Hey Adam! How are you and where are you?
I'm great! I'm in Surfside Beach, SC.
Indy won the Super Bowl.
Welcome back. Trip details, please!
So apparently I missed the whole discovery of time travel, too?! Man, I have been gone a long time!
Trip details to come. I'll eventually put some pics up somewhere. I just got internet going today, so I still haven't even moved pics from my camera to the computer yet.
The trip turned out to be fly by the seat of our pants in many respects. We got snowed out of the entire state of California (well, except skiing in Tahoe). Instead of Yosemite and Sequoiah parks we saw Guadaloupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns. I-40 was shut down across all of Arizona and New Mexico when we were trying to cross, so we went to El Paso instead. Got some great Mexican food in Phoenix and some great BBQ in Alabama. Lost some money in Vegas and stayed in the MGM Grand. Drove through blizzards, dust storms, and floods....in that order.....got pictures of all of it. Found out that Nevada was way better to look at than I had imagined, but also found out that gas stations are few and far between. (Didn't run out, but had a pretty horrific scare during near white out conditions somewhere between Reno and Vegas).
There's the executive summary for you. It is good to be stationary for a while. That's for sure.

Not really, now that you mention it. I got to see a lot of the country I had never seen, and there was one day where we went well over 800 miles. We ended up kind of putting the hammer down and blazing across Texas and the rest of the south trying to stay in the sweet spot of no precipitation. The guy that was with me had a video camera (he has a production company), and he says we were acting pretty stupid by the end of the trip. I haven't seen the video yet, so I can't confirm that for you.

Hi All,
I'm back from 70+ degree St. Maarten. So far, no snow here in the north-east, but I want to be back at the beach already.
Blake, I'm sending you a box of special St. Maarten mosquitos, which you will find to be most tenacious and a worthy addition to our security forces. I can say first hand that they are resistant to all forms of repellent and will be more subtle than the penguinators for certain situations.
So.... what did I miss around here?

Hey Matt,
The trip was great.. just long enough tho I wish I were still there. I ate way too much (diet starts monday), I'm itching to get to the gym, I didn't drink nearly enough (lol). And mostly hung out on the beach.
As for the mosquitos, yeah, what Blake said.... otoh... I'll let you know in the next few days if I develop anything. Man, they loved me and not in a good way.

My only disappointment was in my eeePC (under 2 yrs old).... very poor battery life (like 20 frickin' minutes!), perhaps due to keeping it plugged in all the time (?) and the touch pad is starting to go. ugh. well, looks like i'll be looking for a new netbook soon. Any recomendations anyone?
Otherwise, sufficient free WiFi around if you looked for it (the hotel wanted $100/week --- dream on) and the airport there charged as well. No access at Newark airport at the continental gates. But, that's the way it goes.

Hells no. No Williams love from me and I doubt it would have helped against the wee beasties. I did shortcut my routine quite a bit tho by using Kiehl's brushless... not bad stuff. Actually, best brushless I've ever used. I get notoriously hideous shaves when traveling and no problems at all since switching to Kiehl's.

Hi fellars. Just sittin' and sippin' some fresh ground coffee. (No, I didn't have the beans imported from Africa and roast them myself, but I still like the coffee ) Anyway, my son is becoming notorious for strange and funny things he says, so here's the latest.
Aidan attends a Christian day school and they occasionally learn Bible versus such as "God made all things" John 1:3, which he recites when we least expect it.
This morning, he was playing with his puppy game and had some puppy stickers in his hands when he made up his own "bible verse". "I love puppies." Aidan 26:3.
That's right, my four year old has written his own book, apparently with at least 26 chapters, and the third verse is "I love puppies." :D
Have a great day,
Doug

Huh. I really couldn't say at this point. If you pick the option to "use the whole disk," the installer should take care of things from there. I suppose it's possible that you got a corrupted installer. But, that seems unlikely if the disk works as a live cd. Jesse? Over to you.

As for beating the hell out of you, I think that's a job for the penguinators. But, I don't think that's what you were looking for.
No, it wasn't.
Hey, he's giving credit! Don't complain!
:biggrin1:
you gotta make the disc mad enough to beat the crap out of you....

Ohhh man, what a couple of weeks I've had. I've written 2000 lines of code in three languages in the last week and a half. And thank God for old code reuse, otherwise it would have been 3000. Note: always comment your code extravagantly. Some day you will need it. I'm so thankful for the comments I put in my code I wrote in 2006-2007 I can't begin to tell you.
Everyone's fine, I've just been burning the candle at both ends. Little Soapbox is back to her normal, awesome self. She had her first "swim lesson" today and was ecstatic about it.
Green Mountain shave soaps #15 and #16 shipped Friday to The Usual Gang. #17 was made today and will go out soon. #16 smells fantastic.
Yes, I let my B&B mailbox fill up. Apologies to the folks who tried to write me and couldn't. It's cleared now.
Hope y'all are well.

Hi Jesse. Yeah, I sent you a couple of PM's about the GM soaps. Reviews - I tried to go into great detail to be useful - you did see those, right? :blushing:
Good to hear from you, anyway. I know I've been too busy to be on much too.

I got your reviews, and thank you! Partly the great reviews of folks have filled up my mailbox, and partly I haven't been around to copy the text into an email to Mom and Dad and keep my inbox clean. :blushing:

Sounds like you had loads of fun these past few days. :001_rolle
And you're write about being liberal with the comments when coding. It's never fun trying to figure out exactly what you or someone else wrote and why.

That's good. I'm glad she's feeling better. You probably even more so. And a swim lesson? Cool! :thumbup1:

Aaaaa-men. I neglected to comment a few sections of the code I was re-using, and it took a lot of time to see what I was up to.
And #16 better smell awesome or else...
Hope you like Lime and Vetiver...

Welcome back, Vice Czar! Glad to hear that everyone is well. I have returned from the Caribbean scouting trip, er, um, vacation and all is well on my end also.
