:lol::lol: I have found 3 Magneto Tux, no Imperial guard, though.

it goes where it pleases

Love is like a butterfly,
hold it too tight, it'll crush,
hold it too loose, it'll fly.

Not cool! I just fell down the stairs and can feel my knee tightening up already. This sucks! I used to have a lot of problems with my knees and even had to walk with a cane for weeks at a time. I thought it was something I would have to live with but Mrs. Blackfoot said I was too young to be using a cane and made me go to a specialist. Turns out, with a little Physical Therapy and orthotics, I haven't had any problems in a few years. I really don't want to have to start that crap all over again. :thumbdown

The Leg press at the gym has really been helping with my bad knee. Funny what exercise will do.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Indiana Jones has jumped the shark and you were here to witness the moment it happened!

No actually I destroyed her. I mean come on a guy and a girl that weigh the same... The Guy is going to be grossly stronger 99% of the time. When it was over she cried, hugged and thanked me. She said every other school forfeited her match so in six meetings I was the first to actually give her a chance to do what she wanted to do.

As far as what was inappropriate I'll just say that wrestling puts you in some strange positions and things were a bit fishy.

And poetry hour begins! Were you all posting favorites or just some that you like. Here is one of my all time favorite poems:

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Hey Rob, it looks like you need to edit some of your end quotes... or something.

Yup, I noticed that when I posted the roll to end all roll's. I don't know what caused it but decided not to mess with it.

BTW, if people keep quoting that massive roll the Tat will be 50K pages in no time!

If one mostly quotes oneself, does it really count as a roll?

That's what I'm thinking...

I believe that was called, "Nuking the fridge".

:yesnod:

Forgive me guys, for going OT and talking about  ... shaving....

I had to let you know that I lathered up today with some NOS Safari (ralph lauren) SS today thanks to Rob's recent sale. It's not a scent that I would wear as an EDT, to tell you the truth, but as an SS it was very nice. First ingredient: TALLOW! and it lathered up with nary an effort. My shave was comfy and close. Get some if you get the chance.

(now back to your regularly scheduled non-shaving nonsense)

My thoughts exactly. I don't think I could bring myself to wear it as a scent but as a SS it is awesome! Glad you are enjoying it.

Since we diverged into shaving...

I, too was recipient of some of Rob's gear (LUX and plastic Wilkinson). I've used the LUX and found it to be very nice; better than the Schick Corona that I had been using. I may try the Wilkinson next...

Glad you like!

Yeah, that scene really tried my willing suspension of disbelief...

You could say that again.

Thanks for the new term. "Jumped the shark," has really, well... jumped the shark. "Nuked the fridge," is so much more fun to say.

:yesnod:

they had to do that so you'd be ready for the more ridiculous suspension of disbelief of the rest of the movie

No doubt.

I was actually hoping to head to the Boundary Waters this year. If not, Wisconsin, Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, was actually very nice. Although I must admit, all of the great near-death stuff happened in Kentucky. Maybe Kentucky is the better choice.

My bike is nearly 40 years old, first off. It is a little concerning to ride it that far. Second, and I mean no offense but this but it is a fact, my bike is not a fan of the weight of both Mrs. Blackfoot and I. It rides fine, but we bottom out on bumps all the time. Third, it really doesn't have any place to put that much stuff. A weekend trip, I can load onto it, but not for a week or more. Plus, that is even more weight.

:lol::lol:

I've never really watched it but saw that skit and about died laughing! I don't know why, but it was hilarious! Of course, I was a little drunk at the time of watching it.

Ouch. It really gets scary when he and skklog model those mother-daughter matching outfits. But, Blake at least remembers to shave his legs.

Last night started off sucking big time. We had to escort a patient's husband off property in the first 45 minutes. Then, a stabbing. My next call was one of those that humans should never have to experience. Another officer volunteered to go with me for that one. He said that is something one should not have to do alone. I think he regretted it. He admitted there is a part of him that always questions God's purposes when he deals with that sort of thing. I appreciated the moral support, but I felt like I ended up being his support and had to hide my personal feelings even more.

I thought I was fine until someone asked me if I was alright. Apparently it affected me a little after all. Therefore, some serious cheering up was called for, for both of us. Once again, my evil mind came up with a cruel and entertaining pastime. I discovered, if I dial an outside line and then dial the direct extension, the number does not show up as the extension it came from. So, I do this and place the call on hold as soon as it starts to ring. The receiving person picks up the phone and gets the annoying music/advertisements and is on hold.

My partner and I proceeded to walk all over the hospital and call one officer that is the "outsider" of our shift. She was posted at the lobby and probably got fifty phone calls from us in the last hour of the day. I got brave and did a couple within sight of her. She saw me on the second one so I called the Captain. This way she saw me actually using then phone. To help save my cover, he did it to her so that it was obviously not me.

A good time was had by all! Well, except for that officer receiving all the phone calls. :sneaky2:

I was doing the touch ups on my head. I didn't even realize I had nicked it up I got out of the shower, put my glasses on and saw my ear was bloody. It was only a tiny nick, but it bled for over 30 minutes, nothing would make it stop....and I have seemed to lost my styptic pencil.

I find that witch hazel works pretty well in those situations, but hey YMMV.

I wear my glasses when shaving my face. I take them off when shaving my head around the ears. The glasses get in the way if I don't.

Witch hazel normally works, but this time, nothing did.

Um, Blake, the wineries tend to be on the west coast of the Lower Peninsula not the the Upper Peninsula.

Turns out, with a little Physical Therapy and orthotics, I haven't had any problems in a few years. I really don't want to have to start that crap all over again. :thumbdown

At least this one is anyway. I'm pretty thankful for her.

We researched possible employers pretty thoroughly and this one came in second. The first choice required two years of driving experience and I only have one.

As I was too far behind in my reading to even contemplate doing any sort of multi-quote, I have now momentarily caught up and would like to offer the following poem, which I wrote several years ago, for your literary perusal:

Locked up in myself

I am locked up in myself.
The outside world that once was my reality has receded in the distance,
Peopled by phantoms whose voices echo
Through the tangled forests and ruined cities
I am forced to hide in.

The voices around me are screaming.
I pack my ears with moss from the trees
That reach out for me as I run,
But the voices come through.
Nothing I can do will stop them.

Around me, those who profess to want to help me are speaking,
But their words hold no meaning.
The trees of the forests and the walls of the buildings
Shatter the sounds, and the words become a part
Of the shouts and laughter that follow me.

At night, the wolves bay at the gibbous moon
And I hide, unsure of where I am
And unable to find sanctuary,
Never knowing when they will find me,
Sure that it is only a matter of time.

Time stretches and contracts,
The days and nights part and parcel of one another.
The laughing face of the moon mocks me as the wolves howl.
My family reaches out, striving to help me return,
But instead drive me further into the uncharted reaches, my fears hounding me.

I am surrounded by darkness, and struggle always toward the light,
Knowing that if I can touch it for just a moment,
I will be free of this dark place.
But my struggles are in vain, for I am trapped beyond all succor.
I am locked up in myself.

© 2005 Chuck Buchanan

PS I have no idea where this came from. I am not normally of such a dark frame of mind, but this one suddenly sprang to life in my head and I was forced to drop what I was doing and race to my computer and type it. I literally had chills while I was typing...

Were you supposed to be released from Arkham?

We wish to ensure all citizens that this is merely a training exercise and that there nothing to be concerned about. Please go about your business as usual.

Had this been an actual emergency, you would have been instructed to walk outside and calmly await death.

I'm not sure why I have been the one to step away from the inanity so much lately, but I have something serious to say.

I was speaking to a member that is taking their leave the other night. One thing he mentioned was the quality of information in the Newbie forum has gone downhill. The thread he pointed to seemed to indicate he was correct.

Now, I must admit, I have been barely able to keep up with the threads I am already subscribed to and have not been spending very much time in the Newbie forum lately. That is a lot of the reason Rob has left me in the dust I suppose. I believe we all get a little tired of answering the same questions over and over again.

On the other hand, Remember when we were noobs. We asked the same basic questions. I know I would have never made it if there hadn't been people like Rob (Slaglerock), Chip (Rabidpotatochip), and Ray (Thirdeye) that really took the extra time. There were others but these were the three that seemed to stick out. So, those of us that have been around a little owe it to the boards to try to pass on the Karma.

I'm not implying that anyone here is not doing that. I am sort of speaking my own thoughts. Hopefully, if you are in the same boat as I, this will serve as a little reminder to take a few minutes of our time on here to pop into the Newbie Forum and see if we can't give a quick answer to someone.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled beating of the evil penguin. :batman:

:thumbup1: It seems like we go through this from time to time. Those who have been around a while get burned out answering the same q's over and over. The rest of us due to lack of time or whatever just don't do or say anything. Of course, I keep asking myself, what do I really know? And sometimes I surprise myself with what experience has taught me. I forget that I actually can help. For the first time in about a month, probably because of today, I popped in the Newbie threads, and probably confused the crap out of them. But, I tried.

actually, it was random and even, it was the first post of every 100th page

So what you're saying is it isn't really random at all, but very carefully planned.
