Ray is right. Given this thread's generally preschool-esque disposition, we go by tee-ball rules. Both teams always win. No losers. It's all about the love of the game and a lack of hurt feelings here in TAT. Now let's all shake hands and go out for pizza pi. (Coach Ray's treat.)

actually, that was the other driving impetus for the purchase, the word "parts" in the post...I'm thinking about turning some matching wood handles and brushes...yeah, I know, it's been done before, but not by me! There's got to be room for mediocre work around here somewhere, what with Bob and Rodd doing first rate work, that's leaves every level below them mine for the taking!

oh shoot, that reminds me...I have some updates to do...been getting bad readings on the scale, found the battery to be low (I really don't like electronic scales)
I didn't notice since I'd only step on once and go.
my wife decided to try to weigh her puppy, so she stepped on, got a weight, held the puppy and weighed again - 5 pounds lighter! tried again, 10 pounds heavier! so, I've got to start over again with new starting weight, I'm not happy about since it's higher than previous, and I've lost some weight already, so I won't be able to count it!
oh well, it's not many opportunities you get to say you lost 12.5 pounds in 8 seconds!

I prefer football, too, though soccer was the sport I spent the most time in growing up. It, um, didn't take. If I had more spare time these days, I'd join my wife in her semi-competitive curling pursuits. Seriously -- curling. Fun stuff!

LOL...He has taken a passion for my old position. He is a Nose Guard.

I coached him all the way through until High School. He's one of those kids that is like a sponge when it's something he likes. This gave me the opportunity to teach him collage moves at age 11 through 13.

This year he had 104 tackles, 5 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recovery's ans 17 blocked passes. This kid is an animal.

Turns out the guy who ran the place was from... Ann Arbor.

Crepes were good. Burrito was great. Big as a brick.

Hmmm... New Crepe place in town. Perhaps I will give them a try this weekend.

Hello Taters... still kicking.. just distracted and off target.

One of the local elementary schools had a fire. They are now squeezed into my middle school. We are gladly working to make accommodations, just trying to work things out.

Then, daughter was suspended for multiple days and will be now moved to another school.

So it has been a bit odd here to say the least.

You've been missed Justin. Nevermind that creepy looking guy in the car that's been tracking your every move for the past few days -- we'll recall him shortly now that you've checked in. Oh, and we're putting two ii's in words now. One of Micah's promotional schemes, IIIIRC.

Sincerely though, sorry to hear about your daughter -- I'll keep the prayers for peace coming.

And yeah, try the crepes -- get a savory one (e.g. ham and cheese) and a sweet one. Is there anything crepedom can't do?

Jac
01-27-2009, 01:52 PM
It's a '46 Aeronca Champ... My parent's gave me a tailwheel Discovery Flight (my instructor just got the Champ a couple of months ago, so I'm kind of his first tailwheel student) for my birthday. I didn't get to use it 'til just this weekend, due to weather* and scheduling, but I now have 2 hours of tailwheel time logged. And let me tell you, if you're ever feeling a bit too sure of yourself, go try to learn how to fly a taildragger... it'll humble you right up!

It's a great, classic airplane.

*As you can see, weather was almost a factor that day, too... it was really foggy that morning, and by the time we were ready to go, it had lifted everywhere except the direction our destination was in:001_rolle . So we went up around the pattern and climbed some to see just how far it extended, and it turned out to be just a strip about 7 or 8 miles wide; most of that was over a dry lake bed, so we decided it would be safe enough to just fly over it. My first VFR "on top". It turned out to be a beautiful day, though (see the picture below)...

As far as vernacular and creatures of a certain aviary variety, that episode of Family Guy has been turning up a lot lately. I can't help myself, but every once in awhile after my wife has forgotten about it, I'll bring up "the word" and we have a big laugh, like a couple of drunken monkeys. This last weekend we were checking out one of the local junque shops and they had an LP of "silly songs". Yes, you guessed it. We now own our very own copy of "Surfin' Bird."

The bird, the bird
The bird is the word
The bird, bird, bird,

Fennel, saffron, and licorice Pernod liqueur flavor this hearty chicken stew. Plan ahead to marinate the chicken overnight. The marinade is used in the stew, so do not toss it.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes
Ingredients:
4 tomatoes, peeled, cored, seeded and chopped
2 large onions, quartered
4 garlic cloves, crushed
4 large fennel bulbs with feathery leaves attached, coarsely chopped
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup Pernod licorice- flavored aperitif
2 pinches saffron
1/3 cup fresh thyme
4 bay leaves
Salt
Black pepper
4 chicken legs with thighs attached, skin removed
1 pound boiling potatoes, peeled and quartered
2 cups chicken stock
Preparation:
The day before: combine the tomatoes, onions, garlic, fennel, olive oil, Pernod, saffron, thyme, bay leaves, salt, and pepper in a large covered casserole. Stir to blend and add the chicken, stir to coat the chicken.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours to blend the seasonings.

