Well, my day got off to a great start. My car's a little thinner thanks to an orange construction barrel that decided to lop off my passenger side view mirror. :mad3:

Interesting, I'll have to read that here in a few.

Jesse, keep the pics coming! That was a great one. If I look closely, I think I can see the beginnings of a beard.

I ordered 2 over the weekend, and am waiting on the arrival of the package. :w00t: My wife has been hounding me for a Sandalwood and Rose AS's. They had the most affordable, and I know they are a vendor, not to mention highly spoken of here.

I dig sandalwood scent, and so does Mrs. Soapbox. Trouble is, Sandalwood is expensive. I look forward to your evaluation of the scent.

Ooo! ooo! Which ones? I am curious about a few that have been mentioned on the board. Pictures please?

Sandpaper AS, refreshing as the Gulag on a winter morning.

Uncle Joe's AS: wear it if you dare, bourgeoisie puppet.

I stubbed my toe working in the garage today. :thumbdown It hurt like *&^(#@.

Seems unfortunate to have to work in your garage wearing those steel-toed boots, but I bet it becomes more popular. Hope a cold beer solved the problem!

But is it a ban-hammer? (Or a banana hammock?)

:thumbup1:

 What, no steel boots?

No, that's next on your shopping list! :biggrin1:

Not bad, at least in the bottle. The only one I've used thus far is the "Marcury" -- a whole lotta' fern on the dry down, with plenty of longevity (a little goes a long way on that one, I'd say).

Let's see... Marcury, For Men, Player, Tabacus, and Arbat. I'll have to work on pics -- no clue where my wife hid the camera!

You, on the other hand, are doing some nice camera work! Glad he's sleeping well for y'all.

I tend to try to avoid the power pills, as well. Too much worry about addiction. Advil's good stuff, though I've had a couple of different doctors recommend aleve instead. I bought a bottle, but thankfully haven't needed it lately!

I am very excited! I have been wanting a windshield for my motorcycle and perhaps a fairing. But, money was no option since I have none. Well, today there was a town wide garage sale in my hometown, where my parents still live. At the first one we went to I found a fairing that would work. He had a windshield for it too. It is primer black right now so I need to paint it. But, I only paid $12 for it! :w00t:

I went over to Burlington today to visit JR's for some more pipe tobacco, and decided to hit the two Antique malls while I was there, and I had a productive run of sorts.

First, I found for $1 an OS Green lantern decanter that I plan to use to decant my Ivy Club Spice into. It needs some clean up, but is in excellent condition and should serve me well for a long time.

The best deal was at the second antique mall. They still had a Flare Tip in a case for $45 and a barely red tipped Red Tip for $35. On the way out of the store, I forgot about one aisle that I hadn't hit. Time as I walked down, I spied a Schick Injector (cream colored handle with a gold head. The head has 'Schick Safety Razor' on the back with a crown underneath.) It came with the case with an empty injector pack. It also needs some clean up, but all is in excellent condition. Oh, and it was all just for $3.50.

a tragedy never becomes funny...but then, there's always the folks that come up with jokes for events as soon as they happen. I still can recall all the "woman driver" "jokes" from the Challenger explosion, almost even before the reality of it sank in

Yeah, I got that too. He told me he had a windshield that needed cut down to fit. Turns out, it was the right windshield, he just planned on cutting it down for a low-profile style. I want a full windshield, so it's perfect!

I had a cased Type L at one point. I didn't think I was going to collect, so I listed it on the BST. Several months after I had given up and was a collector, I got a PM asking if that was still for sale. I agreed to sell it to him and have kicked myself ever since. I'd imagine that lawns are tough to grow on Mars.

Martian summers are twice as long as Terran summers. Plus, if one is near the Grand Canal, the lawns are rather lush. (BTW, notice the nifty use of majuscules there? I added a new vocabule to my vocabulary! )

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have had a wonderful four nights off work. I have done nothing important, but had a great time and did some interesting things. I don't know if I mentioned golf yesterday. DrBob, Skklog, Mrs. Blackfoot and I played. We only played a few holes as it was late and, yes, I sucked. But, it was a blast and I think I have yet another expensive hobby to add to my list. But, now the bullet proof vest is back on. That is when the full reality of returning to work always hits me. If it wasn't raining, I would be a little excited since I could ride the bike to work and show the guys my fairing. But, alas, it will rain into Wednesday. But, I do feel refreshed and ready, somewhat, to return to duty. I think you need a little time like this weekend to reboot now and then. :thumbup1:

Morning all.

Mornin' Chad!

Picked up a new Weber kettle grill yesterday. Steak + potatoes + wine + fire = good.

Odd -- me too. Got a Genesis E-320 grill a week ago, and despite the box looking like it came from China via an angry pack mule and then packed into a container ship by the American Tourister Gorilla (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2ZeIoLz8FE), it assembled without much difficulty and I just got a propane tank for it.

Saw the pics on Facebook -- (and above in this thread) -- very nice!

I wish more companies would play nice with Tux. He's a good guy. :glare:

Either you're awesome or you're sucking up to Rich, and either deserves applause. :a14: (yes, I suppose you could be doing both, but anyway).

Say what you will about skklog. I still say that anyone who can quote Darkwing Duck has some redeeming quality. :001_tt2:

Yay, Kristina!

(My mother in law is in town and she's a great cook, so this statement of approval is in no way relevant to my mother in law).

Ba-dum-ching! Try the...oh, nevermind.

Well, SBJr spent a few days and nights in a UV crib at the hospital because of his jaundice, but he came home yesterday and has been a chill little guy. He eats, he sleeps six hours or so during the night(!!) and he's doing great.

It's funny how you can catch the little ones trying out their face muscles and getting interesting results.

