Just had my first shave last night using the LUX razor I bought from kevtex here.

This model is definitely unique and I'm glad I snagged one. The all stainless steel construction is quite nice; It's neat knowing that it will probably look the same way practically forever, plating loss would be impossible! :thumbup1:

It looks somewhat similar to my goto razor, a fat handle Tech, however it really is a different beast altogether. I broke it in using my default evaluation setup: Omega soap, Omega boar brush, Derby blades and AV classic. It definitely is more aggressive than the Tech. I would actually rank it around the lines of an HD. Personally I noticed that the strange blade angle yields quite a different shave than any of my Gillettes or Merkurs. I purposely do not aim for BBS when breaking in a new razor. The shave was a solid DFS and the minuscule amount of stubble in some areas actually felt different from other DEs (dare I say, almost reminded me of how M3 stubble felt...) Just a quirky personal observation...

I do think I like this oddball communist razor . It will definitely be interesting throwing different blades at it. Will also have to try swapping the handle onto a Tech.

Have you polished the Shear marks off the edges of the guide bars.
I found that improves the performance.

Actually this one is nice and smooth. Perhaps kevtex or the previous owner already did this?

I don't see any obvious sanding marks, so someone did a good job of it.

Glad you checked in, Bob. I was going to try and find the old Lux thread.

The Lux has 2 problems.
It got the lightest head of any razor, 17.4 grans versus 26.8 for a tech with a copper cap. The later Techs have a Zinc caps but I don't have one to weigh.
It also puts more arch into the blade then a Tech or most razors and requires a different technique.
Probably wouldn't be a problem if you shave with it all the time.
But if you rotate razors you have to relearn it every time it's turn comes around.
I have the same problem with the slant and it's not in my rotation either.
