EDIT: So as to start no flame wars about posting in other languages...

That says Konbanwa (pronounced Cone-ban-wah) which translates to Good evening.

Therefore, I can cook and sew better than almost anyone I know. So, consider it survival. That is my excuse to retain my Man Card. That and I'm better armed than anyone that has ever tried to take it from me.

Hey, I do the sewing and a lot of the cooking in our house, too. It comes in handy for making outdoor goodies, like bow cases, duffle bags, etc. along with scoring brownie points with my lovely wife when I repair her pants and stuff. Plus I can make a lot of my Cowboy Action Shooting clothes a whole bunch cheaper than I can buy them...

Anybody hear from Randy? He hasn't been on since the 11th. Did he go on vacation without us? :crying:

If he did and didn't invite us, I say we continue not inviting him to any TAT parties. :glare:
ftfy

Hi TATers! Yes, I went on a little trip with Mrs Jakespoppy to London and Paris for the last week+, and we had a great time! :thumbup1:

Way, way too much here even for a "Randy Roll" to catch up. But wow, I missed some good stuff here! I do want to comment on a few things that I was very happy to see....

Oooooo, the Shark is back! May I offer you some seafood to masticate?...
I'm very happy to see the word "masticate" used here on TAT! The word "masticate" is way underused! I used to use the word "masticate" all the time, but Mrs. Jakespoppy thought it sounded like smart alecky when I'd say "masticate me", so now I have to use "bite" or "chew"...:001_rolle

Touche

"Tooshie" is another way underused word. I think when "tooshie" is used here, it should always have a picture. That should be a rule. :thumbup1:

I am starting a weird new project. Otherwise, nothing too new here.
....and Blake, since when is a weird project "new" for you?

.......SBJr has learned how to make farty noises on nearly any surface except carpeting, and I suppose it's only a matter of time on that last one.
....and just for the record, it's actually rather easy to make farty noises on carpet. Why, just yesterday............oh, you mean "fake" farty noises.............nevermind. :blushing:

Apropos of nothing whatsoever, I thought that I would share the news that my first novel....has, as of this morning, become an Amazon Kindlebook (http://www.amazon.com/Complications-Deputies-Book-1-ebook/dp/B004OA6LPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=digital-text&qid=1298050029&sr=1-1)!...

There's not much I can't do, my friend.

Really? Can you fly like Superman? No? Thought not.

Yep, that, plus the occasional (interior) patch of a pants pocket that has been abraded by my keys, is the limit of my tailoring. Wouldn't mind to learn how to hem pants, since, you know, I wear them.

You wear pants? Jesse, you rebel you.

Pants being the key word here.

:lol::lol::lol:

*ahem* I believe _that_ is a "little period."

You and your little periods. :001_rolle

...and you wish you had one. At least that's what you said, once upon a time.

Rich wishes he had a period?

Oddly, hemming pants still makes me nervous! It's more visible than a dress like the one I'm doing.

That or the more probable explanation is that you're simply afraid of pants. There, you knew someone had to say it.

No, it was aimed at club-goers in Europe. Not kids, mercifully, though I'm sure plenty of them acquired crotch-grabbing skills from the cartoon. Sigh.

Yep, that's about fifteen minutes from here, I believe.

Okay, crappy night. We are supposed to have six officers per shift except for weekends when we have five. Tonight, I had three. Four is supposed to be our minimum. I got a second shifter to stay over four hours and thank God he did! We had three patient watches that lasted all night, two lockdowns (One for a shooting and one for a very effective assault), one flight and three bodies. Plus our usual workload. It got a little crazy. The real problem is, there are two fixed post where we are supposed to be stationed. If we have watches, that is a third officer that can't respond to anything. Then, if there is a lockdown, that is a fouth officer that is sitting. Anyone with a first grade math level can figure out why we need four officers. At 03:30, we were down to three officers again with four post needing manned. If our idiot manager would hire the two part time positions we wouldn't have this trouble. Or, if he did his job and looked at the schedule, he should have called someone in. But no, we can't ask him to do his job! But, we survived. I never go to leave my chair except once to use the restroom. I was able to get my other two officers out of their seats for about fifteen minutes each though. Ah, I love being Lieutenant! LOL

I have been complaining but we did alright. Wasn't that bad.

BogoMips (from "bogus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogus)" and MIPS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_instructions_per_second)) is an unscientific measurement of CPU speed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_speed) made by the Linux kernel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel) when it boots, to calibrate an internal busy-loop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Busy-loop).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-lj-0) An oft-quoted definition of the term is "the number of million times per second a processor can do absolutely nothing."[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-quote-1)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-esr-2)

BogoMips (from "bogus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogus)" and MIPS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_instructions_per_second)) is an unscientific measurement of CPU speed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_speed) made by the Linux kernel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel) when it boots, to calibrate an internal busy-loop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Busy-loop).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-lj-0) An oft-quoted definition of the term is "the number of million times per second a processor can do absolutely nothing."[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-quote-1)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips#cite_note-esr-2)

Man, my computer died on me for the day. I got it back up and running today.

Instead of pastrami I had BBQ today. Since I'm in Kansas City, KS, I wanted to try some KC BBQ.

I was so stinking disappointed (sauce tasted like tomato soup) in the offering (recommended by another driver) that after paying my bill I went out to the truck, did a quick google search for the best BBQ in KC and discovered that i was only a couple of miles away from some of the top rated BBQ in KC. I wasted no time in driving over there to cleanse my pallet and found a place to park right across the street (was easier with just the tractor, as I left the trailer in the company drop yard).

Not only was the second place (Oklahoma Joe's BBQ (http://www.oklahomajoesbbq.com/)) way better it was cheaper as well. So now I am happy and still have half of the second sandwich in my cooler for tomorrow. :thumbup1:

Hey congratulations!

Rob, I am curious though. Maybe I'm just igorant about this sort of thing, but what was the long wait?

Short answer is once all results come out they assign a promotion number to everyone selected. Those who were wearing their current rank longer promote first. Those of us who promote faster wait longer. They then spread out all the promotees over an entire year so that the budget doesn't take a massive pay hit all at the same time. The higher your line number the faster you promoted the longer you wait to actually sew on. Sounds kind of like rewarding the slow to promote doesn't it?

Just now used the word "Awesomesauce" for the first time today in a text to my wife. Turns out our eldest is starting to listen to Bluegrass on Sirius XM radio and has taken a liking to Rhonda Vincent.

Update: Wife just texted back, "Are you smoking something?"
It is decidedly awesome that you used that word.

Little one still sick. The Mr. and I coming down with it. That is all.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather, but you probably deserve to catch whatever Mr. C got from keeping him locked up in a wardrobe for most of the winter.

Maybe you oughta give Jamie a space heater for the wardrobe; then he'd at least stand a fighting chance.

Well you're not Jesse, but I'm not about to turn down eyebleach when I asked for it. Thanks! :thumbup1:

Short answer is once all results come out they assign a promotion number to everyone selected. Those who were wearing their current rank longer promote first. Those of us who promote faster wait longer. They then spread out all the promotees over an entire year so that the budget doesn't take a massive pay hit all at the same time. The higher your line number the faster you promoted the longer you wait to actually sew on. Sounds kind of like rewarding the slow to promote doesn't it?

Government efficiency at its best in other words?

Well, again congratulations Rob.

You'll notice my little blue moderator tag is gone. I've decided to take a hiatus of undetermined duration. Nothings wrong, I just don't have the time I need to be dedicated full time/100% to B&B the way I have been in the past.
