Every time I go to Mexico City, I go to Starbucks and they always ask for my name to write on the cup. Each time I say "Randy" they look at each other and grin. There must be something in Spanish slang that I don't know about. I actually told them my name was Robert one time, and got no reaction.

We have some new mods
The Stewards are fewer in number
Gruder got "mod"-ified by Pleidians... he doesn't mind the new "rack" but thought the spoiler on his backside was a bit much.
Blake got hit on my a couplea young emo "guys."
GFLanigan is back
Otherwise, no nothing is new.

Seem that the over worked bug is going around. It will come to an end eventually, Doug. Hang in there and be sure to do something just for yourself even if it's 10 minutes of me time. Even better if you can force yourself to take an hour or so off.

So, tomorrow night will be my first night with my actual crew. I figure I will wait until then to lay out what I expect from them and what they should expect from me. I like to make sure everyone knows the ground rules. I should be excited but it has been a long week. I am exhausted. Only two more nights and I get one off.

Crap! I just got some bad new. For those who don't remember Minxy, she is my Sister-in-Law, Skklog's wife. Mom just called and told me she was in an accident and rolled the vehicle. The ambulance is taking her to the local hospital. Medics informed Klog she is fine but hit her head. I know she must be okay because of where they are taking her. If it was serious, she would have been taken up to my hospital. She is at one of our satellite community hospitals. So, I am sure Sis is fine but it sucks nonetheless. :thumbdown

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Thanks for the laugh.

Okay, for those that haven't already read the FB post, here is the update.

Minxy is home! She has a fractured C7 and right Orbital. They bandaged her up which is good. I don't think she would like to see herself right now. It'll be fine once the swelling goes down. She will be as beautiful as ever. The Neuro Doc saw her and determined there is no damage there. The plastic surgeon never was able to see her but reviewed the X-rays. She still has to meet with him but there is a chance she won't need surgery.

When I got there, I entered through staff doors. So, I didn't see my family. I walked up to the Trauma desk and all the girls were asking what I was doing there. All of a sudden, the one goes, "That's not your sister is it?!" So, they directed me to her room. My favourite ER doc was there. He acknowledged me and continued his exam. Then, he noticed I was still there. He asked if I needed something and I said no, that's my sister. So, he brought me into the room. He was about to leave and I told her, "You've got my favourite doctor here so you're in good hands." He looks over his shoulder and asks, "Who else is in here?" "Shh, I was lying to her." He is cool. He will joke around with us with the really crazy patients and actually acts human. Plus, he is good. He doesn't fall for BS and doesn't go overboard. Those that have worked in that environment know exactly what I'm talking about.

All of Security was very concerned and offering any help they can. My Captain even offered to work for me tonight. As of this moment, I still have not slept today. I texted my team too. Several were trying to get me to take the night off, but I can't. That isn't me, typically. Especially on my first night as Lt. That combined with missing the other day makes it out of the question, in my mind.

I told sis, thinking she would be admitted, since I had to stay up, I was going to bug her all night. If I was up, by God she would be. I also threatened to order food for her and eat it. You know, be the typical evil BIL. It's a little disappointing she went home.

Hi all.

I wonder why someone who is reportedly 'great' at motivational speaking can get so down in the dumps... work and real life has had me swamped so much lately, I've barely come up for air. Anything new happening 'round these parts?

Doug! You're alive! :w00t:

Lessee....

Yeah, that pretty much summarizes things.

Ray, try leading with a joke:

Comicus (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000316/): Have you heard of this new sect, the Christians? They are a laugh riot! First of all, they are so poor...
Swiftus (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0137030/): How poor are they?
Comicus (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000316/): Thank you! They are so poor... that they only have *one* God!
[drumbeat, everyone laughs]
Comicus (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000316/): But we Romans are rich. We've got a lot of gods. We've got a god for everything. The only thing we don't have a god for is [a certain medical condition].. but I hear that's coming quickly.

Great movie! :thumbup1:

:yikes: OMG. A real classic.

Yep, though his best are Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. :yesnod:

:thumbdown

Wow. Sorry to that. How is your brother taking the news?

Okay, quick update before I get dressed. Sis is being transferred to Parkview. This is my hospital. She has a broken neck and facial fracture. I think it is the orbital socket. I know the are calling in the Ortho doc and plastic surgeon. I'll let you know if I get something really important.

Oh my! That's horrible! I hope she pulls through alright.

