Sorry about the dead goat....never thought I'd say those words.

Missus Eagle picked up a bread maker at a yard sale for $3!!! These things cost like $80 and up at the stores. WooHoo! I'm off to buy some ingredients and give 'er a whirl. I'll be eating fresh baked bread tonight. All thanks to a B&B discussion about bread recipes. Got me thinking about these bread machines and the wifey did the rest. Yeah baby!

Oh yeah, I'll also be picking up some packaging material for next weeks shipments. Hold on boys. The process is begun. Later. Gotta go to the store.

When Bama was playing LSU like they played Tulane, I was afraid of upset, when it went to the half tied up, I know Bama has a tendency to fade in the 2nd half, but the past two weeks restored a bit of faith...I really hate holding calls - it happens every play, but is only called "conveniently"....anyway, LSU is a real good team, just like Ole Miss and Kentucky, records just don't show it. But an ugly win is still a win....:jump::jump::jump::jump::jump:

I had no idea what you were talking about, Jim. I do not follow American Football (I say football, not soccer).

Wow I'm exhausted. The neighbors came over tonight along with an aunt that was visiting. Full house tonight. The neighbors have two young kids (one of which shares my name), that are great, but a huge handful.

I love kids, but man, they can be tiring.

I completely agree. I used to love Macs, but really dislike the whole movement and massive consumerism and pretension that is associated with the brand these days. Additionally, Windows is just so much more compatible and for all its pitfalls, does allow the user quite a bit of freedoms. Not only is there a wonderfully huge list of software for Windows, but it allows me to tweak it however I want. I don't know about Vista, but I have come to really like XP. And I will admit that Windows 98 SE was one hell of an operating system. While I'm very capable on a Mac, I can't stand Mac OS now.

I dabbled in Linux a few years back, but got fed up with the incompatibilities and my inability to make my sound card work within the Linux environment. I think I was using FreeBSD, though I can't remember with certainty.

I'm actually looking to start dabbling in Linux again.

Take a look at Mepis, Sidux, and Kanotix for linux distros they are debian base, and are very good at hardware detection, although Ubuntu has a huge user base so finding help online may be easier with Ubuntu if you get stuck in a pickle

Just thought I'd throw this out there before bed tonight. I have a lot of fine shaving soaps and creams that I really like. But for quality and perfection nothing beats Tabac. This was my first soap purchased when I dove head first into DE shaving, and it was a heck of a soap to kick things off with. I've gotten away from using it lately as I dabble w/ other flavors and brands. I used it again tonight and suddenly remembered why I love it so. Tabac forgives a hasty technique or a blade that should have been thrown away one or two shaves ago. I have never gotten a subpar shave when using it. Germany, I salute you for giving the world Tabac.

A few of you are expecting packages, and I have every intention of getting them out tomorrow so you should have them by the end of the week. Barring any unforeseen issues consider this so.

Started watching season 1 of Dexter on Netflix VOD. Thanks for the heads up. I am totally engrossed after only two episodes. Maybe Showtime isn't the total POS I've always considered it to be. Think I'll go watch another one right now. Nighty night.

I was thinking earlier a few putz's have either been shown the door or departed on their own from B&B these past weeks. Alright guys... I posted this in the shaving cream forum, but I'm going to post it here too. I know between the TATers, we've tried a bunch of stuff and that we like quality.

So I'm getting my brother some real shaving cream and aftershave for Christmas. He won't have the patience to use a brush, so I was thinking of getting a cream that be used effectively with or without a brush.

There's one big problem - his skin is insanely sensitive. I assume he has bad technique, but he actually does have sensitive skin that is easily irritated. He needs to wash his clothes in 'Free' detergent otherwise he gets a rash.

So he uses Old Spice cologne and aftershave sometimes and also really likes Davidoff Cool Water and Burberry Britt.

So suggestions for creams and aftershave lotions/balms?

I was thinking Speick Cream and Aftershave Lotion, but I can't remember how Speick performs brushless. And I'm not sure if he'll like the scent. I don't like Old Spice and don't keep it around, so I'm not sure how similar Speick and Old Spice are.

Thanks, guys.

Dom, If at all possible, I would advise you to give him his gift a few days late. I see that you guys have a dozen Body Shop locations in your state. The week after Christmas they are bringing the old cream back into stores at only $7.00 a tub. That is a great deal!! I have never heard of anyone having a bad reaction to thier cream, and it is great brushless.

Hey Sol, I noticed over in the new world order thread that you seem to be a fellow believer. I have a series of books I picked up a couple years back that you might want to look into. The series seems to be widely known as the, "Left Behind" series. They are a fantastic read that is packed scriptural based events. Here is a link to the site.

When you click on the product list and then on the books, you have to scroll down to the bottom and work your way up. Highly recommended for a Christian man like yourself.................

Looks like it.

Hey Sol, I noticed over in the new world order thread that you seem to be a fellow believer. I have a series of books I picked up a couple years back that you might want to look into. The series seems to be widely known as the, "Left Behind" series. They are a fantastic read that is packed scriptural based events. Here is a link to the site.

http://www.leftbehind.com/

When you click on the product list and then on the books, you have to scroll down to the bottom and work your way up. Highly recommended for a Christian man like yourself.................

The Left Behind series are great, I haven't read all of them, but I do get "the short version" in discussions, really interesting, and great writing...but like I mentioned over there, we just have to be aware of the events and line them up Biblically, not the other way around....there I go again...

The Nancy Boy stuff is designed to be brushless, and they're generally pretty concerned about skin sensitivity. Their AS balm is effective, though it goes on a bit too thick for me. Still, if I was ordering the cream, I'd order the balm to complete the set. (Monopoly rules -- thou shalt always build evenly...).

+1 on the recommendation for Weeds. It's a fantastic show.

Everyone in the neighborhood seems to be running some sort of leaf blower this morning. Where were they this weekend? (And, why have they conspired to make my lawn look bad?!)

It's been a bad week to be an automobile in my care....
Friday eve started out to go to grocery store for cheese, car wouldn't start...uggh, put charger on it, showed a full charge, thought crap...I've already replaced the alternator on my Malibu (only to discover that wasn't the issue), now the Grand Am? Jumped in my father-in-law's car (because 'Bu isn't there), got the cheese, came home, tried again, just weird electrical stuff - push "unlock" button on remote, trunk popped open and left blinker came on! Cool for tricks, but PITA for reality. Anyway, turns out battery was bad, replaced free since it was under 2 years old - by 3 days! That story turned out good...but what about the '98 Malibu you ask?
Started out it died on me a couple times, once at bank drive-through, again at red light...battery? Nope, tested good. Alternator? Auto-Zone's tester said it could be the alt., and against my better judgement and experience, and for a couple of reasons, went ahead and replaced it. Seemed better, but then died again. Traded with my F-i-L, since he sells cars at the same lot his brother is a mechanic at, found out shortly after the good news of the battery, that the camshaft broke in the 'Bu....:frown:
Oh, and the lawnmower wouldn't crank...I'm scared to touch anything right now....

Is your dealership one of the west coast Subie dealers with a large online presence? I guess what I'm saying is, I need a rear wiper blade or two for an '06 Forester  I hate paying the local guy's markup -- I fared quite a bit better by having both my bug screen and my bike rack shipped from CA. Dom I think JM Frasers cream from Canada is pretty nondescript and easy on the face. Plus it can be used brushless. This is all hearsay however as I've never tried it.

At the risk of totally starting a pissing match and bitch fest by bringing up religion I watched the first movie in the series of those Left Behind books. I won't say a word about the books as I haven't read them, but the movie sucked big time. That Kirk Cameron couldn't act in that 80's comedy he was in and apparently still can't. If you liked it, sorry. We'll just have to disagree, and I'll shut up now.

No problem. It'll give me something to look forward to next week. I am curious. Will these samples be of a size where I need some smallish containers to hold them? I need to figure how I'm gonna arrange my cabinet.

Here I spent a small sum of money on several products and now I'm finding I wish to replace them w/ different fare. That's a bummer. Anyone having a hankerin to try Conk Amber or Pirates Cove coconut give me a PM for equal value trades--these are both roughly in the 3.5 oz range. Both are glycerin based, smell good and shave just fine. As mentioned previously however my whiskers require different formulas. The clay and tallow soaps simply work better for me. I'm only gonna post this offer here as it's not that big a deal. I can live with them if need be.

All of this was over 30 years ago, in the mid-70's. I had two friends who were best friends (of each other). One of them got married. The other one used to go over to the couple's home almost every morning for breakfast.

One morning, the wife was making them pancakes. They were arguing over the first pancake, not for it but that the other one would get it. The argument escalated and the married one ran to another room shouting, 'Ill get my gun!" He returned with a rifle and shot his best friend in the chest. He honestly thought the gun was not loaded. The bullet missed his friend's heart by less than an inch and everything else of major importance. The friend is still alive and the bullet is still in his back under a shoulderblade.

But, yes, people will do some extremely stupid stuff when they get mad at each other.

okay folks, it takes a lot to get me riled up angry; yeah, I "can" have a short temper, little things can cause me to have a short vent, it's not a pleasant sight and I really desire not to do so, but it's a brief vent and all is well, for example, this weeks car problems, a quick "$^#*@&#^$", probably abuse my punching bag, a minute later all is fine. But there are some things that just bring me to a point of wanting to rip someone's brain out through their sphincter. Our babysitter, she picks our kids up in the afternoon until me, my wife, or my mom, can pick them up, just called and said that she won't be able to get them today...no, that's not the angry part, just adjust my day and go. It's the reason - someone broke into her daughter's apartment, while she was home, last night . . .@&#&^$ $&$*# #&$&*$ #&*$&# #&#(*# #&#&*$)#)_#*$!!!!!!

Sorry, had to vent....now I need to go get fingerprints, find an address, and unless a thousand pissed off badgers....

I'm sure her dad already has, but you never know the situation.
Such an event was one of the main reasons I started a martial arts "class" in college, several young ladies were attacked while walking at the track. We mainly got together, had a good time, but myself and another fellow taught mostly basic and some advanced, but simple, self-defense strategies. It was kind of an "Anything" martial arts meeting, come to think of it, both in MA style, and discussion - it was always fun when a particular lady showed up, topics frequently went to her boobs...might as well, most eyes were already there, but she learned alot, knowing that just that physical attribute could make here a target.
One young lady, skinny, most timid person there gave us the biggest laugh once. I had made friends with a couple of the campus security guys from HSU across the street, and had them come and do a class. These guys frequently do this, and have more "street" experience dealing with what the girls might face there at college. I'd already taught some basic shirt-hold escapes, so one of the guys grabs her shirt front, says get away...she half-heartedly leaned one way, kinda threw a block - again, very timid girl, didnt' try very hard, the guy said, okay, somebody has you, you're about to get raped in 3,2, **POW**! she just hauled off and punched him in the face....we were all roaring laughing, she had this look of a puppy that just peed on the couch....but he let go!
you'd had to have been there, I reckon

some days it's just not worth it to live in the U.S....I know, one of the worst things to say on this day, but dang,piss-poor legal system, lack of ethics and morality, continuing loss of individual's feeling of responsibility and accountability....uggh.

I love the U.S. Can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be (and I did research when I was afraid Gore might get elected, seriously). But as a society, we're losing a grip on reality. Public school more interested in getting the numbers they need (enrollment, test scores, etc.) not entirely on teaching (NOT a reflection on the wonderful teachers and staff at schools, but on the "higher ups"). Justice Legal system slapping criminals on the wrist instead of punishment fitting crime (again, not a reflection on the wonderful men & women who perform the duties, but on the system implemented).
I know no system is going to be perfect, and what we have has the ability to work, until you get people involved, with hidden agendas and personal goals instead of the betterment of all.
Sorry for the downer of a post, just reflecting on today's news and events personal to me, and pondering. Just frustrating to know that if this person were to get caught, he'd probably get a little "now you go and be good, don't let it happen again" speech....yeah.
I know there's a lot of other variables involved in these things, but I just.....
need to stop there.

Wow. High drama in TAT today. However nobody addressed Ryan's stinky feet. Take a bath dude! Sorry to hear about your friends probs. Jim. As I've mentioned I suffered a break in about a year ago and had several thousand dollars in losses and damage. The worst part is that helpless, nothing feeling you get; quickly followed by seething rage at the punk ass wastes of life who hit you. Truthfully I'm a firm believer in karma, fate, what goes around, comes around. Whatever you want to call it. I've seen it at work too many times for it not to be a real force in nature. Essentially nobody gets away with anything in this little dance of ours. You always pay. Whether it be now, next year or twenty years. It always gets you. Thankfully good deeds are rewarded as well. Maybe not in the manner you wished or thought but positive out, positive in. This philosophy helps when injustices occur.

For what it's worth Rolls many in LE consider ZT marijuana arrests to be bogus and a waste of time as well. "I've heard" of many agencies/officers who just let it slide.

Dom I hope you're feeling better and return to Bean town safe and healthy. We've kind of missed your regular presence around here.

It just seems this is moving in the complete wrong direction for the economic and energy crisis times we live in. The Japenese gave the world the 40 mpg car back in the day. Shouldn't they be looking to modern versions of that technology instead of this thing? I'm no expert, but I just don't see this thing moving off the lots in droves.

I agree that it's ugly. As for the mileage, you've got to envision a target audience of $30k-spending SUV-abandoning suburbanites. Compared to the 12/16 they've been getting, this thing is downright Prius-like. That, and you can still bring crap from Ikea home in it! Sadly, it'll sell. Especially if Toyota sticks a hybrid badge on the back. I'm afraid that we're now squarely in the age of the "crossover," whatever that is...

You said a mouthful there. That Ikea sure is crap isn't it.

"Hey Sven. Let's build uncomfortable, flimsy furniture out of twigs and aluminum and sell it to yuppies."

Nice burnwooding in the above post...

As for Ikea, I feel as though I gave them a fair shot. I've walked through their store half-a-dozen or so times over the past few years. I've only purchased, in total, a cinnamon roll and a giant roll of foam packing material. I have no plans to return (though that cinnamon roll was tasty...). (YMMV.)

I wear a sombrero on a daily basis and I carry a bottle of tequila in my pocket at all times. Honestly, if I ever saw one of those goobers actually attempting to wear a sombrero in a serious manner, I would probably need to walk off quickly before making a snide remark.

Vanilla ice cream on a grilled cheese sandwich!! Divine!!!!!!
you've mentioned that before, but I just can't bring myself to do it...
and speaking of grilled cheese, here's my method:
large cast iron skillet, on high for about 1 minute, then large dollop of butter (sometimes olive oil if I feel like healthier)
once it's good and melted, I take a piece of bread, butter it real good on both sides, drop in the skillet, slide it around skillet to evenly spread out the butter and sop up and extra butter, flip, do same, remove bread, make sandwhiches as usual....oh, and eat first piece of bread - that, my friend, is divine! no toast can hold a candle that baby!
anyone ever tried using mayonnaise instead of butter for a grilled cheese? I read about it somewhere, thought that's crazy, but tried it...not bad at all, I think I A) skimped too much on the mayo, and B) heated it too long, but it was not bad, prefer butter, but it's an alternative
