After having read this (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=162720) I decided to calculate the time it will take, at the current rates, for Blake to overtake Rob...

For those wishing to tempt fate see below:

But because of a certain cat killing experiment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schroedinger%27s_cat), now that it has been measured, measuring will influence the outcome...

or something like that.

It wasn't that long ago Rob and I were neck to neck. We passed at least three milestones in a row on the same day. Unfortunately, motorcycle season started up. Who knows, maybe I will close the gap come winter. Looks like I am still top non-Mod though. Sad really.

Chad, I couldn't care less about my post count. You are absolutely right about that. I do take it personally when I ask simple questions of friends that go completely ignored though. I'm sorry about that. It is a character flaw that I recognize though.

My father taught me never to argue with soda thieves.

:lol::lol:

If you can't say anything nice, ...

I told her about this conversation and she said, "Did you tell them my run was more of a waddle?"

It really is. She is so cute when she tries to run.

When I get really hungry, I can get real cranky. Not as bad as I used to though, I've learned to control it quite a bit. Several years ago, we got to go to Europe. One of our last days, I had planned on touring a castle. That was what I said I wanted to do from the moment I knew we were going. Well, we were running late all day and we weren't going to have much time. So, we stopped at a McDonalds to eat. Our card was declined. So was our back-up. So, I see my dream slipping through my fingers, I am embarrassed, I am freaking hungry, and I was furious. We had called ahead to tell the CC company we would be there and they shut us off anyhow.

Well, we paid for the food with what little cash we had left. It took all but a few cents. My dear wife, said she would be right back and tried to find a bank. I ate my food and sulked as I watched the time go by and knew I wasn't going to see my castle. I sat there in a funk getting more and more upset about the whole thing. Then, I noticed something.

Looking out the window, I saw Mrs. Blackfoot running through the crowd down the street. I could tell she was hurrying, not fleeing, so I sat there. I had no idea where she was going. A few minutes later, I saw her run by again, going somewhere different. This time, I noted her cute waddle/run but was still too angry to be amused. Several minutes later, there she goes again. What the devil is going on? By the time I saw her again, I was chuckling to myself.

I suddenly felt really bad. This poor girl was doing everything she could to try and get me to my castle even though there was no hope. How could I be upset with her with her running that silly run of hers all over town? Besides, I knew it wasn't her fault.

Turns out, she had been to three banks, tried to make several calls to customer service, went to a Western Union, and made a collect call to her parents. She was able to get us some money to get us back to our hotel for the evening and we were able to call CS there. Apparently, Visa only works on US time zones or something.

Every time I see her running, I think of that day watching her run through the streets of Ghent, Belgium and I laugh and think what a lucky guy I am.

Now, why hasn't she got me another soda yet?

Did I or did I not make you bread and iced tea?

Now shut it.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Ladies & Gentlemen! Gather around for an important announcement! You too Matt.

I took Mrs. Blackfoot to Walmart to get dryer sheets so I could wash my uniforms. Completely useless to the point, but that is how I roll. When she returned to the car, she had three things of soda. I don't usually drink soda. How odd. :001_huh: I get out to help her, and it is Throwback Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Heritage Dr. Pepper! It is back!

Where is that bloody happy dance smiley?

Darn! I was just at Walmart too. I didn't even know they carried that. It's about a two mile walk back to the store, so I guess I'll have to wait for another Walmart stop.

Good for you Blake. Sounds like someone deserves a foot massage in that house, (hint to Blake, that means you massaging Mrs. Blackfoots feet).

I haven't done much running the past 2 years because, well...I hate it.

But, I finally was able to acquire some of the Vibram Five Finger shoes recently, and done quite a bit of running jogging, and I like it a lot.
I definitely prefer barefoot where your body supports itself instead of a shoe that does it for you.
I'm the same with strength workout. Give me body-weight exercises, jump rope, and a sand bag over machines and bars anyday

Health-wise, probably. However, caffeine does not affect me as it does most people. In fact, I do not get anything out of it. I actually discovered caffeine makes me sleepy. I do not get any high but I do get the bottom out. I discovered this after going to night shift. If I don't drink any caffeine, I have an easier time staying awake.