Anyway, my life remains a bit topsy-turvy. My grandfather (not the husband of my recently deceased grandmother, but my mother's father) got a pacemaker on Monday, a day after his 97th birthday. I need to call him and make a few "how long is the warranty" jokes! I had a broken tooth finally start to crumble yesterday, just before my annual review.

Oh, and after waiting five or so days after SBJr was born, I celebrated his birth with a nice straight razor shave to mow the almost-a-week-beard. I'm still not very good with the Puma, but it's my best razor and it's my fault for the razor burn on my neck. For now, I'm back to my Mergress and Feathers, but several of my friends really straight shave every day -- wow.

In all, things are good. And my daughter -- who is a month shy of being two years old -- used "instead" correctly in a sentence (twice!) yesterday, not long before singing the entire "ABC" song correctly. Her language skills are fun; it's hard to remember she's just entering the "terrible twos!" (plus, she apparently likes Jeff Healey):

I did, more so than I realized. I was getting a little burnt out. I had a three day weekend last weekend. But, those of you that have worked nights knows that one night off is not a day off. You need more time than a day shifter to get the same R&R in. So, four days with nothing to do really, was a God send.

I haven't been there since I was a kid. I remember I loved it but not a lot of details. Now, I have been to the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum in Dayton, OH several times and it is a great one too. I might have to go back.

Here is an amusing anecdote regarding my visit to the Smithsonian. We had a family vacation to D.C. On this trip, my mum got a really bad ear infection that she caught from me. I don't remember what it was, but the doctor she had to go see said adults didn't get it often. I found it slightly amusing since mum and dad thought I was exaggerating and I didn't go to the doctor. I remember it was the worst earache ever! On the other hand, I felt very guilty that mom got it from me. Strange the things you remember.

Anyhow, back to the real story. Mum had to stay in bed and Dad and I went to the Science and Industry, mom's least favourite. This was kind of a special day for me because I didn't spend a lot of one on one time with my dad like this. Especially not a whole day. Plus, we had a mutual interest in this. Who knows, maybe it was my idolizing dad. I digress, I like to ramble. Here is the point. Dad and I were walking up to an old piece of farm machinery. Dad said, "Look at that old cotton picker!" We approached it to see what it was. Turns out, it was an old cotton picker! Dad I laughed and laughed. We told mum about it when we got back and she wasn't near as amused. She gave the same look you guys probably are right now. Dad and I still laugh about that.

The pictures of little Soapbox (v. 1.0), scared me into picking up the guitar tonight. It was sweet. but, I still suck at playing.

Currently working on the intro to "Wonderful Tonight" (just about perfected) and the intro to "Proud Mary" (F chords are a female dog).

Also started to begin to pick up a little Link-inventor of the power chord-Wray (Rawhide (not the tv show)).

We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

That's one of the few things I did deliberately while living in DC -- made time, with relatives, to go see the Udvar-Hazy museum. I'm from Huntsville, Alabama (with the world's largest space museum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Space_&_Rocket_Center)), and I'm a space nerd already; so seeing the Udvar-Hazy museum (and, of course, the rotating exhibits at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum) was de rigeur.

It turned out to be way prettier than I thought it would be from the eBay pics...

You got to see Peter Wolf? That's awesome! I still have my cassette of Come As You Are. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_as_You_Are_%28album%29).

Yep, I saw him down at St. Andrew's Hall. It's a pretty small venue, but therein lies the appeal. Not that there's anything wrong with larger venues. I grew up not too awful far from Pine Knob (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTE_Energy_Music_Theatre) and have been to more than my fair share of concerts there. :001_cool:

That sums it up pretty well, actually.

Exactly.

I tried out the SCS Rose AS last night, nice! :thumbup1: I really wasn't sure how I would like something like that, and I mainly got it to make my wife happy. I'm impressed. I tried out the soap sample they sent out with it, and it was very good as well.

OK, let me try to get caught up here:

Either you're awesome or you're sucking up to Rich, and either deserves applause. :a14: (yes, I suppose you could be doing both, but anyway).

To answer your question, I am awesome. I am, in fact, a Linux user by force. And I mean by force. I really hated it at first, but only because it is different. Now I like it better than windows, but really wish more companies would take Linux into consideration when developing their software.

And both little Soapboxes are so adorable! Nice pictures!

+1

Awesome that you got the time off. And I am told constantly that I ramble. I get to the end of a story and realize it had no point. Like that one time at camp when our door got stolen.

How 'bout now? :001_tt2:

OK, I think that about does it. I guess I ought to go do a load of laundry or something and get back to sewing. I've done 2 skirts and a top for me, and 2 bow ties for Mr. Crafty, which he loves.

:w00t: Awesome! I like the way you think. Er, except that I chose Linux in about 2001 to solve some ugly problems that Windows wasn't able to do.

And, I swear we didn't do this intentionally -- but it appears that SBJr already likes camouflage. He's starting with "Playskool Camo" and I assume he'll work up from there.

Mrs. Soapbox and her sisters, when they ramble and realize it, usually wrap things up with a random "and then I found five dollars. The End."

If he hadn't squeaked because he was hungry...well, it might have been a bad night. Also, I haven't found the cute box of "baby's first blasting caps" and "baby's first cap crimpers", and I'm a little worried.

They sell it in the Avon line in Asia still.
I think it's a great scent, especially for the price.*

My friends, I covet your prayers and thoughts: My daughter's best friend was kicked/stepped on the head while feeding their horses yesterday evening. She was airlifted to Little Rock Children's Hospital in an induced coma. Don't know much else at this time other than skull fractures, but a large powerful horse to a 9 year old's head is not good.

Thank you
