Yes. The wiki needs lots of work and you don't have to interact with anybody, though it helps. I'd love to see more Clown-housers ("hosers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_Brew)"?) contributing to the wiki.

I would love to help, but alas, I am limited in knowledge. I am not yet a Master, only an Apprentice Wet Shaver.

We thought it best to not so closely identify with the tactics of Commrad Breshnev in the hopes of obtaining greater compliance from said spammers. However, the telecast was able to show the penguinators at the ready and looking quite menacing.

Now that was a respectable Monday Morning Slagleflood.

Thank you, thank you! :001_cool:

Yes. The wiki needs lots of work and you don't have to interact with anybody, though it helps. I'd love to see more Clown-housers ("hosers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_Brew)"?) contributing to the wiki. I mean, there isn't even a picture of a Slant in the article on the Merkur slant bar razor. Now, I'll take a picture of mine, but everyone who visits that page has surely said "really? no pictures?" and besides, some of you might have an older slant, or a Pomco slant, or the shipping box the Slant came in...all of which would be useful and welcome.

I'm happy to help people with wikicode, or with uploading.

Whoa, are you recruiting for contributions (non-monetary) to the forum from the Clown House?

Thanks!

I'm happy to help, and since the Clown House is more or less my B&B "office", here is as good a place as any.

Nope but its like saying "I will be in my office" as I head into the head.

That's the general idea. But also, most of y'all are "knowns" and so I feel like it's appropriate to solicit wiki help from my colleagues in the Clown House. The wiki needs assistance, and 90% of the assistance is easily achieved by people with digital cameras, scanners, or just a web browser. The other day I modified the Astra pages to reflect that they were now made in Russia. Many of you knew that already, so if you had found the need for the update, you could have made that change.

I added a bunch of redirects for Gillette models: "President" to "Gillette President", e.g. More of these would be useful. All of y'all can help.

It's a lot more fun now. In the early days when it was just me, it was a little more...awkward.

Improv Everywhere is a great group. I have been ready about their exploits for several years. The only problem is the No Pants Subway Ride has gotten so big, it is a public event now. Seems like they even had police at the last one. Not to intervene, but keep things under control. If I remember, the first one had under a dozen participants. They are now over a thousand and have others in other cities participating. It makes it lose some of the "What the heck is going on" factor, but is still funny.

Heh, well, besides contributing some to that wiki, I've got a head for trivia, a thirst for knowledge, and five academic degrees (three postgraduate). I read wikipedia often, usually because something is nagging at me and I want to understand it. While this practice can result in lost time at work (while I learn how vacuum tube AC-DC rectifiers work, versus a diode bridge), it also keeps me sharp. For instance, lately, it's been antenna theory (on wikipedia and elsewhere) since I got my first two amateur radio licenses in October. Yea, it's probably a sickness. :biggrin1:

I guess it's because I haven't particularly noticed it coming from people closer to my age. Again, I'm sorry if I touched a nerve. I did not mean to offend...

Perhaps people closer to your age have been around long enough to understand why that is an etiquette issue. This conversation is the first time it has been brought to my attention. "No problem" = "you're welcome" as far as I know at this point.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm personally not offended. There's no need to apologize to me.

I do want to throw this out there for you. Perhaps 'kids these days' comments are my pet peeve, much the way 'no problem' is to you, but here's why.

When I was in middle school, our teachers would bring the entire 7th grade class (roughly 150 of us) into the hall and proceed to tell us all how bad we were, that we were the worst class to come through that school. The same thing happened to me again in one of my college courses. The professor let the class have it because we all did poorly on one paper. He told us how worthless my generation is. In college, it pissed me off so bad that I nearly cussed the professor out. Needless to say, I barely passed that class. I can feel my blood pressure rising as I sit here thinking about it. I still have no respect for that man. I guess I tell you this to tell you that my generation has caught this crap for a long time. I can see how it would peeve Matt a little.

I eventually came to the realization, though, that we can only learn what we're taught. I work as hard as I can to be the best man I know how to be, and if one generation thinks my generation is lacking some particular knowledge, then teach it. I like to learn new stuff. Just try to avoid negative generalizations. It is frustrating to work as hard at etiquette and to become a productive, contributing member of society as I have and still get lumped into a group of underachievers because of your age or because of generational language differences. I like to think my generation will accomplish great things as we come into age. And somewhere along the line, what we're taught from the generation preceding us comes into play.

Not long after I started hanging out around here, Jesse was declared Vice Czar, right? Previously he had been interim, if I remember correctly. Not that you would consider ridding the Czardom of him. Rather, I'm just noting that it is good to have him in a more permanent position.

much more so than we do :blushing:

:yesnod:

Actually No problem = No problem and You're welcome = You're welcome.

The Bold section explains why you fit in here so well.:lol::lol:

I agree 100%

I'm really tempted just to keep using "No problem" just to annoy the two of you.

Old farts these days, they have absolutely no respect for todays youth. It's sad you know, I was taught that respect is a two way street, but so many of those from the generation that taught me that ideal don't subscribe to it. :glare:
