I need to get a covert camera for that place.
Speaking of Speedos, funny thing happened to me the other day. My wife and I wanted to go for a swim in the lake the other day and I couldn't find my trunks. Well, when I wear my wet suit I like to wear a good old fashioned Speedo underneath, just to keep things family friendly. So my wife holds it up and says, "you can wear this." My immediate reaction was, "no way!", but she convinced me that there wasn't going to be anyone else there. So I put it on and wrapped a towel around my waist, just in case. We got to my brother's beach and I tossed off the towel. We were just wading in when my beloved wife reminded me of the webcam my dad installed on the tree. Aaagh!!
I quickly got in the water and made sure to cover up with a raft when I got out and got my towel. I hoped and prayed that no one was monitoring the webcam. Then later that day I got a text from my brother-in-law saying that my dad sent him a picture... I almost dropped my phone, but asked the dreaded question, "what picture?" He says, "The one of the new TV you put in my cottage. Thanks." Me, "Oh that, you're welcome.", as I wiped the sweat from my brow.

Because I will be around and have nothing to do. My wife is working that week in Merrill, WI. Then we are heading over to Alma and renting a houseboat for a few days. I thought if you were swinging by, maybe I could meet you for lunch or something. One day I plan on driving up to see Mama Bear's place.

I bought four razors today for under $10.
1) a short handled 1912 GEM
2) an Ever-ready, BTW are the heads on the Ever-readys completely different from the GEMs? This is basically straight out, as opposed to angled down.
3) A Christy SE razor. I have seen only one of these before, and the guy wanted $20 for it. It came with three other razors, so I got it, but not on purpose.
4) A Segal DE razor. I have heard of these before, and decided since it came with the Ever-ready that I wanted, and the price was so cheap, there was no sense in balking it.

On another matter, I'm not sleeping yet again, but thanks to the miracle of youtube and a little music theory, I've discovered another and really easy way to play the confounded MF-ing F chord without having to barre it. And no, it's not a power chord (which is also easy, but unpracticed for me).

Thanks! Anytime I see a deal on some, I buy them. I figure, if I don't like it, I can always sell it or work a trade deal with someone.
The Ever-Ready is nice, I was just surprised by the difference in the blade angle. The Segal is weird. I can't figure out how to get the old blade out of the Christy, or what kind of blades it takes. So my recent purchases have me a little confused.

You'll have to poke around here and the wiki a bit, but I think there's a guide somewhere on both those razors and how to change blades. I seem to think that the Chrisy uses a proprietary blade of some sort. Might be wrong.
As for sleeping... well, I find music theory somewhat interesting, but can only absorb it in small doses or I get overloaded. It's all just applied math and physics anyhow. tee hee.

Some interesting info on the Christy. I dug up several articles on them. However, I have not found anything that tells me how to clean them or change blades, should I find any. Based on what other guys have done, it might be easier to figure out a way to use the Segal.

I have a Christy or two laying around here somewhere. I am wanting to try out my Seagel though. I have never attempted to alter a blade for it yet.

Have you been able to use the Christy? Or is it doomed to more or less be a collectors item?
The Segal is (was) gold plated. It has a lot of plate wear and damage, but other than that is in excellent condition. They look to have been solidly made. The previous owner ovbiously loved it and used it a lot. The Christy was used a good bit too...

The Christy is less a collector's item from what I can tell. I haven't looked into it at all but I have seen the original blades and it doesn't look like a simple modification.
You are correct; the Seagel seems to be a very well made razor. :thumbup1: The gold is in decent shape on mine but a tooth is missing.

Well, I took Mrs. Blackfoot into Fort Wayne for a late breakfast. Afterwards, she asked to stop at a couple of stores. She didn't actually ask. I asked her if there was anything she wanted to do before we went home. She said she wanted to go to TJMax and Goodwill but wasn't asking me to do that. Stupid me was feeling charitable and thought I haven't went shopping with her in some time. So, I might as well take her.
TJMAx was fine. But, Goodwill, oh dear God, Goodwill! They were having a half off sale and we didn't know it. I had to wait to get a parking spot. That should have been enough to turn me away but I was trying to do something for my wife and felt like I needed to tough it out.
For those that don't know, I don't like crowds. I have panic attacks sometimes if a place is packed. I all but become a hermit from Thanksgiving to Christmas because there is no way I'm going to any retail stores.
It is good to force myself to deal with it sometimes so that I don't withdraw into a cave. But this was ridiculous! You couldn't hardly get through the aisles. the checkout line wrapped around the inside of the store. I was fine for the most part. I keep my back to a wall and scan the crowds like I am searching for a sniper or something. That is just my nature/training. but, once I got in line to check out things got bad.
We finally make it to the registers. They have three going and really, I have to admit they were doing an okay job at keeping things moving. The last register calls next. Mrs. Blackfoot takes our stuff to the register. The lady at the middle one had another cart and I could get our cart around hers to get to my wife. The line had a single switchback, so I could just go under the ropes. So, I stand there with the cart between registers one and two. Of course, this lady has a bunch of stuff and has already been there a while. My wife completes here transaction and goes outside thinking that is where I am. she came back in and found my predicament. Multiple people had used register one, but none of them had shopping carts. The lady at register two finally goes to pay. Naturally, she is writing a check. It's okay, just breath. It's almost over. Typical, she took forever and then, after what seemed like an eternity, I realize they are telling her her check was declined. Alright, my hands are now shaking and I can feel my chest starting to tighten up bad. Breathing is becoming laboured.
Register three calls for someone and the person behind me has a cart and can't get through either. Then, a rather attractive lady in the switchback says something about me only having one item and feels bad because I can't get to the register. No ma'am, that is my jacket. My wife checked out quite some time ago and I am stuck. Bad Check Lady just grumbled at me as if it were my fault.I was contemplating the satisfaction that would be derived from feeding that vase to her when I realize the attractive lady is getting people moved around and manages to get me a path to go under the ropes and escape.
I thank her and walk to the end of the switchback. The exit is at the corner of the building and the row of registers ends there. However, the line wraps around this corner and I cannot get through. I am standing there twenty feet from the door and still can't get out! There was an old lady in a wheel chair and a row of carts. I had to look like a scared wild animal that is cornered. I literally wanted to scream! The husband of one of the customers must have understood. He had not been in line but ran up and made his wife and mother-in-law move their carts. It took some finagling, but he got me a path through.
I stepped out into the fresh air, almost running, and stopped to breathe. My wife asked if I was okay and I said no. I really thought I was going to vomit. I have not had that bad of an attack in years! As we got to the bike, I saw Bad Check Lady walk by with nothing but her purse. I asked my wife, "Is there anything else we have to do?" She said "I am guessing the other Goodwill is out of the question. This did not even merit a response. I fired the motorcycle up and we rode for home.
I still feel half sick.

I don't get panic attacks for crowds, but I avoid them if at all possible. Must be from growing up in small towns. Most of my young co-workers either live in Orlando or on the beach so that they can go out partying on after work. Considering we live in a town that has at least 4 McD's and a Wal-Mart and Target, it is the largest town that I have lived in for any extended period of time.

So I guess you don't ride the Subway?
This reminded me of a funny story...
The first time I lived in Japan a friend and I were traveling from our home station to one of those sunny resort locations in the Middle East. On our way we had to catch the subway in Tokyo from one airport to the other.
Everyone warned us both that riding the trains in Tokyo was difficult. So we got there plenty early, purchased our tickets and were standing there waiting for the train. At about five minutes prior to the trains arrival we were still the only two people standing on the platform. We both started to worry that we misread what platform we were supposed to be on.
Then about 30 seconds before the scheduled arrival someone opened the floodgates. In a matter of about 10 seconds we went from being the only two people waiting for the train to the two thoroughly confused gaijin stuck smack in the middle of a crowd so large there was absolutely no way everyone was getting on the train.
Almost immediately after this whirlwind flood of people smashed us into the middle of the crowd the train arrived, the doors opened on the far side and the occupants exited. Then the doors opened on our side, and literally like a land slide the massive crowd seemed to flow into the open doors. Next thing we knew we were stuck in the back corner of the car we were riding in both of us wondering how the heck we got in there. To be perfectly honest, to this day, I don't remember moving my feet/legs at all. This thing was packed. There were so many people in the train it was literally difficult to fill your lungs with air, not because it wasn't available but because your chest was being crushed by the immense pressure.
Once we finally reached the other airport the doors opened and in the same insane manner that the train filled it emptied. Again, I don't remember moving a single muscle, but we ended up just as we started two confused foreigners standing alone on the middle of the platform.
I don't think it took the local 30 seconds to over pack a subway car and/or totally empty and overpacked subway car.
Probably, hard to imagine, but it was a riot!:lol:

In honor of the crowd stories, here is my anti-crowd mini-story.
Grocery shopping is kind of a family affair for us. Mr. Crafty takes the tiny Crafty off to do the main shopping, and I wait in line at the deli with 6-year-old Crafty.
Mind you, we tend to go at a certain time every Friday when the store will not be crowded. On a particular Friday a few weeks ago, I was standing at the deli with my assigned Crafty. There was a single person in front of me-- a quiet older man who was placing his order at the counter. I am standing with my son a few feet behind him. Close enough that it is obvious I'm in line, far enough away that we have personal space. Not exactly standing on his heels. No one else is around us.
After a few moments, a woman who I can only imagine is his wife comes flying by with her cart, passing so close to me and little Crafty that she darn near ran into us. And then...
That woman turned around and GLARED at me! Just out of the blue. I had not moved, she almost hit us, and she gives me this nasty look like I had done something wrong. Well, she exchanged some quiet angry words with her husband and went flying off in the opposite direction.
So I do one of these :001_rolle and continue on my day. Maybe that's why I don't mind Christmas shopping. I can deal with the crowds, but oddly, not the traffic. So I tend to go at like 8pm when everyone is mostly gone.

And then, something that seems like it isn't a big deal shuts me down. Honestly, I do better on trains and subways than I do the platforms. The only thing I can figure is out on an open platform, I am at risk from any number of places. On the train, I have specific points off access to cover.
If you were to think as if you were under constant danger of attack, you understand me a lot better. My wife jokes about it sometimes. Because my Mom was attacked as a teenager. A man wearing nothing but a trench coat grabbed her from behind. She broke the guy's nose with her head and got away. Then my dad was a cop and taught me a lot. So, she says I have paranoia and the training, neither of which are warranted.
This reminded me of a funny story...
Probably, hard to imagine, but it was a riot!:lol:
:lol::lol::lol:
Finished the story for you....or maybe that was me....hmmmmmm :shifty:

as much as I would hate that, that's mighty impressive.
too bad here in the US we're too indoctrinated to be egocentric, and if that same scenario were to try and happen here, there'd be fist-fights, name-calling, and probably a shooting or 4.

You are right. I've ridden on trains here in Japan with a beautiful woman completely smashed up against me. Exactly why I'm torn, I like Boise St.
And I think they've certainly gotten plenty of respect the past 3 years.
However, until they play more than 1 or two big games a year, they're going to have a hard time comparing to a 1 loss Bama or Texas on schedule strength.
It sucks for them, and it's not entirely their fault, but it does end up working against them. Particularly if Bama has a loss (I have a feeling it will happen), considering they play 6 weeks in a row against a good team that's coming off a bye week and have 2 weeks to prepare.
Considering all the other "major" schools have a tougher schedule, everyone will have to drop two games for Boise to make it in the picture.
Not saying that going undefeated is easy no matter who they play, and certainly beyond doubt deserves credit, but for me, they've got to play more than 2 high-profile games a year to make their case.
Again, I think they could, but they've got to do it to prove it.
oh, and ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!