I've been away several days, much to long to do a catch-up "roll", but I have read the posts since I was here last, and ya'll have been very busy. Let me recap:

Blake:
- got promoted
- still wears no pants, like on "Planet 51" :001_huh:
- Posted some gratuitous razor porn, which was enjoyed by many :thumbup1:
- asked several of us to "testify" if he is "Shrek Green" - (Yes, he is indeed bright green, just like Shrek :thumbup1:)

Swampfox:
- Provided instructions for dealing with Zombies - (Thanks Ray :thumbup1:)
- Got 2 pairs of glasses (presumably Ray actually does have "4 eyes") which Intrigued thinks is "kewl" :thumbup1:

RichGem:
- Thanked Phil for "cleaning up the Clown House" by closing the threads that Ray was admittedly "post-doping" (Phil, you missed a few spots...)

GDCarrington:
- Provided a pic of Springs1 boxed up

Gollum83:
- Provided a much-needed English lesson (thanks for learnin' us that! :thumbup1:)
- Is "fixed" now (I thought that was only done on pets?)

Intrigued:
- Posted a dog fighting pic, which has earned her the spot as Michael Vick's replacement in the world of dog fighting :thumbup1:
- Was so inspired by Blake's gratuitous razor porn that she posted some gratuitous porn of her own :thumbup1:

Slaglerock:
- Resorted to posting nursery rhymes to get his post count above 18K (Congrats, Rob! :thumbup1:)
- Posted a pic of him and "Mrs. Slaglerock" (???) in their swimming pool

Sol92258:
- Posted pics of an electric bathtub toy (a sure hit for Christmas :thumbup1:)
- Promoted alcohol as the answer (AA says a big "thanks!" :thumbup1:)

DFrancis:
- Of course, provided bacon (always welcome :thumbup1:)
- Also provided "chicken slaughtered whale farts" (mmm, not so welcome )

GFlanagan3:
- Used "bad" and "badness" in the same sentence with bacon (that's just not right!)

OldSaw:
- Is still truckin', and Mrs. OldSaw is still bloggin' :thumbup1:

Duckster and Gruder:
- Tried valiantly, but futiley, to keep the discussion on Fantasy Football

And the usual assortment of miscellaneous comments and pics about - squirrels, kids shaving, nukes, pantless fetishes, dungeon policies, insanity, "gray" drinking water, drinking toilet water, and ear mites singing and dancing.

I think that about covers the last few days? I missed ya'll! :001_cool:

Okay, my TAT thread catch-up summary post was really just getting ready for this inevitable new rule:

Clown House TAT thread posting limit: Members may only post once in the Clown House "TAT" thread per calendar month. Each post is limited to five humorous items (or groups of humorous items posted as a package). A new post in the Clown House TAT thread (the next month) may not be posted until a member's prior TAT thread post has resulted in someone responding with LOL, ROTFL, JSCOMCM, or some similar acronym, or until the TAT thread is marked "closed".

...just in case....

That would really change things around here. Hmmm...

Ladies and gents, I have some horrible news. My sister, who just got married less than two weeks ago, lost her husband today. He had a massive heart attack this afternoon at work, and died before even reaching the hospital. They just got back Sunday night from their honeymoon, and she is in a lot of pain right now.

Her first husband died from cancer in August 2006. A couple of years ago she met a great man, who loved her and took good care of her, and now he is gone. It's madness to me, like some kind of bizarro world bent on punishing her. So, I beg you - if you believe in prayer, then please think of my sister over the next several days. If you don't believe in prayer, then please at least send positive thoughts her way.

The last time I saw him was the day after the wedding. They were dropping my sister's cat off at my mom's before leaving for the honeymoon. I remember him telling me, "I'm 52 years old [he was a good bit older than my sister], and for the first time in my life I'm happy. I have finally found happiness."

Thank you.

So sorry to hear such terrible news Ray. Prayers already sent for your sister.

Trying to understand what was going on was sort of like me trying to understand what was happening in the TV show "Lost". But it sounds like you were trying to protect the innocent...or the not so innocent.

Too bad you get "burned" sometimes when you help out others. But it's good you still consider it a not completely bad day. But you may just be remembering the part where you were in a daze, wondering why you were napping on the floor and Mrs. Blackfoot was standing over you with a frying pan in her hand? :001_cool:

Maybe. I wouldn't give up them. There are dry meads out there, but they seem to be few and far in between from my limited experience, commercially speaking. Of course, there's always the option of brewing your own. Just make sure you let it age. Young mead can be quite harsh from personal experience. :lol1:

When I was in elementary school living in Tulsa, we had both fire drills and tornado drills. When the fire alarm went off, we had to line up quietly and walk single file out of the school out onto the playground. When the tornado alarm sounded, we had to line up in the hall by the lockers, get down on our knees, put our head down with our writing arm under our head to protect it, and put our other hand on top of the back of our head to protect our head. I always thought it was kind of funny for some reason that if the roof of the school collapsed on our heads in a tornado, at least our writing hands would be safe!

