Geez! You guys are scaring me! Where's that American spirit that drives you to ..... skip out of work early! Warm out, sunny...its the American thing-to-do! Besides, boss has already skipped!

I am the embodiment of that spirit. I didn't skip out. Nay. I rode the clock on the bench outside with a root beer float watching all the lovely young ladies walking by in their summer finery.

It was a good day.

Not to be too flippant, but many, many of the threads are nonsense threads already. My understanding was that the Barber Shop was a safe haven for them. It's not like they were posting in forums dedicated to serious matters. Oh wait, this is a shaving site

You're right -- up to a point, I think. We're running amok and our joyous enthusiasm is probably overloading some of the mods. This current episode started (mostly with me) when Chip was going to be gone for a while at his brother's wedding. We've done a great, great job keeping everything fun, silly, and totally free from any acrimony -- making us less of a burden than, say, any politics thread, or the "cedarfurnitureangrymob (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=86747)" thread, or the IRS thread that's currently bonkers. However, we still might dial things back down from eleven (that is, eleven nonsense threads concurrently!) and make a show of good-faith self-policing.

FWIW, while I am certainly up for as much appropriate silliness as is reasonably possible in the threads, this one has definitely stopped being fun by virtue of its limited appeal. I have started to feel like I am intruding on someone else's private conversation, which is certainly not the point of participating in a forum like this. Perhaps if the mods stopped awarding Experience Points for this type of stuff, it would cut down on it a bit.

IMHO.

Sorry.

Indeed you are correct. I had actually hoped that the occasional merging of threads would incorporate new folks in the larger "silly" threads. In-jokes are fun, and unfortunately exclusionary by definition -- however, please don't abandon the thread or allow yourself to feel excluded. This thread (post count increasing as it is) is vast, huge, and folks float in and out of it all the time. One of the best characteristics of B&B is its community tradition of welcoming and openness, even among folks who erstwhile won't agree about much.

You give this thread way too much credit if you think any sort of "conversation" goes on here. This place kills more brain cells than alcohol. It is full of the meandering thoughts of those who sit the fencepost between the sane and the insane. In fact, if you thought meaningful conversation occurred here, then perhaps we need to question your sanity. ;). Jump in, the water is fine, and everyone is welcome. Topics and themes change so often in here that you will be up to speed in no time. Plus, if you don't like the direction, change the subject matter of the current insanity yourself. I'm still looking for my 5 blades turbo charged shave wiisel in the mail. Don't know what that is? Scroll back several hundred posts here and you will find out. Have fun. However, if you decide to venture into the dark nether regions of this thread, be sure and leave a trail of bread crumbs so that you can find your way back out again.