Later, speaking to a nurse, I discovered the reason is I suffer from ADHD. Apparently, this will make some chemicals have the opposite reaction to me than to normal people. I don't remember the details now, but this is the principle that medication used to treat ADHD work on.

Another one is Benadryl. Most people get sleepy from this. I get higher than a kite! The last time I took it, I went to see my neighbour. The next day, he asked me, "You don't smoke pot do you?" It seems that I was quite high and was sitting on the back of his flatbed truck when I fell off. He got me back to my house and I assured him I was fine. He checked on me early the next morning. I do remember going over to see him but not any of the crazy stuff he saw.

yeah, I meant to comment on the prior mention of this:

the Pepsi Throwback is good stuff, was the first non-root beer I'd had the last four years (and the total amount of root beer those 4+ years would be less than 1 liter combined).
The Throwback Mt. Dew was okay, better than the non-sugar one.
Same to be said about Dr. Pepper. I'm normally can't stand Dr. Pepper, but the real-sugar version (which is what Dublin Dr. Pepper (http://www.dublindrpepper.com/) has always been, and it's good) I can actually drink. Don't know what it is with Dr. Pepper, but I've never liked it (although I do like Mr. Pibb, arguably the same stuff, similar flavor, but there's something different about Dr. Pepper)

Pepper)

It's funny. I can tell as soon as I taste these, this is what they were meant to taste like. It really ruins that modern crap they serve for me.

Health-wise, probably. However, caffeine does not affect me as it does most people. In fact, I do not get anything out of it. I actually discovered caffeine makes me sleepy. I'm the same way, caffeine does nothing but multiply my restroom trips exponentially. We were on a mission trip in Colorado when I was in high school and we (several of the youth) found a store with Jolt cola (I think it's illegal in Texas, never seen it before). We all pitched in and got a case of it.
While everyone else was up all night being goofy, after I had drank 2 cans, I said good-night and went right to sleep.

Yeah, I had heard the ADHD-caffeine connection before, that Ritalin is basically legal speed. Back when I was still youth minister a couple years ago, there were 3 kids on Ritalin, though I think one was honestly just a discipline problem (I also believe 99% of the ones who "need" Ritalin actually need tough discipline and they'll be fine).

But, I'm also not ADH...hey look! squirrels!

:yesnod: One of the early (and very effective) pre-Ritalin treatments for true ADHD kids (as opposed to kids who needed parents who believed in boundary enforcement) is/was a cup of strong black coffee first thing in the morning. Of course, then they invented Ritalin and the drug companies started pushing it....

edit: oh, and I've noticed that caffeine makes me sleepy only if I've had way too much of it over a reasonable period of time. Every couple months I just have to go cold turkey for a week or two because of that, but otherwise, it affects me normally.

My opinion is that most of the problem children that I've seen suffer from a lack of boundary enforcement or that their bored. ( I swear I don't know how the linoleum got burned in the bathroom, it was like that when I got here this morning.)

Also, my co-workers are seriously questioning my sanity because I keep chuckling to myself.

Point 1: I know what you mean. Before I gave up soda, I would sit and read in bed drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew. When I was falling asleep reading, I would put the cap on and roll over and go to sleep. No problem.

Point 2: I agree. Obviously, I had ADHD and did not know it until I was in my mid=twenties. I just thought I was an a**. Seriously, I had a horrible temper when I was younger. If you care to hear a funny story, I will tell about the time I seriously almost killed a man. It is funny. It was one of the only times I ever assaulted someone in anger though. Normally, I got upset about stupid stuff, and I knew it and could help it. Discovering ADHD is what helped me finally get control. Like I said, I have a great wife and owe her a lot.

