Well, last night was the Captain's last night. He is now on vacation. Ironically, Lt. is going on vacation this weekend. That means the shift is mine for over a week. Plus, one officer transferred and has not been replaced. Therefore, I am in charge with only half a crew. :thumbdown Unlike the rest of management, I have been proactive and have Emails out looking for officers to fill the open slots. I am already having fun and I wasn't even in charge yet.

Congrats on the temporary promotion. Sounds like a taxing responsibility. You better get some sleep.

I have a few things to get done before bedtime.

There was a man brought in tonight that was convicted of murder that day. Therefore, he had not been transferred over to DOC custody yet. A county officer was accompanying the man. He was placed in room and the officer went in and sat in the chair. We got called up by concerned nurses. This officer was sleeping in there. We ended up standing by the rest of the morning since the officer was not doing his job. Had it been a matter of a criminal getting away, I wouldn't care. He should be doing his job. However, a convicted murderer is a different story. I walked up and notice two things straight off. 1) Patient only has leg shackles on. 2) Sleeping officer sitting with chair almost against the left side of the bed. 3) Officer is right-handed. For those of you playing along at home, you may notice this puts the sleeping officer's sidearm a foot from the patient's left hand. We demanded the officer at least handcuff one arm and stood by. A short time later, the officer was asleep again. The patient even commented to the nurse that he couldn't sleep because of the officer's snoring! I never got up the nerve to ask, but I am guessing he was a reserve officer.

I suggested to the nursing staff, but I am not going over my Captain's head on that. There is a professional courtesy. We may not be cops, but cops show us the same courtesy and we try to reciprocate. However, IMHO, this was beyond that. He should be reported. Insane isn't it? I honestly only log 60-90 minutes per day on B&B and that includes 'moderator' time when I'm doing other more official things. As I hit 20K I was thinking about the value of those posts. I realized that I do occasionally participate in the photo number tag, photo number tag transportation threads and I'm a regular in about 5 others here in the CH but if only 5-6 posts a day are coming by way of the nut house I'm actually doing a pretty good job of keeping my focus on the board. Gentleman,

As you all know the Clown House has been a source of great fun, shenanigans and silly games that simply do not fit anywhere else on the forum. Unfortunately the Clown House has also been the source of far too many reported posts and requires much heavier moderation than should be expected on a gentlemen's forum.
Today we (the Mod team) along with the blessing of the site ownership have voted to retire the Clown House permanently. While it has had its upside and to many has served as a home within their B&B home it is simply too taxing, too difficult and too time consuming to properly moderate.
We ask that everyone respect/support this decision and know that we have not made this decision lightly. It was only after much debate and deliberation that we reached the conclusion that the Clown House simply had to go. Please continue posting throughout the B&B and we ask that you focus on meaningful posts that contribute to the overall greatness that is the B&B.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Can we at least have some of the threads back even if they are locked, such as "linux mint"? There's a lot of good technical info in there that we'd hate to loose. Or, if not in the main boards, can it be merged into the "Shaved Penguins" social group?

Can we at least have some of the threads back even if they are locked, such as "linux mint"? There's a lot of good technical info in there that we'd hate to loose. Or, if not in the main boards, can it be merged into the "Shaved Penguins" social group?

Mint is occasionally silly (though, I would argue, far less so at present than in the past), but given that we see computer-relevant threads from time to time, might it make sense to add a "Digital" subforum to the Barber Shop?

Also a good day to consider contributing financially to the board: all that content isn't cost-less to move through the Intertubes. I'm due to re-up my annual membership pretty soon, and I'll be doing so.

Clown Housers, who probably use more of the board's resources than most, should especially consider contributing. (bonus: makes you look more respectable).

Someone stole all my credit cards, but I won't be reporting it. The thief spends less than my wife did.

I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back.

I asked my wife, "Where do you want to go for our anniversary?" She said, "Somewhere I have never been!" I told her, "How about the kitchen?"