No, Blake. Tell us. Tell us all about it.
Remember, you asked for it. :sneaky2:
We took over a Patient Watch from 2nd shift. It was a large drunk guy that had just suddenly flipped out and through the bed on it's side and made a general ruckus. He decided to leave and four grown male security officers were afraid of him and didn't stop him. They managed to talk him back into the building once he was in the Ambulance bay. He was in restraints when we took over.
Well, I was with one of my guys in the van. He is a former police officer trying to get back onto a department. As we were pulling into the Ambulance bay, we heard a call for back-up. It was one of our two part timers working that night. We could tell by her voice she was in trouble. We ran across the bay and found her and this drunk man in the Ambulance Entrance. I'll giver her credit. She stayed in front of him and slowed him up considerably. I would have agreed she's been a fool to take him by herself.
When Case and I ran up, he took off back inside. The other part timer was just coming through the doors and literally jumped out of the guy's way. He later realized how stupid that was and is embarrassed. I told him I have no problem with officers making a mistake. As long as they admit and can see what they did wrong and learn from it, I don't care. He's just a kid anyhow with little to no self-confidence and thinks he's going to be a cop some day. :001_rolle
Well, Case ran around the outside, thinking the guy was going out the front doors. I almost followed but changed my mind and followed the patient. Now, when I was in great shape, I was not a runner. And, the two rookies in front of me are 20 and 23. The patient was twice their age. I outran them all and caught up with the patient. I wasn't going to try and tackle him without some solid back-up though and case was outside. The patient did not exit as we expected. Instead he tried to run into a locked door that leads to the rest of the hospital. That didn't work.
So, here I am with this guy cornered and Probie, the one that jumped out of his way. The other two weren't there yet. If you watch a man's eyes, you can tell what he is about to do. I could see he was about to run back through Probie and we would be chasing again. But, I'm waiting for back-up. Then, he made his mistake. He took a swing at me. He missed but this changed the playing field. He was about to take a swing at Probie. That would have been hilarious to watch but you don't try to hit me or my officers. I was officially done with this guy, back-up or no. I took him down with a basic take-down so fast it surprised me. Before he knew what happened I had him spread out on the ground in an arm bar. Probie jumped in and pretended to help.
Next thing I know, I am barking orders at the other officers like like they were my soldiers. When I am in automatic mode, I do that sometimes and they know not to say anything. They just obey.
Everyone, including the Captain was really impressed and telling me all night how awesome it was. The fact he was so big and 2nd shift was scared made it even a bigger deal. I tried to point out he was drunk. But, the real fun was telling them this old man had to show the kids how it is done. After all, I have an average of ten years on ll of them.
The down side is, I screwed up my knee. By the end of the shift I couldn't take the stairs at all. I was able to hide it from all but Case. In fact, at one point, I had to run a ways to another call for back-up. You look really stupid running down the hall and then waiting on an elevator. :whistling:

The following short quiz consists of 4 questions and will tell you whether you are qualified to be a professional. The questions are NOT that difficult.
1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?
Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.
2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?
Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?
Wrong Answer.
Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.
3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend.... except one. Which animal does not attend?
Correct Answer: The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory.
Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.
4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?
Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

wait a minute....I may need to reconsider this crowd-aversion thing I have and move to Japan....
yes, I'm kidding
no, seriously, I am kidding. A couple of years ago one of the youth from my church got to go to Japan for a 3 week stay with some group, wasn't a church group, but was a bunch of high school seniors.
He had a great time, but....well, lemme put it this way, we're about the same size, ~6'2" (he's actually a tad taller, but not significantly), and a bit overweight.
Yeah, he had a challenging time in most buildings - so, basically...

My rather large cousin went to China and was admired because of his size...
Umm........:blink::blink::blink::blink::blink::bli nk::blink:
We are Family!
:whistling:
Man, I guess I am the old man.
:lol::lol::lol:

"It's all those feathers and beaks that gets caught up in the machinery that makes a bad milkshake. Either that, or they simply don't have the capacity for the concentration to learn how many scoops of ice cream to put in the blender and when to press the button. All they wanna do is roost and lay eggs in the van. Cause it's a mobile milkshake maker. (gasp!) The Mobile Milkshake Maker! MMM! That's a really good idea! The Mobile Milkshake Maker, MMM! No?"

GIMP does have a big learning curve, but at least you used the right program too (not photoshop).
I would spell it GIMP, not gimp.
Oh, for Pete's sake, people. See my name? I am CRAFTY not Techy, Computer-y or any other -y. I should get bonus points for just opening the program. And actually looking up how to use it.
Edited to say: Sorry, Rich. I read that as DOESN'T have a big learning curve. Trying to get a background transparent was not as easy as I assumed it would be.
