Well I don't know about fighting off, Massasaugas aren't known for being aggressive. They're pretty docile as rattlesnakes go.
So are Copperheads, in my experience, but it makes for a fun story.
I have finally started my own Facebook page. It irritated me a little. It never asked for a user name. So, it goes on my real name. :thumbdown

Not that I'm aware of. The only nearby courses that have seen any action on the PGA tour are Warwick Hills and Oakland Hills. The Indianwood Golf and Country Club has also hosted a few LPGA events in recent history too, but other than that nothing else comes to mind.
What wimps! The game would be much more fun to watch if they had to swing their clubs with one hand while fighting off rattlesnakes with the other.

was mowing and doing general yard work Saturday evening, had to cut down some branches that broke during the snow and ice a few weeks ago, drug them across the yard, and commenced to cutting them smaller and removing smaller branches and throwing them onto a pile to dry and burn later.
One particular piece didn't have a lot of smaller branches to cut off, was pretty good sized, but I only had to throw it a few feet....
one acute, excruciating sharp pain later and yard work was done for the day week
I figured either torn or badly pulled muscles

Soapbox junior (note: not his real name ) is officially due the 10th, and the doc changed her mind about inducing early, so we're waiting. Mrs. Soapbox is eating pineapple, hot food, and all the other old wives' tales about starting labor. She's been "measuring" 40 weeks for two weeks now.
You know, one in particular worked for my wife and me. It's not gentlemanly to say which one, but that alone should give you the idea. Not 24 hours later, and one week ahead of schedule, our son came into the world just in time to keep me from beginning the summer conference season in housing. What a blessing! His birthday is May 11, by the way.
Congrats again on your boy, and here's to hoping he is every bit as (begin Muhammed Ali voice) joyful, witty, smart, and pretty (/muhammed ali) as his daddy.

Got mine, too. It smells like pine and earth. I would suggest it's a bit close to Blenheim Bouquet.
Lathers at least as well as my Tabac (don't tell the Tabacheads) and shaves really smoothly. My face feels great this morning (I've used it two mornings in a row), and I paired it with some BB EdT, so I smell lovely, too.

In other news, it looks like we're going to have a "circle of life" moment in the next few days. My grandmother, who is a three time cancer survivor and who has been suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's for five years or so, can no longer keep food down and is probably going to die very soon from colon/bowel cancer and, of course, the brain disease. So my baby boy enters the world, and my mostly-absent grandmother leaves it: a life well-lived, and all the potential of a new life to follow it. Poetic, sad, joyful...

On the one hand, there's not much left of the person that is/was my grandmother; I've been missing her for several years in that regard, so I've said a slow goodbye for a while. On the other, we all get to be upset and sad when someone we love dies. But she's well over 90, and it's her time to go. I suppose it's been her time to go for a couple of years, and I'm okay with that. I'm glad she got to meet my daughter.
I'm also hopeful a great-grandson will buoy up my grandfather--he's going to be lonely after nearly 69 years of marriage.
Meanwhile, I'll be covered in a cocktail of spit-up and (occasionally) pee for a while, without much time to mourn, and trying to keep my nearly-two-year-old from watching too much Dora the Explorer or coloring on the walls (or driving daddy's pitons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piton) into the kitchen cabinets so she can climb to the cookies). That, too, is sort of the circle of life.
Perhaps my boy will like the piano; his great-grandmother studied organ at Juilliard.

that may very well be possible. Our daughter was the first grandchild of either of our parents, and she grew up loving elephants for some reason (and NO, I didn't force her to be a Crimson Tide fan), and after my mother-in-law passed, my wife mentioned that my girl may have gotten her love of elephants from my MIL, so you never know.

My sincere condolences. We went through a similar experience with my grandfather, who passed away in January after a very lengthy affliction with alzheimer's. It was very sad, yes, but it was mostly a relief. We had all said our good-byes in one way or another over the course of the past several years.

My Grandma had a massive stroke shortly before my youngest son was born, and passed away shortly afterward. We have pictures of her holding him when he was about a month old, with the rest of the family gathered around her bed, just a few weeks before her death. She didn't know too much of what was going on around her at the time, but I do believe wholeheartedly that she knew she was holding her grandson...

So my baby boy enters the world, and my mostly-absent grandmother leaves it: a life well-lived, and all the potential of a new life to follow it. Poetic, sad, joyful...
It is indeed amazing how life can be tragic and fantastic all at the same time. I lost my Grandmother in February. She was without doubt the cornerstone of our family. A matriarch in every sense of the word. Congrats on the soon to be arrival of another little soapbox and you have my best wishes and prayers for your Grandmother and the rest of the family as you all deal with this rough time.
Prayers for her and the family.

My sincere condolences. We went through a similar experience with my grandfather, who passed away in January after a very lengthy affliction with alzheimer's. It was very sad, yes, but it was mostly a relief. We had all said our good-byes in one way or another over the course of the past several years.

What else is there to do in Indiana?
Make babies!!
Drive to Illinois to go to the bars!
Why? No real difference between Indy, IL or OH.
Exactly my point! Indiana is boring. :001_tt2:
At least Indy doesn't have dank, funky Detroit in it!
You gents need to visit the Great State of New Jersey.
Ah, yes.. The Garbage State.:lol: I've been through training in Jersey on several occasions. Each subsequent trip just confirms my feeling that Jersey is really just New Yorks armpit.
Well gents, I'm off to tackle other issues. Thanks for the fuel.

Honestly, I've never have been able to figure out why Michigan Lefts are much maligned by out-of-staters. They really do seem to help the flow of traffic. Besides, they're hardly the worst thing Michigan roads have to offer. Go drive US-41 up in Houghton some time. We have something so special up there that it has it's own name: The Yooper Loop. Why??? Because NO ONE expects it. While they do serve their purpose, especially during the heavy tourist season, who would even think to go past an intersection to make a U-turn in a designated location and then turn right, or turn right to make a U-turn and go straight. By the time they get to where they want to make a left, they have already passed the sign and after going through the intersection they are looking for a parking lot to turn around in, because in MOST states it is illegal to make a U-turn at a traffic light.

Oh no, you didn't upset me. I was just telling you why some people have a problem with the Michigan Left. When I said NO ONE, I, of course, meant no one who has ever seen such a thing before.
In Traverse City, if you take a tall ship cruise, in order to simply cross the street from where you pay to where you board, the van will leave the parking lot turning to the right, then turn left into another parking lot, turn right back on the road and finally turn right into the parking lot across the street. Sort of a modified Michigan Left.

My grandfather (the last living grandparent my wife and I had, and the greatest man who ever lived) passed away while I was sitting in line one dark, chilly January morning to sign Miles up for a daycare center. Four months later, when he was born, we were still torn on what his middle name would be, so we used Thomas, which was my grandfather's middle name.
I'm very sorry about your grandmother, and while we're all old enough by now to understand and rationalize the sense of loss associated with the death of a loved one, it is still okay to be sad and hurt and grieve. Our thoughts will be with your family.
Looking forward to having you guys back in town soon, and bring the family this time. Your daughter and Miles are just about the same age, and we have a big fenced-in backyard, a smoker, a huge deck, and lots of cold beer.

Yeah, except for a very few oddball doodads and some notably high-profile exceptions (nVidia graphics cards and a few wireless chipsets), open-source drivers are available for dang near everything now. And the nVidia drivers rock, they're just not open-source.
