Shep, let me know what you think of the Eaton College. I skipped it last time because I didn't know about the scent.
I also only have the AD's for soaps, creams and aftershave. I am going to only have 2 brushes and hopefully soon 3 razors.
I used a sampler of Eton College a few months back. I enjoyed the scent but can't remember it enough to describe it. I'll post an update later in the week. It shaved great. I remember that!

I don't have RAD either. Two DE's one of which I don't use. The Merkur head is just too weird, and I can't master a good shave with it. The SS is my baby. Also don't have BAD. The Rooney for home use and a C&E for travel. I had a Kingsley that I PIF'd to my son. The other AD's unfortunately have a firm grasp over me and my monkey. We can't get enough soaps, creams or AS's. My cabinet is overflowing with those. <shrug> Whadareyagonnado?
For some reason, I can't stand the SS, Shep. The HD is my DE of choice. The other DE I was talking about is a gold plated SS. I'm quite happy with my HD and Feather blades.
I've picked up some straights and am working on restoring a few of them, but I only have two shavers right now and one more that I plan on making into a shaver for myself.
I'm immune to BAD (two brushes and no desire for any more), but am vulnerable to picking up a soap/aftershave/cream/etc. on occasion.

My absolute favorite splashes are Tabac and Provence Sante. They both do excellent jobs at moisturizing, soothing razor burn, etc.

Oooo, I love answering this question. I will even break them down by staying power for you:
Long Lasting--All day and into the night:
Pinaud Clubman, Musk, Bay Rum
Masters Topaz, Lord & Master, Bay Rum
Lustray Coachman
English Leather
Medium Lasting--4 to 6 hours:
Pinaud Vanilla, Citrus Musk
Speik
Stephan Lime, Lilac
Old Spice
Short Lived--couple hours:
SCS Med Citrus
Aubrey North Woods
AV, AV Musk, AV Sport
I have a few.

I agree with the Bay Rum for staying power but the Masters Topaz only lasts about 1 hour on me.
Which of those tones your skin the best or relieves redness. I get bad redness, always have, on my neck area. I find Osage Rub,Bay Rum,Proraso and Stephans Island lime cure it pretty well but I am always looking for something better.

An aftershave is a liquid splash for our face after shaving. A good one provides toning, soothing and moisturizing properties such as alcohol, glycerin, aloe and so on. Most of them provide a cooling effect as well to help out after a less than stellar shave. Some provide a warming effect such as Bay Rum. Most are infused with nice scent oils to drive our women crazy!

Without a doubt if I had a tough shave, I reach for the tried and true face medicine: AV Ice Blue. It cools everything down, relieves redness and bumps and has lots of glycerin for moisturizing. I don't even think about anything else. I suppose a distant second would be SCS Med Citrus.

Well, he could still use these if he wanted. They're not strictly for wetshavers. We tend to need them more as most of us make several passes over our faces making things a bit raw. However I splash on an AS everyday whether I shaved or not just to smell nice. I'm not a big cologne guy as I think they are too perfumey whereas most AS's are a bit more subdued and light--more natural.
I could talk AS's all day. Ask Dom.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the soothing and healing properties of a nice Witch Hazel as well. At first I used Dickinsons, the basic corner drugstore brand that has alcohol. It worked, but it didn't smell so great. Now I use Thayers Rose Petal which has no alcohol. It really helps heal things up after a rough shave too. I use it after every shave and before the AS splash. It smells awesome and works wonders on my skin.

You should just replace his Mach3 with a cutlass (a.k.a. machete). Get him to shave with that. He'll definitely learn that proper prep is key...

Lord yes! I had no idea you didn't have this in your shave den. Say three hail Marys, and genuflect five times to the west. You must have a bottle of AV Ice Blue. Even if it's not your favorite scent (which it isn't for me either), nothing heals like this stuff. The Musk is so-so. I have it just to have it and use it once a month or so just for fun. The Ice Sport is nice because it comes in a plastic bottle perfect for the travel kit. My travel kit goes with me to the gym every day and I use Ice Sport as my after the gym splash. I don't even know how if performs after a shave as I've never tried it. I just really like it's scent. It is mildly perfumey but in a good way. Reminds me of Polo Sport which I used to wear back in the day.
At a minimum pick of the standard blue. You should get the Ice Sport too just for fun. Musk is up to you. See what you think of the scent in the store before purchasing.

I used to watch those Telenovellas with one of my roommates in my college days. We could never sit through more than 15 minutes at a time and didn't know Spanish, but we did get a kick out of the situations, the way everyone was dressed, and the overall craziness.

Cute dog. I don't have a dog myself, but the girlfriend has two Shiba Inus. They're both quite special. One is the dumbest dog you've ever met, but a really sweet dog and the other is the craziest most neurotic dog ever. She isn't wild or rampant, but she's an attention whore, the biggest food fiend, etc., etc. For all their eccentricities, they're two good dogs, though.
I think if I were to ever get a dog myself, it would be a Scottish Terrier. Or maybe a Schnauzer. Something smaller, but it would have to not be yippy.

Nope. Balms are thick creams in a tube. The splash I'm talking about is a blue liquid. Walk into any drugstores shaving section and you'll see it. It's sold everywhere. I still can't believe you don't know about this stuff.

I do a couple of things. One of which I cannot say (It's not a government secret and I promise it's legal). The other, which I can say is that I help out a local board game store every couple weeks by assisting with running board game sessions. Yes. I just admitted to liking board games. The meeting tomorrow is for this place. I'm rarely ever there and I don't see the point of me being at the meeting, but I was requested to be there and was told that I would be paid for my time and fed, so I figure I'll show.

Yeah, I'm good. Long weekend. Very interesting weekend. Lots happened.
Friday night I went to a wine/cheese party which was pretty lame. After that to a house party and met a girl. Got a number. I'll probably never talk to her again.
Last night headed to SF for dinner and drinks with friends. That was fun then off to another house party. Also met a girl I'll likely never talk to again. I'm good like that.
Tonight I went to my aunt and uncle's to watch the Sharks game with my cousin. Had some bomb home cooked food. Hung out for a while. Just got home a bit ago and am going to actually try to be in bed early tonight. For once.

Didn't Dom say he was going to bed like 4 hours ago?
I have Thanksgiving off, and we will be cooking the traditional meal--posted in a thread a few weeks back.
Does anybody else like home made party mix? You know several flavors of Chex cereal, Kix cereal, pretzels, peanuts all toasted and baked with Worcestershire, butter and garlic. I used to love that stuff. I just emailed my mom tonight for her recipe. I have a hankerin' for some.
Pos vibes to your son Jim.
EDIT: I just got to see Jens' dog. Looks like a snowball with eyes.
Ah, the smell of the Holidays. Nothing better than going to mom and dad's
and smelling the smell of party mix cooking. And mom yelling at dad "Stop picking out the cashews!!!" This means Christmas and Christmas Cookies are near.

My son's surgery went well, he had been complaining of his teeth hurting, then it stopped. We finally got dental insurance, he had an abscessed tooth, so he had to have it pulled, not really a big deal in and of itself, but anytime you have to be put under there's always a bit of apprehension...I have two friends who one of their parents were put under for a "minor" operation, never awoke...(no, not the same hospital, where the cleaning lady kept unplugging the life support system), you just never know.
Thanks, ya'll

whaddaya mean "younger"? :lol::lol::lol:
It used to be 9-12 months, unless the studio stood to make a huge profit for the holidays, then it would come out a bit sooner.
I'm fully expecting in the not so distant future for at-home release to occur as soon as the film stops it's cinema showing.
There have been hints at simultaneous release, but I just think they'd lose too much money for it to be a viable option, although I'm game for it, I've never really cared much for the theater experience, though there have been a few enjoyable ones.....:001_rolle

Also watched Kung Fu Panda w/ the little one and we are awaiting Wall E right now. btw the Band of Brothers series is quite possibly the best WW2 series available. I loved it. How are those biscuit sandwiches? I've been meaning to try one (to be honest, I do love biscuits and sweet tea and whatnot. One of the only things I miss from the south is the food). I'm still searching for a place that does excellent sweet tea and sausage gravy and biscuits in Boston. I usually eat pretty healthily, but I will admit to enjoying some of this on the rare occasion (perhaps no more than five times a year).

I've never cared for the theater experience either. I remember having to wait that year for the at-home release. By the time that happened, I usually lost all interest in the movie or simply forgot about it.
I'm not too in touch with the movie world these days, and was even more out of touch a few years back. When I got back in touch, I was shocked to see movies coming out on DVD a couple months after the theater release.

To my knowledge, we haven't had a regular female visitor to TAT. Sorry if I'm wrong about that. I mean no offense. Badger and Blade is a male-dominated forum, so I tend to assume someone is a male unless I am told they aren't. To be honest, Jen (let me know if you use two 'n's), when you first started posting in TAT, I thought you were a male.

haha no offense taken, how could you know? Honestly I was a little afraid to join this forum because I figured I would be among a very tiny minority and that everybody would think I'm weird  I only use one n because my real name is Jennifer, usually if a girl uses 2 n's their name is really Jenn. I don't mind being the only girl around. That is how things have typically been for me. In highschool and even now my core group of friends (mostly the same group) is all guys. I have one girl friend who I am close with and I only met her because she is dating one of my guy friends. Most girls don't understand me. I am among a very small majority who is usually loved by nerdy boys and confusing to the rest of the world. A few of my friends keep asking if I can make clones for them to date because they can't find any girls who want to play halo with them.

Discounting female vendors which there are a few, B&B has female members but none are active currently to my knowledge. Females usually last a few weeks until they get whatever info they need about leg shaving or something to do w/ boyfriends/husbands. Then they move on. Ha. We even had a transexual here once. I was wondering how that would play out, but everyone was very respectful. I was proud of B&B for that. Anyway I think the non shaving conversations we have don't interest most women. Plus they don't always get our sense of humor. I pissed one off a few months ago with a sarcastic remark that was taken wrong. Prob. my bad but she overreacted IMO. Haven't seen her since.

haha that is actually pretty impressive that people weren't noticing considering I said my name was Jen, shows how much people read. A few threads I put up with questions in them in this forum got completely random unrelated answers about the title subject  . Tracy is a cool guy's name but I can see where some people would get confused over the internet. My other problem is my voice always seems to sound like a little boy voice over the xbox live mic, so when I'm in a halo match and there are stupid kids screaming about how they are going to pwn everybody I tend to say if you're under 12 you should NOT be playing halo. How about one of those Pumpkin cookies? I've got two left.

a lot of fruit bars or trail mixy bars with nuts in them are very sweet. I always have those as a snack. They are much better for you then eating chocolate as a sweet fix, actually give you energy and are usually a lot bigger.

I just had the most awesome idea ever

you should make one just for fun one day, if you need help with a design I have a few light saber profiles drawn up including the one for this one (which would obviously need some alterations to work as a handle but I like it.. although I'm probably a bit biased)

that lightsaber is solid metal and I have a solid acrylic 4 foot handle for it, I'm a bad person to mess with when I'm at a con with it. All the stupid 15 year old boys with their force FX lightsabers what to fight me, then they cry when their blade suddenly doesn't light up anymore because they were smashing it into mine.

that is true, it is definitely one of the most annoying costumes I've ever had to put on and take off. Putting the whole thing on is a pain because it needs a bunch of safety pins and the belt gets pretty heavy once everything is on it.

come now, my little gatto-wan apprentice, you're not supposed to reveal your attire frustrations with non-Jedi...besides, you don't want to be fighting Darth Doc4 and have a "wardrobe malfunction", do you?

Your pancakes are lacking syrup and your puny bird would look quite good in my dutch oven. (Actually, it occurs to me that you've just provided most of the ingredients for a nice Thanksgiving bird, complete with stuffing. How absolutely kind of you, sir.)
