vista" jokes I've heard.
I'm the only one in my family not running it, and that's the way I like it.

yeah, I'd think it'd be good to use a fair-to-middlin' setup, that way the equipment doesn't take up the slack of a lack-luster lather....makes sense to me anyway, but I have been wrong before...

Seems to me you would want to check several variables. I suppose, if you use different setups, you would need multiple controls as well. Perhaps you could use your favorite setup until you get the correct formula, then experiment with different setups for final comparison.

I've always thought this would be a fun way to spend a summer (or some days, a career!).
My grandpa used to do this and loved it. I considered it too, but it is rough on a marriage unless SWMBO goes with you. Husband and wife teams are a good way to go. I met and OTR driver who told me he considered himself a professional tourist.
We need a cleanup in aisle 11944!

Six days and counting until Ireland. :w00t: (If anyone watching this thread is over there, tell the boys down at Guinness to up production a bit.)
The days really start slowing down during the final countdown, don't they.

No, flame bait for dorks goes like this:
Voyager is the best of the Star Trek series.
Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition was best, dammit!
Greedo shot first!
Esperanto: because Klingon is for losers.
rare-events logit is cheating, because you're really sampling your uninteresting data rather than examining the whole sample of data as-is!

I must really be getting old -- I understand the first, second, fourth, and most of the last (they are the obvious ones ) but the other two don't mean a thing to me (neither does the Linux reference, for that matter).

And the statistics entry was mainly for myself -- political scientists often have tough debates (read: shouting matches) about the validity of examining political trends/events with statistics -- and which statistical method is really appropriate to use, in a given situation. Sociology, if there's more of a psuedo-science than sociology then I don't know what it is. I took a social psychology class back when I was a undergrad that was taught by a sociologist. That man was so full of shit that he smelled like a heap of manure.

We're just clever enough to call it a science and have found a way to get others to take on most of the research.
A proper sociological study involves sending out a psychologist to study behavior and a physical anthropologist to study surroundings while the sociologist watches interactions between various social positions(castes, jobs, monarchy, and the like). Then the sociologist combines the data, makes a few well informed assumptions and publishes the research with his name at the top in big letters and the others' beneath in about an 8 point font.
