...Most of our patients come for one of the following reasons:

They have no insurance and we will be eating the bill. As a result, they can't go to a regular doctor because they have no money.
They are hungry.
They are drug seekers.
They just want the attention.
They are bored.
They simply don't want to be alone.
They are homeless.

and most of these are reasons I post here...:blink:

:thumbup1:

I really should be careful. Mrs. Blackfoot gets on me sometimes when I say things like I hate people. That is a little harsh. People disgust me, but I have to remember that is only a small portion of society. Unfortunately, that is the portion I have to deal with. :blushing:
Is that also the portion that end up fatalities before the cops can get there?

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that part. :blushing:

The ER doc wouldn't say much. All he would tell me was that he didn't believe I had a heart attack and that all the tests came back ok. He said to take the rest of the day off (yeah, you think?) He then recommended I go see my regular doctor soon and then sent me home. I went home, slept for three hours, then got up and ate. Watched Troy which wasn't nearly as bad as I figured it would be and went to bed.

Have you had BP troubles before, or is this new for you? I have had todeal with it for the last 10 years. One thing that will help is if I lose some weight, which I have been trying to do this year. I have knocked off some pounds, but not enough. For some reason though, with no apparent cause, BP can get really wacky. It has happened to me a few times, and scared me to death.

And to correct the Crafty story, I believe the ADHD survival story was when he was 3 and needed stitches, bloody but not quite life-threating; that or it was the time he tried to drink the rubbing alcohol.

New experience for the ol' prof yesterday.

So, about nine o'clock yesterday morn I experienced about three hours of the worst chest pain I've ever had. I didn't get panicky 'cause it felt just like heart burn, but it went on and on so long, I finally went to the school nurse to see if she could do anything.

While we eventually got the pressure down in the old esophagus, what she found was my blood pressure was what she called "through the roof" starting out as high as 167 over 112. It would not drop below 100 diastolic for the next 40 minutes, so the office debated over calling an ambulance or just sending someone to take me to the ER. By this time, I was so weak and out of it, I really don't remember how exactly things went, but my wife came and took me to the ER.

This was a weird experience. I was expecting, you know, EMERGENCIES, like gushing bloody wounds, car accidents, etc but for the three hours I was there (and conscious), only elderly who hadn't remembered to take their medications and stroke patience who had trouble urinating and such came in.

Anyone have enough experience to know if this is NORMAL? I'm usually healthy as a horse, so I don't have much hospital time paid in. Just curious, really... I am not looking to start an rant about how our health care system is jacked up or whatever. :001_rolle

-Prof

Normal? Can be. Emergency rooms are odd places, but my stays in them generally seem to tend towards overlong waits. Last time I paid a visit I waited six hours to be seen while I was doubled over in an immense amount of pain. In the end, by the time they did see me, I passed my first freaking kidney stone. :thumbdown

I stayed home today just to make sure I don't over do it and push myself right back into a problem, but the high blood pressure is still a concern. I've got a monitor here at the house so I'll check throughout the day.

Thanks for asking.

Well glad to hear you're doing better. Keep an eye on yourself though. :001_smile

Oh! His silver tongue will be a great addition to the Czardom! :w00t:

Emergency rooms are such surreal places, aren't they? We've had the pleasure/displeasure of going multiple times with our oldest son (6yrs) over the course of his short life. Honest emergencies, one and all. He doesn't do anything half way. Severe illness on a weekend, stitches, waking up in the middle of the night not being able to breathe... He got an ambulance for that last one!

Sounds like me at that age. If you have to have bronchitis, acute is the way to go. Yea, viral asthma.

Well, it still gets warm in the fall, especially as you go south. Another thing that it does is remove moisture so the windows stay fog free on rainy days. I could have throttled the mechanic the other day when he acted like it wasn't a big deal and bragged about not having AC in his car. I told him I don't have AC in my car either but I'm not driving it for 11 hours a day either.

Is that what Kenny Loggins was singing about?

That's one of my favorite CDs.

I just read the posts for October 1 through 6, and they are awesome! I will go back and read the posts from August and September later, and will enjoy posting some comments. I love the pics, the daily silly town names, and getting a little bit of an idea of what life on the road is like. Thanks for sharing! :thumbup1:

I'm too concerned about hurting feelings to joke further, in case you're not joking. I told Blake when we had dinner that I hope that I will never say anything on here that will be taken in a way to be hurtful, as that is the last thing I would ever want. So if you're serious about feeling stung, I'm very sorry!

Thank you too Randy, for checking it out. I'm not sure how long she will be able to keep up the silly names, but it is fun for now.

I can imagine. If I was stuck in a tight space for 10+ hours per day, I think AC would be a welcome relief. Yeah, mechanics who rarely, if ever, drive a tractor, normally don't get this.

Swear of Mispronunciation: noun. A word that a child mispronounces, and ends up coming out as a swear word.

