It's gonna melt your face right off of your skull, and make your iPod only play Jethro Tull. It will tell you knock-knock jokes while you're tryin' to sleep, and make you physically attracted to sheep. It will steal your identity and your credit cards, buy you a warehouse full of pink leotards, then cause a major rift in time and space and leave a bunch of Twinkie wrappers all over the place!
What's so bad about Jethro Tull? Not only were they a unique sound but Ian Anderson is recognized as one of the greatest flautists in modern history. (but, true, they did not deserve that "heavy metal" award of several years ago.)

Actually, I appreciate it, too. I don't normally do this, but I read y'all's whole conversation. Interesting stuff. If I end up with ANOTHER hobby complete with its own AD's, I'm coming after one of you.
So Blake, where did you find that old thing? Gun smithing is something I've always been interested in learning about. Truth be told, I'd love to get into some amateur rifle competitions, too. I'm just not sure I want pony up the dough for a serious rifle. Guns fascinate me, none the less, as does pretty much anything mechanical. The controlled chaos of firearms, though, makes them particularly interesting.
Did you notice what happened this morning. It may be a first in history. A Clown House thread, THE Clown House thread, was completely hijacked by Rob and I. How weird is that?
I am really enjoy this, so far. I am wondering where to get another one to restore now.

Mods have feet of clay like the rest of us. But VBulletin uses a PHP/MySQL backend, which means that post count can be modified like any other variable. Maybe not by just any old mod, but it can be done.
(feel better? Nah, I didn't think so.)

Happy New Year, Blake!
Thank you. We shall see. Tonight is my last night, then I have seven nights off. I gearing up for the worst night of the year. New Year's sucks, big time. In years past, by the end of the night, our entire ER lobby reeked of pot and beer. There is usually some PITA drunks, a stabbing and/or shooting or two, etc. Last year, I came to work in a horrible and fowl mood, expecting the usual hell. I waited and waited for the hammer to drop. The entire night was dead. Literally nothing happened all night! I spoke to a city officer a couple of days later, and he said the whole city was like that. We don't know what happened. I doubt I can get two in a row like that, however.

We did one time, but it was before I started. Police bean-bagged down guy at the mall who was wielding a homemade bat'leth. He wouldn't speak English and they weren't sure what he was speaking. One of our officers "happened" to know enough Klingon to recognise the language, but not enough to converse. However, he "happened" to know a guy in the cafeteria that spoke fluent Klingon. He had to come up and act as translator.

You know what, Rob? I actually don't know what I'm saying. It just occurred to me that I worked somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-14 hours today, and it is nearly 3 in the morning. That means I've been awake for roughly 20 hours straight. I will respectfully bow out of this conversation and just assume that you were right in the first place. :001_tongu
Anyway, Happy 2010, man! Perhaps we'll revisit this conversation again when I get my wits about me. :wink2:

had a guy roll on the floor one day wasy at least 6 sheet to the wind...he spoke Spanish..in an AHA moment I called one of my friends in the blood bank (a Puerto Rican native and genuinely nice sweet lady) to translate..after listening to the guy a bit she says..."I speak Spanish..not DRUNKEN Spanish..even I don't understand this guy" classic!:lol:

Tonight was insane! It was so bad, we had one officer sitting down, trying to keep up with the reports while the rest of us ran from room to room. By the time we would get one person strapped or calmed down, one or two more were screaming or ripping out IV's. It was like that all night. It settled down about 0630. Not completely, but we were able to get all but two officers out of the ER. It was a bad night, but we had a blast. We laughed so hard. Mostly at the expense of all the stupid drunks, but it got us through. We walked away with so many stories that we are going to laugh about for years to come.

Sorry, I'm about to leave to watch a movie. I will leave you with this nugget. I watched a new officer argue repeatedly with this one idiot. I had enough and stepped in. The Registration staff knew me well enough to know it was an act and was dying laughing. I could hear them snickering behind me. I acted really pi**ed off and told the guy to go back to his room. He wanted to know why no one was coming down to talk to him and I said, "It may come as a surprise to you, but you are not the only drunk pain in the butt here tonight." That got the reaction I wanted. He got a little upset, but just a little. Fortunately, I had read the guy right. I stomped over and started yanking restraints out of the bag. I told him, "You have an option. You stay in your room and shut up, or these will keep you in your room. And believe me, they are not comfortable." He gave that look like he could believe it, but knew he was going to lose. He shook his head and went to his room. He didn't come out for three hours.

