I just seen the post about your uncle, it can be hard to keep up in this thread. :blushing:

I'm sorry to hear about that, cancer is a horrible horrible thing, the black plague of our time.

Thanks. Cancer has taken both maternal grandparents, my wife's mother, my sister's husband, and too many others I have personally known.

That is what is so bad about it.

It has become so rampant, everybody knows several people that have died from it or had it.

My best friends mom when we were in high school, my other best friend (he was 22 when he passed), my wifes grandmother is battling it now and losing. My 18 year old cousin just had a full historectomy (sp?) friday because she had cancer the size of a 6 month fetus in there. They are pretty sure they got it all, but she will never be able to have kids obviously.

I can't even put into words how I feel about it. There are not words evil enough, vile enough to accurately describe it.

I just received bad news...well for my uncle I guess it's good. His fight is over. He passed away just after midnight. He was only 52 years old. It will probably be next weekend before the funeral takes place. The body has to be embalmed and flown out from Oklahoma.

my heart is heavy this morning. Not for my uncle, but for my aunt.

I'm very sorry. Your family is in my prayers.

Thank you. My aunt has decided to drive by herself all the way back from OK City. My uncle's brother and youngest sister both tried to talk her into letting them ride back with her, and she refused. My mom and my sister tried talking her out of her plan, but were not able to get anything across. I know she doesn't feel like talking right now, and I know she just wants to be alone, but that is a terribly long trip to make by yourself.

Since you failed to notice, I was strangely absent. Gave everyone else a chance to post some. My family all got together and we to the Embassy to see the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra last night. Thus, I didn't get much sleep. The concert was cool. For the first part, the had a giant screen and displayed pictures from the Hubble Telescope while playing. It was great!

I had to go straight to work afterwards. My goodness did I cause a ruckus walking through the ER in my tuxedo. The girls were really making a big deal about it. A couple even whistled. It was hilarious because pretty much all staff stopped what they were doing. Thank God no one was coding at the time. They have seen me in suits before because I change there sometimes before or after church. They always make a bit of a deal about that. But man alive! It was a little lot embarrassing. Flattering, I must admit. Of course, the James Bond jokes abounded amongst the male staff.

I t was a good night at work too. The closest thing to interesting thing that happened was the lady screaming about reptiles and asking to make the voices stop. But, that was only mildly amusing, nothing all that unusual. For a Saturday night, I expected at least one shooting. Especially since I think a retaliation hit is due. But, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

That reminds me. The Captain and I were looking through the badging system looking for an employee. We found her. The next one was disturbing though. It was a clown. There is a group of volunteers that come in occasionally a clowns and entertain the patients in Peds.

Well, it just so happened that one officer I owed a payback to for another prank hates clowns. More of a fear really. Of course, he was stupid enough to tell us this.

So, when he returned, we asked him to look up the employee. We gave the wrong first name, which happened to be the clown's name. He found the correct one and pointed it out to us. Then, he said, "Here is someone by the name you thought." As I hoped, he clicked on it. He jumped backwards yelling, "Oh sh**!" The Captain and I about fell out of our chairs laughing at him. We were in tears! That went so much better than I had anticipated.

Since his failed delivery of a sign. :w00t:

And, clearly, it's not a picture of Ray... note the hand position... NOT scratching at his ears. QED.

Besides, that person clearly has hair.

Your family has had a lot to deal with lately. This certainly doesn't help. We'll pray for a safe trip.

Ooooo so you're the Princess!
Also don't worry about the coffee I'm more of a tea gal anyway.
Though the pecan danishes are my favourites so I'll now hold a grudge against you forever :lol:It's impossible to hold a grudge against the Princess.

Mr. Crafty wore a tux at his sister's wedding. Wow. :001_tt1:

I know you and your family are just trying to look after her but sometimes all the concern and condolences can become overwhelming. This may be just what she needs right now.

I imagine it's very hard when it feels like you should be with the person but they want none of it. When my grandfather passed, my uncles were at the house going through all of my grandfather's papers and documents without my grandmother's knowledge or permission. When she found out, she was pretty dang mad. Although they were most likely trying to help her and take some of the load of her responsibilities, she just felt like it was an invasion of her space and privacy. She had, after all, been running her household for years and years. But, as usual, I ramble.

I'd say as long as you know her to be mentally sound, let her have her space.

Warning: serious post

What is going on around here lately? I am obviously one of the biggest clowns around here. But, I am seeing so many threads that are nothing more than branches of this one. For example, all of the "quit" threads. I am surprised they haven't all been merged yet. Seems they have ran their course. Springs1, Stan the Man, Tomorrow, these are pieces of B&B lore. However, they are barely on track anymore. The thread of ever changing titles is hilarious. But, I have to say, I am getting a little tired of some of it. Seems like we have spilled out of here. I see the Mod team agrees.

I know I am the pot calling the kettle black here. But, I want to share my intent. For the good of all of us, I am going to try and hold back the nonsense to this thread. Yesterday, I took a quote from another thread I want to make a comment about and post it here for that very reason. Am I going to cut back on the clowning? Heck no! But, this is starting to cast an unfavorable shadow on the Clown House, TAT, and the Cheddarites. This, I do not want.

I made a similar post not too long ago about trying to spend a little time in the Newbie forum. Unfortunately, this nonsense cornucopia is way too time consuming and I am spending lees time than ever on the rest of the boards because I am trying to keep up around here.

Now I admit, we have a few new ones joining us recently because of our more public display of our arses and I am thrilled with this. The more the merrier. But, we are a corner of B&B and should remain so.

Again, I will not be able to live up to my own expectations. However, I hope maybe some of you will join me. I really would hate to see us lose the freedom and privileges we have here in TAT.

Then again, I am probably way out of line. I have been a little introspective today as those following me on Facebook may have noted. :001_rolle

Alright, the grumpy old man is shutting up. Let the frivolities continue! :a50:

(2) I have really enjoyed your wit, banner, and charm. At no time have I felt that TAT has been invaded by you or any other visitors. I hope I speak for the rest of TAT. To me part of the charm of TAT is that everyone is welcomed.

As for myself, the reason I contributed money to B&B and will continue to do so was because I love this place and I knew that partly because I'm a woman (and mostly because I'm pretty useless), I would not be able to contribute in a lot of other ways.
I believe the clown house has become a very important part of B&B, TAT in particular. As we've all seen, life can get pretty grim sometimes. The laughter and friendship here goes a long way to lighten the load.

with the long "rolls" and such. Or maybe just one obnoxious new neighbor? :blushing:
:blushing: maybe I should duck back behind the curtain so?

I do have to admit a reluctance of sorts to come in here previous to being invited. Any other times I peeked in there were so many in jokes and random non-jokes I got confused as to what I could possibly say. It was only when I got wrapped up in some of those that I thought I could join in the fun but even I find it very tiring trying to keep up esp with the time difference. Each time I log on the "regular" threads all have a couple of new pages.

So I'll say here and now that for the sake of my college work and sanity that I'm:biggrin1: going to be a casual visitor. I may not get all the jokes that way and I may be a bit left out but that's fine. You have full reign to make fun of my ignorance :biggrin1:

I wans't expecting that.

What about Irish Breakfast?

As for seriousness... yeah, I too could do more and so while I haven't spent a lot of post time outside the clown house, I do peek out once in a while. And, those of you in the wiki...yep, that's me spreading around commas, fixing some sentence structure, and changing Indiana Blake's British spellings and usages to good ol' American. (Don't hate me because I'm beautiful AND can punctuate, OK?)

I really have no idea what either of you are talking about.

Congratulations Rob!

Welcome!

Yeah, you're going to fit right in!

Thanks brother!

Since when does Ray live in Indiana and work at a hospital? :001_tt2:

Zing!

Since his failed delivery of a sign. :w00t:

Well played!

Oh! My bad! Congrats Rob.

I hope they work because they look ridiculous.

The Blake: What a heartbreaker.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

And that's why he's Czar. :thumbup1:

Thank you kind Sir.

Oh I LOVE this game!
And yes, that style of ear protection is simply a must. Lol an ear condo for the mites. It'll lure them into a false sense of security and comfort before he finds a way to get rid of them!

Thanks :blushing: though shhh remember? icks-nay on the logs-bay incase-ay a od-may ets-gay upset-ay.

As for the pancake bunny thread, I *think* we can all agree that that one was begging to go downhill. In fact, I would go so far as to say that was the intent after the verbal spanking.

But yes, quite a few seem to have gone the way of TAT.

You're hilarious, but not mean spirited, and you're witty, but not cutting, and you're always there for each other, and for B&B. You're such a great group, sharing daily perspectives, joking when you can, and encouraging and lifting up when you need to for each other. I love the mix! :thumbup1:

I've never been to a performance, but I think the show still plays at a theatre every Friday or Saturday night at midnight here in Houston. I decided to beat ol' slagley at his own game. See the thread. By "not caring" about the picture (even though I do feel very :blushing:) it should stop the thread sooner rather than later.
And I went to a shadow cast performance, here actors act out beside a projection of the show. And yes the audience shouts things out and throws things etc.

First the bad news...one of the 2nd shift supervisors on the dock lost his daughter today. She was only 24. She had cystic fibrosis, and the docs had told her parents she would never live to be 7. The father says he is relieved in a way, since it is all over now, and she is no longer suffering. The mom will have a harder time to adjust. For the last 24 years, her whole has been wrapped up in taking care of her daughter.

A somber thought which again made me realize something. My wife and I will probably never have kids, and I do not understand how parents, especially those who fought to have a child, can deal with losing one.

and in-ones at that? man, that's wild....

this ain't a country club, it's more like Wal-Mart, jump in and say something, we all just pretend to know what's going on anyway - except for the ones that actually do know what's going on, and they're just pretending, too, and we pretend to believe that they aren't pretending to know what's going on, and thus they try to pretend to pretend they're pretending to not know what's going on, even when they know that we're pretending to pretend that they're ...... what the crap was I saying?

