Well, it was a beautiful afternoon here. Mid 70's and this should be the last day of it. So, I took the bike out.

I was only three miles or so out of town when I nearly got severely injured. I was in the left lane and approaching a road I was going to turn left onto. I turned on the turn signal, noticed a SUV that was a ways behind me and began braking. Since the vehicle behind had plenty of distance, I was paying attention to oncoming traffic. Suddenly, I hear tires squalling behind me and that SUV barreling down on me. The right lane was full so Neither of us could veer that direction. I was preparing to ditch it into the median. I would have laid down anyhow, but hopefully I could keep her up long enough to slow down some more. I figure I still would be pretty messed up but it would be better that a SUV up my arse. However, That was where the SUV went so, I re-centered in my lane and gunned it. The Jeep, or whatever it was, missed my rear tire by less than a foot. I think it was about 8", give or take.

I watched the thing blow by me, drop into the median an launch back out into oncoming traffic. He managed to keep from going completely into the other lane both lanes oncoming went into a frenzy trying to avoid the jeep. Miraculously, everyone missed everyone, including me!

When the horns quit blaring and tires stopped squalling, there was that Jeep and I sitting looking at each other on opposite sides of the median. I wanted to tell the driver I was impressed. They didn't do anything too skillful, but most drivers are not even that capable. However, the look on his face made it clear he was mad at me over the whole thing. Because it was obviously my fault he was playing with his cell phone or radio or whatever instead of paying attention to the vehicle in front of him. That is normal though. Any time someone nearly hits a motorcycle because they weren't paying attention, they seem to always act like it was the bike's fault. So, I rode off and let him figure out how to get back onto this side of the road. As much as I wanted to, I figured a fight was likely to ensue if I approached the vehicle to assist.

Oddly enough, I was pretty shaken by the incident. My hands were shaking for quite a while and I could feel my chest thumping for for even longer. I don't know why. But, I rode on and had a very nice hour and a half afternoon ride. :thumbup1:

In other news, I got called from work this afternoon. Apparently, the Captain had a family emergency and won't be in tonight. We don't know about tomorrow night. This news saddens me for his sake. However, I am also excited because that means I'm in charge tonight. This is what I do best and I love doing it. Odds are, the night will be horrible and I will regret it, but such is life.

This weekend is going to be fun. Some of you know I play guitar in our church praise band, and this weekend our youth are having a weekend retreat, and they've asked us to come and play for them. So we are playing tonight, tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. We play very comtemporary music anyway, but since we're playing for just young people, we get to have even more fun with it. We've done this before, and it's a blast. So ya'll have fun here, and I'll check in later. :001_cool:

Wow! Glad you survived and resisted the urge to take the other guy on a canoe trip.

Had my own incident today in Jersey City. I was at a warehouse trying to get set up to back into a dock when another driver started blasting his horn at me and shouting that I was about to block the space he was going to back into. I stopped and he blew right across my front bumper. I jumped out of my truck to see what his major malfunction was. Then I decided it wasn't worth it, as the place was an absolute zoo and it was inevitable that tempers would start flying. I was already waiting and getting lined up, this guy just came in the gate from the street and acted like he owned the place.

We had to wait inside the warehouse for our trucks to get loaded and then get our paperwork. While standing there the other driver came by and offered me a big apology and shook my hand. I was glad it turned out that way, especially since nearly everyone is bigger than me and I don't like fighting anyway. I almost invited him on a canoe trip, but figured it wouldn't be very forgiving if I was going to be calculating.

A moon pie is a pastry which consists of two round graham cracker cookies, with marshmallow filling in the center, dipped in chocolate or other flavors. The traditional pie is about 3 inches (76 mm) in diameter.

Moon pies! Those things are awesome but a pain in the arse to find around here.

Or lesson her, for that matter.

Difference between Southern English and Proper English:
Learn vs Learn

Proper English uses the word learn to convey information in a manner of instruction to edify. Example: Today you will learn how to build a wooden box.

Southern English uses the word learn to convey information in a manner of punishment. Example: I will learn you not to sass or you will be in a wooden box!

The dark side's callin' now
Nothin' is real
She'll never know just how I feel
From out of the shadows
She walks like a dream
Makes me feel crazy
Makes me feel so mean

Ain't nothin' gonna save you
From a love that's blind
You slip to the dark side
Across that line
On the dark side, oh yeah
On the dark side, oh yeah

The dark side's callin' now
Nothin' is real
She'll never know just how I feel
From out of the shadows
She walks like a dream
Makes me feel crazy
Makes me feel so mean

Ain't nothin' gonna save you
From a love that's blind
You slip to the dark side
Across that line
On the dark side, oh yeah
On the dark side, oh yeah

Good night from Marion, IN.

Blake, sorry I didn't call, but had to meet up with Mrs. Trucker's (http://mrstrucker.blogspot.com/) old friend this time.

:w00t: No worries! IIRC, there is a place with all you can eat crab legs on Sunday nights down there. I really dislike Marion, as much as Gary but with more personal ties. Thus, I never go there if I don't have to. :001_rolle

I am afraid to mess up the gold, but I will try to polish it. Haven't used her yet though.