I've always said that. I believe the best team in the nation sat out in '04 when Auburn was undefeated and didn't play for the "championship", meanwhile the two media darlings USC and Oklahoma played - both were good that year, but Auburn wouldn't eaten their lunch, then gave them a wedgie.
The BCS is too often a popularity contest. I believe this year they have it right, but a playoff system would be much better

Cincinnati + play against Florida = learn what opening a can of SEC defense whoop-tail is all about :001_smile
Yup. Just like what UGA did to Hawaii a couple years ago. "Undefeated" just doesn't mean very much unless you play in a strong conference.
Horribly boring is what it is. Blowouts are no fun no watch.
+1 - Although, I love for the SEC to get bragging rights like this. Poor Cinci... :001_tongu
yeah, but it makes my Tide look good :wink2:
Zero losses for an undefeated season (including my prediction of their victory over TX) in the SEC......do they really need to look any better?
Has anybody noticed how many of this year's bowl games have been exactly that? It's like somebody sat around going, "Okay, let's see how many uneven match-ups we can put together?'
There have been some good ones, though. Northwestern/Auburn went into overtime earlier, and the LSU/Penn St. game came down to the wire, too.
Sure, it's proof positive of how busted the BCS's selection scheme is.
That I agree with, though. A playoff would get some of these Cinci-type teams out of the way and give some good teams, like Florida, who didn't win their conference a chance to play some real competition.
Well maybe for the "Championship" game this year, but the rest of this year's bowl games? Anyway, I agree. We really need some sort of playoff system.
I have a friend who is working toward a journalism degree in college. He knows sports better than any person I've ever met. He and another friend of ours came up with a simple, brilliant idea for a playoff system.
Take the winners of each of the 11 FBS conferences and five at-large teams and make a 16 team playoff. The seeds are based on BCS rankings, as is the selection of the 5 at-large teams. Higher seed/rank will have home field for first 2 rounds. Semi-finals and National Championship will be hosted by 3 of the 4 BCS bowls.
Simple, fair, looks good to me. Why would it be so hard for something like that to be employed?

That's exactly what the majority of folks are saying, keep the BCS ranking system, and use that to make a playoff bracket.
Simple enough to me....but then, I don't have and money at stake in the system, and that's obviously the most important factor, that the richie riches get their money instead of providing an exciting football tournament...

Yeah, the 'mighty dollar' probably has more influence on this than any number of disgruntled fans. It sucks, though. Wasn't there two or three years in a row when a deserving SEC team didn't get a shot at the National Title? I know someone mentioned Auburn earlier, and I think LSU dealt with that once or twice within a couple of years of that.

yeah, it appears that SEC teams get the shaft a lot of times if they don't start the year ranked high, even though they work themselves to the top. Just winning out in the SEC with 0-1 losses is tough enough. Not that it's that much tougher than other conferences, but it is probably the toughest. Like I said, it's too much a popularity contest - after all, the popular teams will bring the most fans, which equals more money to bring in. Boise State or TCU very well may have the best teams in the country, but they won't bring near the numbers Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, etc., will.
Problem is, it's not an accurate measurement of heart, passion, and intensity that the smaller teams can bring, which really sucks for the "smaller" teams

Compare? To what? Drugs? Yep, that addictive. AWESOME story line, plenty of levels. Difficult but not impossible. Fun to play by your self or with up to three amigos, up to 24 Marvel characters to play, plenty of sub-missions and minor accomplishments to go along with the primary objectives... incredible graphics, fun entertainment, some mindless with a little thinking stuff thrown in... To me, the coolest part was choosing Iron Man's side or Cap's, to register or not to register, that is the question.

Not quite. What was really funny, was PD brought a patient in from a nearby town. She was just there for medical clearance before he took her to jail. She was screaming and beating on the door so loud that staff had to do something. While we were all gathered around, the guy finally came out of his room again. It wouldn't have happened except someone spoke to him and started getting him worked up again. The nurse is fairly new to Trauma Side. She deals with calmer things normally. I haven't been real impressed with her and she is one who typically thinks you can reason with some of these people. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you can't. It is a fact. If they were reasonable, they wouldn't be there. This nurse just blew up and started yelling at the guy like an angry mother. The man didn't seem afraid, but he knew he was at a dead end and went back to his room and didn't come out. He was only there another couple of hours.