Exactly!

Oh, and I think the proper reward for top 5 is Johnny Black and a good cigar. Or maybe just some penguin flare. I don't know. They won't show me the rule book until after the fact.

Hate to break it to you, but everyone quits noticing at that point. That is, unless you point it out Rob & Rich to everyone.

Why the quotation marks around 'far'? Yes actually... I guess now you've linked to it in here it's probably only a matter of time before my picture is dragged into the clown house too with a barrage of comments...

I am confused by the whole thing. Is it an event that I posted a picture now? Rob mentions it as if it's something he's been waiting for! Man if I had known that I was in such high demand I would have posted a better picture!

They can file charges for that I think.

I have friends that were in a similar situation. He was 17, I think, when he died. That was the mother's entire life. You guys may remember me speaking of the family because earlier this year, another son was killed in a car accident. That family has truly been through hell and back.

And I wonder the same thing Ray. :thumbdown

I have no idea why... But then I have no idea why it was started either but no body is telling me and the whole story makes me feel a bit wierd because I don't know what was going on.

But anyway...
Back to ol' Twitchy's ear mites...
I heard a rumour they're thinking of going back to France. They are camping outside of the French embassy in swamp's kilt at the moment looking for support due to inhumane (inmitemane?) treatment whilst in the ear.

So other than White Owls :001_rolle what is your favorite?

Oh, and is Gentleman Jack okay instead of Johnny Black?

I have been wanting to try some cigars, but that has been placed back for now. Maybe after the first of the year.

I have decided that I do not like Jack at all. I haven't tried any Scotch yet.

Okay, how did you shatter two dishes?

The first because I was making bread. I had to go pick up one of the kids at school and had planned the bread to be rising when I did so. Part way through the mixing and kneading I realized I timed everything really, really wrong and was trying to hurry. In my haste I knocked a Corelle bowl of flour off the table. The second because I was hungry last night and had some toast and tea. I was sitting in an arm chair with the saucer resting next to me and knocked it off.

Times like this, one wishes that the Clown House had a steward.

:yesnod: Yes they are, as is the one that was in the "Lets see your mug" thread. (it's not there anymore)

:yesnod: Crafty needs some tea and sweets! Stat!
Jamie are you getting them. Now! :mad3:

I'm a steward, and would be happy to help facilitate a discussion on shaving creams. :001_rolle

Or I could freshen those drinks for you? :biggrin1:

Yes, it's been awhile, but as I recall, I did like her pic in the "Lets see your mug" thread. I also like the pics she shared of a friend who modeled in a barber shop. they were also very artistic. :thumbup1:

I do hope Jamie is getting the tea and sweets, and doesn't start whining about zucchini bread again. But just in case, do you have the popcorn ready? :001_rolle
Jamie hasn't been here in a while. He's been busy.

G'Morning Richard.

This may be the most awesome awesomeness I've ever seen! Crafty, is there such a thing as Deluxe Awesomesauce? This may be it.:thumbup::thumbup:

That's what happens when you get up in post count. You wear your emotions on your fin.
I'll get working on a recipe for it.

I've certainly broken dishes and glasses when I got in a rush. But then I've broken them when I was taking my time, too. I go through cycles. I knock things over and spill things next to my arm chair and get banned from bringing food and drink in, then the "rules" get lax and I start bringing them in again, until I spill something again. I can confirm that Corelle, which we thought was "unbreakable", shatters into a thousand little pieces. :blushing:

I can also confirm, definitely, that red wine stains won't come out of cream colored carpet. :blushing: :blushing:

Jamie hasn't been here in a while. He's been busy.

First two lines: :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

as for the last line....what is this 'sleep' you speak of? I think I recall it involving some kind of rest-like state, where you get up after a few hours and have a renewed energy, but it's been so long that such a think has occurred I could be wrong

I, on the other hand, will put an effort into rejoicing in the day the Lord has made, but at the moment am feeling a bit on the snarky side of things. I think I'll go have a cup of tea and sew something. That usually helps.

Good night's sleep here, too -- even after watching the entire game. Got the first bit of work off my to-do list -- off to do a bit of minor roof patching, then clean out the carb on the mower. We get a week-long fall break, therefore I get a week-long "honey do" list.

UPDATE to the TAT league:

My Assyrians beat the Krusaders to keep me at the top of the division, Gruder sank the Tide, and Cats downed the Braves. This puts Gruder now far ahead of his division mates. We are nearly half way through the regular season.

I think this is the end of the bye weeks this week.

Blake, it would seem as that since Randy takes his position as steward seriously enough to get everyone their drinks as needed, the least you could do is bring around a tray of hors d'oeuvres once in a while. :glare:

I understand how those kinds of things can hit you unexpectedly and hard. The advantage to it just being 2 of us, is I can cut some extra expenses for a while, and top out. I have been threatening my wife with the rice and beans diet for a while.