But, I still agree that a lot of it is discipline. Not all, mind you and some cases are more extreme than others. But, if I can control it, anybody can. :thumbup1:

From what I can see, I agree with you in most cases. Parents don't want to be "the bad guy" and enforce boundaries in many cases and ritalin (etc.) can be an easy answer for them. Easier for them to admit that the kid has a "problem" rather than for them to enforce boundaries and risk being "the bad guy." (there are of course, cases of true adhd and of parents for whom medication is the only and best answer to the child's needs)

To go further off topic, a psychologist friend once said to me that what he sees as one of the problems with many parents today is that they let the kids rule the roost b/c the parent is terrified that the kid won't love them if they have rules, etc. As opposed to an earlier generation where children tried to do what parents expected (in general) b/c children were afraid of displeasing the parents.

right, there are many cases with serious chemical imbalances (won't go into what some of those causes may happen to be...parentswhosmokeanddrinkanddidotherstuffwhilep regnant...)
but many are cases of discipline and boundaries.

I know of several young people who, after signing up for martial arts classes, were "able" to get off their medicine. The right coach (not limited to sports, mind you) (which means "parents" in most cases) can help a young person not be dependant on a medicine that their brain is perfectly capable of handling.
But then again, I fully admit there are some young people that do need it.
The problem is teachers, parents, half-parents, uninvolved parents, etc., that see a discipline issue, and instead of taking the high road and showing tough love, take the easy way.....

hang on a sec, I need to step off of Jesse's username.....

Here is my issue with the way we treat it. Kid throws a fit in class. Well, he has ADHD. So, this is an excuse for him to do anything he wants? There are no consequences for his actions? Throw some meds at him and wait until he does it again so we can condone it then too. That is societies answer.

Okay, I am getting down now too.

I haven't done the proper research, but here is an interesting thought...

"Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority, they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers."

- Socrates, (circa 400BC)

Okay, I feel an overwhelming need to tell about the time I almost killed a man. If you don't like, tough! I'll come for you next.

Okay, this was when I was first starting to get help. I had not been properly diagnosed yet. The medication I was on helped a lot, but was a little unstable. Therefore, when I tripped the trigger, it was even more volatile than normal. You just never knew what to expect.

Skklog, our uncle and a friend and I all went canoing down a river one day. I was in the canoe with a friend and Klog and Uncle K had the kayaks. Well, our friend (We shall call him J) was a stubborn son of a.....never mind. Long story short, he almost capsized us because he refused to follow my lead like he was supposed to. I kept us up, but was not happy. We get out and he decides to argue with me to prove he was in the right. I warned him several times to shut up and get out of my way because I was trapped. I could feel it coming on and knew I had to get away from him. So, I pushed on the canoe to get it out of my way. Well, in anger, you are stronger than you realize and Klog and to go chasing my canoe down the river. So, I really look like a jerk now which angers me more, but I get away.

After time to cool off, I go to get my canoe. There is J standing with a kayak. As soon as he sees me, he starts back in. I snapped. I dropped the canoe and stomped over to him. I remember having every intention of punching him, but I didn't. He later said he knew I was going to. Yet, he didn't shut up. Instead, I picked him up and threw him into the river, literally. He stands up and I remember him say, "you didn't prove anything. I am still right." Well, maybe this will prove something. I stomped out to him. He raised his arm to protect himself and I grabbed it, spun him around and locked his arm behind his back and kicked his knees out from under him. Now, he is on his knees n a river with his arm locked. Does he shut up? Of course not. Well, I have a solution for that. I grab his hair and hold him under. I pull him up and it is as if he had never stopped talking. So, back down he went. Each time, I held him under a little longer. Yet, he wouldn't shut up.

Finally, while holding him under, my brain snaps back into gear and I realize the only way he is going to shut up is if I kill him. I let go and waded back to shore where my uncle and Klog were watching, not daring to intervene, I guess. With what rage I still had, I carried my canoe all by myself all the way back to the truck. J was coughing and sputtering, but still trying to argue his point.

My uncle is a very mild person and does not associate with people who can not control themselves. So, I was afraid he would never invite me to do anything again. Next week, he did. I said something to him about it. He told me, every single one of J's friends have tried to kill him at least once. He admitted he had chased him off his property once kicking and beating on his car as J drove away. He understood what I did.