We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

My wife has a black belt in shopping.

My wife will buy anything marked down. Last year she bought an escalator.

All my wife does is shop - once she was sick for a week, and three stores went under.

She has an electric blender, electric toaster, electric bread maker. Then she said, "There are too many gadgets, and no place to sit down! So what did I do? Bought her an electric chair.

My wife loves to shop at Bloomingdale's. I bring her mail there twice a week.

My wife and I went back to the hotel where we spent our wedding night. Only this time, I stayed in the bathroom and cried.

My wife drives the wrong way on a one way street. The cop pulled her over and asked, "Where are you going?" My wife said, "I must be late, everyone is all coming back!"

My wife told me the car wasn't running well, there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was, and she told me it was in the lake.

My wife and I went to a hotel where we got a waterbed. My wife called it the Dead Sea.

My wife is on a new diet. Coconuts and bananas. She hasn't lost weight, but can she climb a tree!

She was at the beauty shop for two hours. That was only for the estimate.

She got a mudpack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.

She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" "No, jump in!"

I bought my wife a little Italian car. A Mafia. It has a hood under the hood.

Three weeks ago, she learned how to drive. Last week she learned how to aim it.

I came home, the car was in the dining room. "How did you get the car in here?" "Easy, I took a left at the kitchen."

I thought it was gone for good, so I sold all my worldly possessions, quit my job, became a monk in an obscure end times cult and self trepinated.I think you may be on the cutting edge (pun intended) with that self-trepination. There are probably people just like us on the other side of the Intergroove building a forum where they can discuss whether vintage, hand-cranked drills perform better than modern power tools, what type of pre-drill prep will get them the best results, debates on drilling one big hole versus a lot of little ones, whether to use gauze, cotton balls, band-aids, or cauterization as the ultimate post-surgical means to stop the bleeding, and of course, a flood of newbies being recruited with the enticing idea of "Once you try it, there's no going back."

Well I'll say it, this just sucks, the CH wasn't the only reason I came here, but it was a big part of it.

I feel like I've just lost a lot of good friends, sure I can just PM them, but I can't just have a conversation with them all at once now.

Most of what was said in the CH was in fact junk, but most of what if fun/funny is.

I enjoyed doing My ask Skklog thread, and doing that by Pm just doesn't work, it wouldn't be the same. :crying:

This may be my favorite reply in this thread.

Hopefully things will look better tomorrow.

Okay, I officially took over the shift this morning. It feels great and I haven't done anything. :w00t:

I had to go to a management meeting this morning. The only other officer from my shift was my Lt. and he was officially on vacation as soon as the meeting was over. So, I was taking meeting minutes, since no one else does, so that I could pass things along to the Captain and the my officers. It hit me that after each meeting, if I wasn't there and ask what happened, I get the "nothing much." They pointed out we had next to nothing to discuss today and I walked away with 2 pages of notes. Yepper. Went shopping at the Ikea store in Schaumburg with my wife and today we are heading up north to visit with my parents and brother's family.

Yes, but despite being legendary and epic, neither of those makes it "good" or "worth reading from the beginning" -- just jump in!

Unless of course you have even less of a life than most of the rest of us who hang out here on a regular basis, and you want the full flavor of the insanity involved here...

Quite possibly. What are you thinking of? (er, um,... "Of what are you thinking?")

I was thinking we need to create a buffer for the czardom.I am sure the freedom loving peoples of states bordering the czardom are "eager" to join the Czardom.

I was also thinking of a northward expansion - Quebec. I think the rest of Canada would thank us.

I hate April Fool's jokes. They're only marginally less annoying than getting pinched on St. Patrick's Day for not wearing green.

I also hate April Fool's jokes, especially when you don't realize thats it's April 1.

I got sent to the principal's office once, because I beat up a kid who tried to pinch me.

The more it sucks in, the larger it gets.

I'm not so sure the Czardom would thank us, tho. But, we can certainly expand into border states.
