You think that kind of re-education program just fell into place? That took a lot of trial and error. We don't publicise those that never re-emerged. Did you know...Oh never mind.

I am Minister of Internal Security & Foreign Intelligence and I have a dungeon. What did you think I did, meet people at the border with cheese, leis and a metal detector?

:
not a bad idea though..leis of cheese maybe...of course with micro-
transmitters to report various activities on them...

I thought the dungeon was just for Matt.

I didn't think that ever got approved. I'm not sure how good I'll be at espionage. I was just volunteering to do the dirty work. You know....I can off someone for you.

Speaking of bank accounts, listen to this crap! I found out a couple of hours ago that my debit card almost got reproduced. Some punk in New Jersey tried to charge $12 at a Bed Bath and Beyond over there. According to my card company, if that charge would have gone through they would have charged hundreds of dollars worth of stuff in Florida. Fortunately, the card company knew this and denied that initial transaction!

Here's the kicker: I am about to move across the country, and now I have no access to my checking account other than checks...which no vendors accept anymore. What an inopportune time for this kind of foolishness! Praise God for my card company being on their game, though!

I propose we activate an entire legion of Penguinators as soon as I get an address for the a**hole responsible for this! Is that okay with the Czar and Security Services?

We got screwed in Belgium because of this kind of crap. We were at a McDonalds oddly enough. Our card was declined, so we paid with what little cash we had left. We had called our credit card company ahead of time to tell them so our cards wouldn't get turned off. My wife ran all over trying to get it straightened out. Both the credit card and debit card got shut off at about the same time. She finally woke her mom up and had her send us some cash to get us through until the next business day.

all joking aside...CAN they catch him? and if they do what will they do to him? It ticks me off the most to be lied to or about and stealing is right up there. Essentially he has lied about your good name and stolen. We say he..may be a gang even so I hope they DO get whoever it is and you don't have to pay for the treachery with a bad credit report etc.

Well, I know which BB&B the card info where was used. If they have security cameras (and the store's workers/managers aren't in on it), we could use the date, time, and cash register information from the card purchase to put a face with the transaction. From there it would be a matter of using the face to find a name, then an address. Then you would have to figure out how their system of card theft/reproduction works. It would take some time and considerable effort, but I think it would be possible.

I know we won't give tapes from our system to anyone unless the police, a judge, our lawyer, or corporate asks for it. Sometimes we will show a video, but we really aren't supposed to. Technically, we are not supposed to release with out a subpoena. I have no idea what their policy is.

That's why I'd get a job there for a couple months. They would soon give me their trust. All I need is a copy. That should be easy enough.

Or, I could just approach the police and persuade them to take it on.

Fortunately, the card company knew this and denied that initial transaction!

We had something similar happen with a credit card a few years ago. I got a call from the credit card company about two online charges totaling about $1200. I refused both charges, and one of the vendors refunded the charge immediately. I spent the next three months wrangling with the other vendor, which was in New York. I finally told them that if I hung up the phone again, my next call would be to the New York State Attorney General's office, after which point it took about an hour to get the charge removed...

That's of course assuming something is being done in that neck of the woods.

Not much. A Reservation Officer may have to be gone more than a day to drive across his "beat" and works by himself. I really don't know what they expect the poor guys to do , honestly.

I'm not at liberty to discuss that.

There is some effort. It's just not really enough, IMO.

Exactly. On top of that, the BIA police department here is under staffed, and officers spend most of their time responding to domestic disturbance calls and traffic accidents. It leaves little time for investigation type work.

Yeah, I can't say with authority, but it seems particularly bad out here. Of course, alcohol is illegal on this reservation. That gives cops here something extra to worry about. They work around the clock arresting people for possession, intoxication, and what-not.......of alcohol.

By the way, I meant "under staffed" in that last post.

I had to pour new foundation in one of the back rooms

there was no Insulation in the parts of the attic

The furnace was not big enough, I need about 120,000 btu I have 60,000 btu

the roof that I was told was new, will need to be replaced soon

we have bats that keep us up at night ( they squeak some nights, they live in the upstairs floor)

My house is structural brick, so it's a pain in the butt hang pictures or anything for the mater

My windows are too tall for any curtain you can buy, so I have to custom order them.

Your choice. Personally, I find more benefits to owning a home than having a job.

I had a nasty cardboard cut at one job, and a CD cut at another.

It depends on the house. I'm wishing I could win the lottery, and sell this sucker.

Some people are no fun. :thumbdown

I work with one like that. Nothing makes him happy and I'm not even sure he is capable of laughter. That's a guy that nothing truly makes him happy.

The upside is that he doesn't have to worry about anyone taking his chair when he does go out.

That's horrible. Glad your CC company caught it! Try living overseas. When we moved we contacted our bank to let them know we'd be traveling globally and ultimately residing in Japan. They STILL blocked two of our charges (at a hotel in Tokyo and a meal) "as a precaution". While I was irritated since I'd already informed them it was nice to know that they actually monitor things that closely.

It really is an unnecessary pain. Why can't people just be decent? I'm not saying everyone has to be perfect. Just respect each other enough to not steal from them. I'm seriously considering putting some effort into tracking this guy down.

Because Eve ate the forbidden fruit and convinced Adam to do the same. Duh!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the weekend. :thumbup1:

Discussion of what happens once the weekend is over will not be allowed.

Thank you! Since you have the power to bestow the weekend I'd like to request that its duration be increased significantly!

Why, pray tell (he asked in a stupified voice) is next weekend a long weekend for many?

MLK day. I don't get the day off, but my wife does, so that's something!

Dennis! How's life?

It's improving. Still not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I am getting lots of time to think about it as I drive across this great land of ours. I'm considering going back to school again next fall. I envy people that just know what it is that they were meant to do in life.

NOT exactly "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—" Romans 5:12...hope THIS didn't tick anyone off but the ladies MAY be right..it IS all our fault

Improving is good. Glad you're still enjoying the road -- make any DE converts at truck stops?

Back to school, eh? Any subjects in particular you're thinking of?