At least 1 hour before you begin to prepare the dish, remove the chicken from the refrigerator.

Stew the chicken in its marinade, covered, over medium heat, stirring from time to time, for about 30 minutes.

Add the potatoes and chicken stock, simmer until the potatoes are cooked (30 to 45 minutes).

Taste for seasoning and serve stew in warmed shallow soup bowls.

Yield: 4 servings

A few months back, two of our members, myself and profsaffel made what is arguably the 3rd worse pirate movie ever made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JvUzUjrC0s)--I'm looking at you "Cutthroat Island" and "Ice Pirates"-- deemed by critics as "missing something." Well, after careful review, I've finally figured out what it was missing.

All this talk reminds me of that time I invented the crowd. It used to be impossible to get a "Wave" going before that. You may remember it, it forked into Angry Mob, Large Gathering, and Sea Of People. Some of it's derivatives include Christmas Shoppers, and Soccer Hoodlums.

Actually it was v .56se but if you want to run it in a larger population environment, the Frankenstein module isn't necessary, you can also substitute Alucard.count.rom or in more arid climates, mum.e is acceptable. Personally, I forgo all those and avoid the whole thing by installing the Politician module... I believe the one I run is the arrog3nt-pr1ck deamon. It appears to be the most popular choice in European nations, though it is certainly gaining popularity in the U.S. and Canada as well.

who's gonna win?
I'm picking the Steelers, their one of my favorites, but really I'd like to see the Cardinals win, I just feel Pittsburg is gonna be too much for them defensively.
halftime, I usually ignore it, we usually have a youth super bowl party and do a devotional and share time during half time, but there wasn't any interest this year, everyone is either out of town or got other plans, so who knows.
I posted a 27-17 Steeler win in the shave stick thread, so we'll see...I base that on a dream I had where the score was close going into the 4th, an Arizona turnover led to a Steeler momentum shift and scoring spree...guess we'll see in roughly 24 hours...

Gruder...Hope your *Deleted - inappropriate content* went well.

My answers for Sunday:

1. I think the *Deleted - inappropriate guess* are gonna clinch it.

2. Good question. I think we will watch *Deleted - inappropriate content*, but we will probably Tivo the *Deleted - inappropriate content* and watch it later.

That's an absolute given. In fact, it would be inconsistent with the overall iinsaniity of thiis thread for there to be absolute contiinuiity. I mean, really, can insane people actually have a running conversation that others can understand, or even follow? Good post by the way. Welcome to TAT. Visit here often if you dare.

Have done, sometimes, often, occasionally, rarely, randomly, secretly and openly. I usually bring a pi to share. As the saying goes, been there done it got the

I don't know if this is relevant, but what is in this thread?

I've always wanted to know how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Wow, I thought our reputation was better established than this. We have a lot of work to do.

And welcome, fellow Texan! Quite a few reside here, as well as some Texans-at-Heart, whether they know it or not.

Did somebody light the TAT signal?

meanwhile... elsewhere in the TAT-dom

GALAHAD: "I have seen the TAT! I have seen it - here in this forum!"
DINGO: "No! Oh, no! Bad ... bad Zoot!"
GALAHAD: "What is it?"
DINGO: "Bad, wicked, naughty Zoot! She has been setting fire to our beacon, which - I have just remembered - is TAT-shaped ... It is not the first time we've had this problem."
GALAHAD: "It's not the real TAT?"

rain? what is rain but non frozen frost and snow. I think we have multiple discussions on the frozen form. If nothing else, there was the scrape of the day, and the never actually posted shoveling of the day.

Okay, maybe rain is covered. But what about Momma, hound dogs and trains?

Oh, and pickup trucks too.

I do recall a discussion of Thomas the Tank Engine one evening, so trains are covered. Jim, did we ever chat about Tennessee football? -- that'd take care of hound dogs.

Geez... I just got a call from my mom yesterday. She wanted to know if we wanted to meet them half way to have my daugher's birthday at a mcdonalds or something. Ugh.. no thankyou.

Now, between that and the Mama Morton post earlier... momma has been in the TAT.

I think I mentioned taking my dog to weekly obedience sessions at least once..

So a dog is in there...

Gotta think about trains and pick up trucks.. Well wait a minute... the dog is being trained...
