It would depend on the intention of the one making the pun. Of course, according to some philosopher's intential existence is all in your mind anyway (intentional being as opposed to extra-mental, or physical being), so we might posit that yet, puns are alwas intended.

Your Brush

Ask for advice on how to:

dry your brush
dry your soap
wash your feet
wash your hair
hold a towel to your face

They were ranked in one poll (I forget which now) for precisely one week. I'll be in Kentucky next week, but I can already hear the calls for Gillespie's head on a platter from here (which doesn't seem fair, but then again, neither is his inability to get this team to act like one). Meeks and Patterson could hypothetically return, but why would they?

Hopefully teams supported by other regular readers of this thread are having better years!

LOL... There's a lot of talk about it amongst other schools and people who only follow football. We are Ranked 6th in the country in baseball (according to "Baseball America"). We have a consistently excellent track program (we produce a lot of olympians including Michael Johnson). Our girls went to the college world series recently, and our tennis team is always competitive (national titles there as well). As far as overall sports, we are consistently really good. It's just that we don't do very well in the big money sports. As far as we are concerned, we never want out because we get so much money from the other schools doing well in the bowl games...

That makes a lot of sense. Big 12 bowl money is certainly massive! UK has been working hard to develop a good baseball program (though not quite Baylor good!). When I was around a few years back we were good in shooting sports, as well. I suppose that the best program at UK these days is actually cheerleading. They've won an insane number of national championships (raising the question: how the heck does one objectively judge competence at leading cheers?). Then again, the UK cheerleaders do tend to positively affect one's enjoyment of the basketball games, as well.

At least Picard didn't try to have sex with every female alien that the Enterprise encountered.

Though the NCC-1701 was more like an exploration/warship than the NCC-1701D, which was more like an armed space-minivan with cushy theaters and schools for the kiddies (WTF -- kiddies are just brought along into the Romulan Neutral Zone or Cardassian space or against the Borg without regard for their safety? Isn't that reckless endangerment or something??).

The NCC-1701 behaved more like a WWII warship (you could fix some things with chewing gum and baling wire), while the NCC-1701D looked more like technology you'd actually see in the 24th century.

Sadly enough, I agree with you. Exceptions are 1) Men and women in space for ages at a time? Of course there are going to be kids! The politicians are still arguing about abortion, I'm sure. Throw mixed species into the equation and you have yourself a whole new debate. 2) I respect Kirk for his "Johnny Appleseed" spirit.

How do you like living in Japan? When I was in Junior College, I played for the NJCAA All-Star team that traveled to Sendai (spelling?)to play baseball against our Japanese counterparts. We had a great time and loved my trip, and I have wanted to go back. I've imagined that I would like living there very much, but it would be hard on my wife for sure.

It was nice because I had made a friend that lived in Osaka who traveled up and acted like a tour guide for me and some buddies. He freed us up to really get out and see the countryside.

Well, I see buying collectibles on Ebay as paying for the convenience of not having to spend all that time digging through antique stores yourself. I'm not trying to justify the extreme price hikes on Ebay, but it does stand to reason that a diminishing supply (because they're no longer produced) and increased demand will eventually increase the price.

To quote a business/marketing book I really enjoyed but can't remember the title of: "When you only have three puppies and ten buyers every puppy is the pick of the litter".

Great point. I don't mind the prices on ebay for that very reason. However, I don't buy much there either.

Yep, good thread and as for some of the collectable razor's prices on eBay. That's kinda the reason I went with a cheaper Parker 22R(?) just in case I didn't care for the DE experience. Has anyone had any problems with their Parker razors. That inflated picture is kinda scary, ;-)

Human resources rules are really dumb. Universities post jobs that are "internal only" but they have to make them visible on their jobs website. So you can actually apply for a job that they're only posting so they can promote someone internally. Even if -- just for argument's sake -- you might be more qualified than the person they are "hiring"/promoting.

They often try to make the job so specific that nobody but "the one" can be qualified for the new job, too.

At least 80% of the jobs I would apply for at (name withheld).edu are "internal only" postings.

Yeah, those kind of rules are really dumb. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try we can't get people to do what's right. All the rules and laws just make people find another way to do exactly what they want to do. :frown:

Well... there's the rumor of a Midwest B&B get together at the Mall of America. I was planning on meeting a few fellows there on 3-22-09, the last day of break, when I take my step daughter back to her school in Minneapolis.

Other than that, not much. I have a few chores to get done, like put my office building up for sale.

I don't mind paying for convenience, but almost 90 bones for a $20(at best) Tech is a bit much.