OK, I'm trying to tread extremely careful with what I'm about to say. It's funny, but hard to write (or read) without blushing.

The other night, we had pizza and breadsticks for dinner. I know, I know. Bad mommy. But stay with me.

Viking Toddler comes up to me (and get ready to blush), and said, "I found my d*ck."

"What?" I asked, wondering where he heard such a word. I decided that surely I must be misunderstanding him.

"My d*ck," he repeated.

No, that can't possibly be what he's saying...could it?

He walked over to the table, picked up a breadstick and announced, "D*ck."

Oh.

"No, honey. That's a stick. A stick."

Don't some people have their links to their blogs in their signature lines?

I found this:

6a. Links in signature lines - B&B is a free service for our members, and maintains a specific set of rules, posting limitations, and fee structure for those advertising goods, services, and outside information sources such as blogs. Members who use their signature lines to promote an outside site are subject to vendor approval and fees. In short, if it's a subject discussed on B&B, links to your signature line (including links to shave blogs) may only be posted by approved and paid vendors.
But I don't think it applies to this conversation...right?

I agree. It doesn't seem like providing the link to your blog in this thread is the same as putting it in your signature line. The rules seem to be targeting more of an ongoing "advertisement" to a sales site or alternative shaving site.

Wow! Are we still ranting? Well, as long as we are...

Women... or should I say guys responses to them when they show up in a mens' shaving forum. I mean guys are tripping over their keyboards to respond to them. It's kind of like when I pull into a truck stop, all these drivers are tripping over themselves to get a look at my wife and then try to strike up a conversation with her. She gets a kick out of it most of the time, but if these guys only knew how silly they look... nah! who am I kidding, they'd still do it.

Anyway, you get the idea, I'm not against women so the ladies can hold their hate PM's.

*holds her hate PM* mmmm... It's warm.

If you are an old saw, you know that this is not going to change. It is worth a look and a laugh, though. We will fall all over ourselves to respond to a female in a mostly male forum. Is that bad? or just embarrassing?

I stayed home today just to make sure I don't over do it and push myself right back into a problem, but the high blood pressure is still a concern. I've got a monitor here at the house so I'll check throughout the day.

Thanks for asking.'

Hope, this was a fluke incident and you never have to deal with it again.

Wow, Blake. I think you certainly answered my question. I suspected this was the case, but I wanted confirmation from someone actually in an ER.

Anyway, I really seem to be fine... well, as far as I can tell. I'm taking it easy today and monitoring my bp every hour. So far, it's been normal, maybe even a little low for me (could it be because I don't have people all around me wanting me to solve their problems for them?). I'm still going to go see my regular doctor (appointment on Monday) just to confirm that what happened yesterday was a freak thing. Yeah, Blake, I am trying to listen to my body to see if it is red alerting me. Thanks for the advice.

I heard them whistling and say something about a nice posterior and thought they were commenting on the rather very attractive nurse I was with at the time. What were those guys there for, anyway?

Speaking of disturbing, a friend of ours had her purse stolen about 9:00 the other night coming out of a grocery store in our area. We live in (I thought) a pretty safe part of town. She left her husband home with the kids in bed and made a quick run to the store. Walking out of the store, a guy came up and grabbed her purse. When she resisted, he stuck a gun in her face and she let go. Apparently he followed her out of the store, with an accomplice waiting in a get-away car. Sadly, they now have not only her cash and credit cards, they also have her ID with her name and address. It's so easy to let our guard down and be victimized!

That sucks! I had to take a theft report last night at work. I hate doing those. I have to sit there, take the information and assure the person we will do everything we can knowing good and well the only hope is if the thief got what they wanted out and ditched the wallet/purse/bag/whatever.

That sucks! I had to take a theft report last night at work. I hate doing those. I have to sit there, take the information and assure the person we will do everything we can knowing good and well the only hope is if the thief got what they wanted out and ditched the wallet/purse/bag/whatever.

Yeah, you can cancel and replace credit cards, but you can't change where you live so easily.

Okay, enough.......before I get in trouble. We're supposed to be supportive here.

That's scary.

I think we all need to be reminded, that no matter where you are, it's always a good idea to be alert and aware of who is around you, or might be there, and consider when you might be putting yourself into a place where someone can hurt you.

Doesn't matter. These things happen more in big cities? Well, you have how many people crammed into a square mile? It just looks safer in smaller towns. Safer places to live are places that don't have much worth going to. If no one is going there, there is no one to steal from. No one to steal from equals less thefts. But, then you have to travel to where there is a place worth going to. You know, for groceries for example. So, all you have done is added drive time to the risk. :lol:

Situational Awareness, that is what makes a difference. :thumbup1:

Screaming rape has a strange effect on people too. Doesn't matter if it is a dude or chick. It catches them off guard when rape was the last thing on their mind. They want a quick, silent, clean getaway. A man or woman screaming rape in a parking lot next to you and suddenly they want to get far, far away from you.