Funny thing was, the next time I saw J, he apologized to me and said I was 100% right. Both about the near capsize and him not shutting up. I was quite impressed that he did this. We have been much better friends ever since.

I am not proud of it, but it is something we all still laugh about to this day. Thank God, that was the only time I ever touched someone while losing my temper. I was a very different person back then. Now when I attempt to kill someone, it is with quiet, cool and calm deliberation.

Agreed for the most part. Reminds me of a certain little boy I know. (No, not OUR boys. No. You know the one I mean.)

Incidentally, I recently heard that giving "wiggle chairs" to children in school, especially boys, helps lower incidents of ADHD, because little boys learn better when they are allowed to move a little bit.

CLARIFICATION: I am in no way saying there is no such thing as ADHD. I'm saying that I believe in recent years it has been over-diagnosed.

But, I finally was able to acquire some of the Vibram Five Finger shoes recently, and done quite a bit of running jogging, and I like it a lot.
I definitely prefer barefoot where your body supports itself instead of a shoe that does it for you.

Alright, I did it. I put 32-bit Ubuntu on the desktop so if you can hear Crafty swearing, it's my fault.

Actually it went pretty well. I was even able to get the industrial trackball (identical to the ones used to launch Delta II* rockets only more ruggedized) to work properly. In a side note, you'd think that all rockets have automated launch systems with no button to push. Well, the Delta II actually has a trackball button to push.

*missions such as: MER-A (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MER_A), MER-B (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MER_B), WISE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WISE_mission), and the infamous USA-193 or NROL-21 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA-193)

Nuff said. I will work on fixing the damage.

OK, so I'm just irritated about the visual settings. No big deal. But it's like when someone moves your seat in the car. You had it the way you liked it.

But, in Mr. Crafty's defence, it does run better now.

 Caffeine has no effect on me, either. People think I lie when I tell them that. Benadryl I normally avoid, but anything with Pseudophedrine in it makes me high as a kite. I can only take it if I am going straight to bed.

Incidentally, I recently heard that giving "wiggle chairs" to children in school, especially boys, helps lower incidents of ADHD, because little boys learn better when they are allowed to move a little bit.

My nephew is a little bit ADHD. His kindergarten teacher discovered the best solution: sit him beside quieter, more studious kids, instead other ADHD. And it worked...at least for school.

Now, I've laid hand son people before but for different reasons. My mom got attacked as a teenager by a creeper. She got away but is a little paranoid for the rest of her life. My dad was a police officer. He is trained to be paranoid and always know what is going on around him. Thus, I was raised with an ingrained paranoia and learned how to react. So, you know how some people will think it is funny to sneak up on you from behind. Well, when they do it to me, bad things happen. I have reacted rather harshly before. I have thrown people over my shoulders. I have grabbed them and had them laying on the ground ready to strike before I realized who they were. My boss' son did that to me once in a dark corner of a parking lot and got quite the beat down. It is pure reflexes which were honed to a razor edge in high school where I was in fights all the time. The look of shock on someone's face looking up at you after the joke has going horribly awry is hilarious.

So, you know how some people will think it is funny to sneak up on you from behind. Well, when they do it to me, bad things happen. I have reacted rather harshly before. I have thrown people over my shoulders. I have grabbed them and had them laying on the ground ready to strike before I realized who they were.

He's telling the truth. I saw him do that to his wife at Myrtle Beach. She was not amused.

I try to keep the total number of tabs so that I don't have to scroll left or right. It makes it easier to keep track of tabs, if I need more tabs, I open a new window.

I'm leaving that one alone.

Also, my co-workers are seriously questioning my sanity because I keep chuckling to myself.

Good night gentlemen...

I'm signing off for the night. If I'm asleep too long, don't hesitate to send me an email. I'd love to respond to them after I awake from my slumber.

By the way. P90X + 8 years of NO workouts + 4:30 am wake up call= suck + vomit in copious quantities

That is all. :closedeye

I passed the EIT. I guess that's somewhat of an accomplishment.

You never mentioned that you were working as a super model! Way to go, Paul! That P90X must really be worth it. :w00t:
