The guy kind of got hosed because of a miscommunication. Ticks me off a little. We deal with stupid people every day that just want something for free or want attention. Once in a while, you get a real one like this and they don't work with him. It is hard to remember sometimes that not every =one is a dick and trying to play the system. There has to be leniency because nothing is ever black and white. I think I got him taken care of though. I was able to get some wheel turning just before leaving, so I didn't see the end results but I am fairly confident that it he was on the right path finally.
The ironic thing is, this guy is slightly irritated with us, and I am part of the system. So I doubt he really understands what I had to go through for him. On the other hand, I had to go to some higher pay grades and essentially make them do me a favour. So, I am just irritating them, too. As Rob can attest, that is the joy of doing a job that always makes you the bad guy. :thumbup1:

you ever watch stock car racing, ie NASCAR?
you know when 3 cars are fairly equal, but car in 2nd pulls up beside car in 1st (Jay and Rob), and they race, but the aerodynamics of two cars side by side in an exciting battle for the lead makes both cars slower, and their attention on each other, ignoring the suddenly much faster car in 3rd (Blake) about to blow by both of them, rendering their little battle pointless?

You know what is funny, I have been through many tornadoes and within sight of several. Yet, I have never been able to see one. I want to so bad. It would be like a dream come true to be able to photograph one someday. Most of the ones I didn't get to see were because Mum was scared and drug me into hiding. I told Dad to save on shipping and wait until we knew #23 was good, so sorry about that. My apologies to the mailman.
No, only #23 is mentholated (a nice spearmint/peppermint mix, but not very strong); #21 is the citrus/bay rum that I like enough to lobby for it to be a production scent. The formulations are different. #22 was a small departure in formula but underperformed #21 and #23 by enough of a margin that it's not worth sending out, in my opinion. Plus, it's unscented, so no need for the test noses to have a go at it.

I was working in the garage, when one of the heavy totes slid and the corner ended up on top of my right foot. The top of my foot has a bump about the size of a egg and it's hard. I've been icing it. That puts a cramp in my style. :mad3:

Whatever, man. Vampires are all the rage these days...ala Edward. Of course, everyone knows that Jacob's better.
Thankfully, my wife has just about fallen out of the Twilight thing, and turned to something more sinister.

The first to deny is usually the one who did it.
Mrs. Soapbox went to go see it last night with her friends. <sigh> I was a Twilight widower for the evening...
I feel your pain.
Also, GMS #21 and #23 pucks are going out to the B&B test committee today or tomorrow. I shaved with #23 this morning and was seriously impressed. I'm expecting good reports from the committee. Bonus: a nice menthol tingle! :thumbup1:
:thumbup::thumbup1::thumbup: I'm really looking forward to #21!
Looks like the GMS shave soaps are all going out today. Some of you (not Rob) will have 'em by the weekend.

BTW, I was a little disappointed in my antiquing results today. I finally found a place with some, right before they closed. It is huge! I may be willing to drive to Toledo again just to shop.
What I did get:
A cased Y-2 Super Speed
A beautiful gold Tech with only a little plating loss on the top
A Bakelite Type E Injector
I plan on getting rid of the Type E. I don't remember at the moment, but I thought someone on the list wanted one or wanted any injector. If so, let me know. I haven't decided about the Tech. I am going to see how it compares to the ones I have already. But, no one on the list asked for that.Who knows, I may purge a SS too.
Here is the real exciting part. As they started turning out the lights on us, I found the case. You know what I mean. Every Mall has that one vendor that has multiple razors. Plus, it was getting strangely dark in there. :001_rolle But, to one side, there was that electric razor with a Gillette New head on it that Rich post , was it yesterday. He was asking $52 for that. Commence miniature roll...
:thumbup1:
Indeed!
Yeah, it's know fun talking when you have know room to do it... ya no?
Whatever, man. Vampires are all the rage these days...ala Edward. Of course, everyone knows that Jacob's better.
:lol::lol::lol:
Don't you hate that? I had to set my alarm extra early today, because two nights ago I was up until three, and woke up too late to shave. Today wasn't much better, though, since I was up until two last night.
Know I don't no what you mean!
Oh, I don't think I ever congratulated Rob on his new position as top poster...

Thank you, thank you! But unlike the last time that proclamation was made I won't keep my ground troops in Iraq for years to come.
As importantly, has anyone arranged for a 24-hour watch for Ouch and taken away any sharp objects?
Are you kidding Jay could care less.
Are you suggesting we stage some sort of intervention? Furthermore, is this watch for Ouch's protection, or Rob's?

Once upon a time, I helped a faculty member fix an iTunes problem that to me was fairly obvious but to him was really vexing. Upon seeing my proposal, he said "I thought I needed a nuke, but it turns out I only needed a stiletto."
Between Ouch and Rob, I'm not sure if the nuke or the stiletto would win. Actually...I think Jay would win, because Rob might try to fight fair...:001_cool:
Who me fair? No way. I'm a little guy we always fight dirty. That and I'm a career cop. Our idea of fair is at least 4:1 in our favor.
you ever watch stock car racing, ie NASCAR?
you know when 3 cars are fairly equal, but car in 2nd pulls up beside car in 1st (Jay and Rob), and they race, but the aerodynamics of two cars side by side in an exciting battle for the lead makes both cars slower, and their attention on each other, ignoring the suddenly much faster car in 3rd (Blake) about to blow by both of them, rendering their little battle pointless?

I thought that only worked with Diet Soda?
It'll work (to varying degrees) with any carbonated beverage. You get more or less of a reaction depending on how carbonated the beverage is. The reaction is not chemical (a + b ---> c), but rather physical... the rough surface of the mentos provide a nucleation site for the carbon dioxide gas to be drawn out of solution, form bubbles, and then escape. In case you don't have any mentos, it also works with table salt and a buncha other things. :smartass:

Also possibly Vernor's Ginger Ale.

As I understand it, that's not quite the case. Sugar seems to block the physics somewhat while fake sugar seems to act as a catalyst.

:Edit:
A 2006 episode of the television show MythBusters[9] concluded that the caffeine, potassium benzoate, aspartame, and CO2 gas contained in the Diet Coke, in combination with the gelatin and gum arabic ingredients of the Mentos, all contribute to the jet effect.[10] In addition, MythBusters theorized that the physical structure of the Mentos is the most significant cause of the eruption due to nucleation. Mythbusters reported that when flavored Mentos with a smooth waxy coating were tested in carbonated drink there was hardly a reaction

:smartass:
Interesting I thought the biggest catalyst was artificial sweeteners thus making it a chemical reaction?

But, remember, catalysts only facilitate a reaction, they do not participate in it (ie: they don't react). So, IIRC, it can still be a physical reaction with a catalyst, especially when you're dealing with a solution or aqueous environment.

I was in an antique store in Medows of Dan, VA, this afternoon. I saw a Belgium-made OS mug that came with never before uses OS shave soap. This was the first time I have ever seen, or smelled the elusive soap. I offered the owner $20 for it (it came with the beat up original box, and the little plastic lid), and he turned it down. In other news today......
He said he paid a 'premium price' for the mug just so he could include it with this giant vanity that he was selling as a shaving stand. :001_rolle
So he put it in his store so that he could not sell it?
You'd feel pretty crappy too, if you got dressed in the wrong..... Ah, never mind. I forgot whom I was talking to.

Ok, ok, I admit,... more than once.

Apparently so. I was very polite and kept my mouth shut until getting in the car. Then I looked at my wife, and said, "Good luck". I could probably go in there three years from now and it will still be there.

Three. I believe the answer is three.

But, remember, catalysts only facilitate a reaction, they do not participate in it (ie: they don't react). So, IIRC, it can still be a physical reaction with a catalyst, especially when you're dealing with a solution or aqueous environment.

Why yes, yes it is. But, no over priced, but matching, OS mug to go with it.

The truth hurts, but I don't deny it. I'm a many-times over nerd and geek. Hell, I'm a nerd polymath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymath). I took the nerd test and wrecked the curve. Need proof?

I'm just a Bieglow, and everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playin'.
Pay for every cream, sellin' all my dreams,
I ain't got no savin's?
There will come a day, when money will pass away,
how will I shave me?
When the end comes I know, I'm still a boy of Bigelow
B&B goes on without me.
'Coz I... Ain't got no shave soap!
No shave soap to shave me, there's
No shave soap to shave me!
I'm so sad and in need of a shave!
Won't some sweet B&B member send me some shave soap, please?
Cause I have a bad shave.
Why yes, yes it is. But, no over priced, but matching, OS mug to go with it.
With the soap?