As you may have noticed, this is the first time since the memorial service that I have been on B&B. Yesterday day wasn't that great for me. I spent so much time preparing for the service and helping the family, that I was not able to grieve on my own. I started going in to that phase Sunday. Today was better for me, but my sister's difficult time has only begun.

The memorial service went well as it could have gone. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. The family really appreciated what I was able to do, and many of his friends and coworkers also appreciated. I'm not sure my sister heard any of it...despair does not even begin to describe her condition.

I knew that I would only be able to do this if I wrote my remarks as a speech. I knew I would never be able to go typical sermon style. I open with thanking my brother-in-law's employer (they have been unbelievably good to them..I have never heard of any company taking care of their people like this before), and then reading I Corinthians 13. Prayer was followed by two songs my sister wanted played (she waited to late to find someone to sing). I then read Ecclesiastes 3:1-13, delivered my address, and closed by reading from Psalms. I had planned to read Psalm 103:8-17.

For some weird reason, in error, I started reading Psalm 104:8-20...I thought I was reading 103. I realized my mistake at verse 10, but decided to continue reading, stop at a good point of completion and then read 103. Thankfully, no one noticed my error, and it only appeared that I had selected a longer portion of Scripture!

Now, the really interesting thing is this: My brother-law worked for ******** Wine & Spirits, a large southeastern alcohol distributor. Psalm 104:15 reads, "And wine that maketh glad the heart of man....." Maybe a big weird coincidence, just one of those odd things that happens at times like this.

That's awesome, Ray. I spoke at both my mom and my dad's service, and I don't think you can realize how hard it will be standing up and speaking like that before you do it. In addition to the emotional turmoil and stress, there's so much pressure that you feel because you want to do a good job at such an important time.

Thanks for sharing. It's great to see how what you considered mistakes were actually used for a good purpose.

My grandfather wanted me to speak at his funeral. Fortunately, things panned out that it would not be possible, I don't think I could have.

That said, my wife sang for her mother's funeral. She recorded it a the morning of the service, she wanted to actually sing during the service, but couldn't. Still, I do not know how she sang that morning to record it. It was unbelievable.

And Ray, what you've done is something you, your sister and your family and her husband's family will remember forever. Your sister is probably not able to fully express how much she appreciates what you've done for her at this time. She won't remember everything you said, but she will remember what you did. That makes it worth it. :thumbup1:

Now, the really interesting thing is this: My brother-law worked for ******** Wine & Spirits, a large southeastern alcohol distributor. Psalm 104:15 reads, "And wine that maketh glad the heart of man....." Maybe a big weird coincidence, just one of those odd things that happens at times like this.

You're a good man and an excellent brother Ray, you're sister will never forget what you did for her.

My grandfather wanted me to speak at his funeral. Fortunately, things panned out that it would not be possible, I don't think I could have.

His brother and sisters originally wanted to speak. About 10 minutes before the start they told me they could not do it. I had to make some last minutes changes, but I was not really surprised. The only way I was able to do what I did was to kind of separate myself in my mind. That's why I really didn't start grieving myself until Sunday.

Thanks Intrigued, very nice. And Ray, what you've done is something you, your sister and your family and her husband's family will remember forever. Your sister is probably not able to fully express how much she appreciates what you've done for her at this time. She won't remember everything you said, but she will remember what you did. That makes it worth it. :thumbup1:

Ray, I will keep you, your sister, your aunt, and all who you hold dear in my thoughts and prayers.

You're a good man and an excellent brother Ray, you're sister will never forget what you did for her.

Once again, I thank all of you. You just don;t understand how a kind word, comment and thoughtfulness, rightly said, makes such a big difference.

Today was a very rough day. It was my last as the big dog at the firing range. My promotion means I have too much rank for my current position. Starting Monday I'll be back to doing a job Blake would love...

Law Enforcement!

I'll be a Flight Sergeant (Top Cop) for my shift.

It's bitter sweet. I've spent 11 years teaching and working on guns. I haven't written a ticket or responded to a 911 call since 2000.

Wish me luck!

Really? Bad week at work then?

No,not exactly. It's complicated. Not all of it was really bad either.

Congratulations on your promotion, Rob! I know you've enjoyed running the gun range, but it's exciting that you'll be facing a new challenge. I'm sure you'll do great in this new role, too. Even though you've worked law enforcement before, sounds like you haven't done it at this rank, which means a new perspective. :thumbup1:

Definitely a different perspective. Last time I was working full time as a cop I was one of the lowest ranking, now I will be the highest. I missed the whole middle tier of things from that perspective. Fortunately I have a good cast of Jr. NCO's who will help get me back up to speed and keep their Airman in line.