If you hadn't notice, I may not be the best person to take advice from. This technique did save me from being beat up by six dudes in the men's restroom when in High School though. :blush:

Funny thing is, my Captain originally was trying to convince me they wanted to fight me. I laughed and said I could easily take those two by myself. Later, when the reality of the situation had been revealed, I didn't want to leave the office. Holy cow! You folks have been busy today, so bear with me here...

BTW, I will actually be posting some real shaving related stuff this weekend. I have a couple of reviews and findings to post, and attempt to do some Wiki work. Weird. :blink::blink::blink::blink::blink::blink:

Wait, wait, wait... we can do that here? :blink:

As long as you don't make lemonade!! :lol:

Man, I'll never look at fresh squeezed lemonade again. :eek:

Well, it still gets warm in the fall, especially as you go south. Another thing that it does is remove moisture so the windows stay fog free on rainy days. I could have throttled the mechanic the other day when he acted like it wasn't a big deal and bragged about not having AC in his car. I told him I don't have AC in my car either but I'm not driving it for 11 hours a day either.

Yeah, I imagine that 11 hours makes a big difference.

Do you at least get zucchini bread there?:huh:

What's with you and zucchini bread lately? :huh:

The other side of Crafty says shut your lack of pie hole.

:lol::lol::lol:

There's a rule against posting a link to your own blog? :confused:

Says who? :confused:

This is what I'm trying to figure out. Is Mr. Crafty wrong? He's wrong so little. I want him to be wrong just this one time. :glare:

I think he is. I think it only applies to links in your signature and well that's a moot point unless you contribute a considerable amount of coin to B&B.

That's all you got?

I had a disturbing night. There were two emo weirdos at work tonight sitting just outside of our office. I questioned their sexual orientation but they were not obvious.....Yet! I noticed they kept looking in the office but ignored it because sometimes people do that. Not much else to do in the lobby. Then, I exited. I had to pass by them a few times in the next hour. I heard them whistling and say something about a nice posterior and thought they were commenting on the rather very attractive nurse I was with at the time. However, The next few times, I was the only one present. :blink:

Of course, the other officers heard them from in the office. You, of course, know how supportive a group of guys like that can be. :glare:

My! How our young Blake has blossomed! Catching all the young men's eyes... :tongue_sm

1) You now have groupies! :thumbup1:

:lol::lol::lol:

2) Need we mention this as another advantage of going pantsless? :tongue_sm

Attracting emos? :blink:

3) Can you say m-e-n-a-g-e-a-t-r-o-i-s :lol:

For all our sakes, I hope not! :eek:

4) Were the other offices jealous of all the attention you were getting? :tongue_sm:lol:

:lol::lol::lol:

5) :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yes, and that too! :lol::lol::lol:

I actually put on my gear at our end of shift meeting. We then have to go back to the office one more time before we leave. I was praying they were gone before I walked through there in my chaps. :001_rolle

Yeah, I'd pray too. :lol::lol::lol:

I could just see you walking past them, they not realizing you're on the phone and hearing you say "Hey Baby, how you doin'?" :lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I feel dirty. :blink:

You should.

Yes, seems appropriate.

:yesnod:

I just wish I had a friend, like Superman, or Batman..............:w00t:

Seriously, where is the Super Mod?

If you hadn't notice, I may not be the best person to take advice from. This technique did save me from being beat up by six dudes in the men's restroom when in High School though. :blush:

Weren't you home schooled? :blink:

Wow, your parents really took the whole "home schooling" thing to a whole new level. :eek:

:lol::lol::lol:

I only home schooled my last three years. :001_rolle

And he graduated Valedictorian too! :tongue_sm

Although it's much more impressive when you're also not last in class

Funny thing is, my Captain originally was trying to convince me they wanted to fight me. I laughed and said I could easily take those two by myself.

Yeah, I'm sure they would have enjoyed that. :tongue_sm

Most men die in the bathroom, particularly on the john. Bedroom is #2, I believe.

On the throne? Well I guess everyone wants to die on top.

At last, Super Man's true identity has been revealed!

Clark Kent? Oh look his disguise is glasses! :001_rolle

But wait, what about Rob? :huh:

Oddly enough, he's Supergirl. Best not ask more than that.

So, Mrs. Blackfoot just reminded me a little bit ago that The Mississinewa 1812 War Reenactment (http://www.mississinewa1812.com/) is this weekend. This is the largest 1812 War reenactment there is and is held about 45 minutes from my place. I religiously go every year. I unfortunately missed all of the other similar events in the area this year so this may be the only one I break my character out for this year.

I had a very good day, thanks. Got to play on here a little, while doing a little work. No meltdowns, thankfully. And I'm looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow morning we get to watch 7 year olds play baseball, and then we're heading to a Trade Days at a small town about an hour away, so that should be fun.

And you don't have to tell me what planet you're from. I'll go back and look at your earlier post. I remember it had a funny name. Just don't send any scary pumpkins my way.
