I scored a K-2 fatboy, Slim adj (not sure of date code yet) and a Fat handle Tech. Ill get some pics this week after i get them cleaned up. They are all in good condition (slight signs of wear but no brassing or plate loss) not show pieces by any means, but should be great shavers nonetheless.
Starting out slow with a bottle of Williams Ice Blue AS - the closest thing to Aqua Velva to be found here in Denmark.
Regards.

I recently acquired quite a few new razors:
Vintage Hoffritz Slant
Gold Gillette Sheraton
Gillette Ranger Tech
Gold Gillette New Improved (Bostonian?)
Gem Micromatic
Gem Junior
Gem G Bar
I wish I could post pictures, but my internet isn't co-operating right now. The Sheraton and the New Improved need cleaning, so I'll have pre/post pictures up sometime soon.

My grandpa gave me a straight razor, i have no intentions on using it just kind of a cool piece to add to my collection.
From what ive dug up so far is that it was made somewhere between 1893-1921 by Griffon Cutlery Works.
its not in the best shape but cool nonetheless. :)

I hate to be the one to do this to you, but it's not a FatBoy. It's a Slim, which is just as good of a razor in my opinion. Now, I'm going to walk away slowly.....

Had to go out to a clients and was playing with Google maps.
"Accidently" put the word Antiques in the search and mysteriously found a list of Antique Shops on the way to clients. :tongue_sm
Rather than drop into all of them I figured I'd give them a call.........
"Nope ", "Haven't got any", "Haven't seen any for years" were the standard replies until.....
"You mean something like a Gillette Adjustable ????? "...Score maybe, who knows it could be a pile of junk. I know it's got a case though............. :biggrin1: Most of you should be able to guess what this razor might be before I got there............
Off we go, stop off ....hopes aren't high , get in there.....wooohooo: :biggrin1:

To me it looks like its basically never been used. Numbers are completely black and there's not a trace of muck on it.
Manage to haggle 33% off the price and it's mine.... all mine...... :biggrin1: Not as good a bargain as some of the razors I've found but still a good price for a Near Mint FB with case
Blackdog this is a Fatboy.
Main differences to look for ...case, size of the TTO Knob at the bottom ( shorter and stouter ) , vertical pattern on 1-9 adjuster . But don't worry slims are still a good razor.
( Sorry Bushranger :001_tt2:).

Well....since I don't visit The States that often, and the postage to send it over here is quite steep, I decided to just go for it.
My intention is to give some of it (the Mama Bear and SCS at least) away to other Danes/Scandinavians when I decide what I like. I'll keep you posted if you're interested.
Actually, Mama Bear sent me a couple of extras, which means that I have two of the Aromatic Pipe Tobacco, so if anybody is interested in a trade or at least wants to try it real bad, here in Scandinavia, let me know.

It cost a little more for it than what I would have paid for the Super Adjustable I was after. They cleaned up well, and I'm very happy.
From left to right (feel free to correct my inaccuracies, and and add any educational comments - I'm only a few weeks in and learning):
Old Style - well-worn, plating loss, cracked shaft. Neat old razor.
Slim Adjustable N4 - Very nice condition, black numbers, and my birth year! This one replaces my current slim adj.
Slim Super Adjustable V4 - Looks like it's hardly been used. 90% paint on the numbers. Works great. Plastic handle is a bit of a disappointment. Got a pretty good first shave off it.
Gem Micromatic - A little plating loss on some of the hard corners, but in overall good shape. Mechanically sound. I was surprised at the heft of this one.
Gem Featherweight - Lots of the gold plating is gone, but in good shaving-shape. Handle cleaned up nice. I like the simplicity.
Straight - Looked pretty rough, so I went at it with the dremel. It had a lot of rust and staining. Plastic scales. I cleaned it up, but the edge is pitted. Trademark is 'RESPECT' and it's marked '553' on the other side.
With the exception of the Super Adjustable, I'll probably try these out, and then pass them along, one way or another.

Some of my stuff I've gotten for this week:
http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu71/kooshman7/itemsfortoday.jpg
TOBS Rose
TOBS Avacodo
Vintage Blades Triple Milled soap (Got left out sadly)
Gillette E4 Fatboy
Gillette L2 Slim Adjustable
Gillette 1948-50 Aristocrat with case and Gillette Blue blades
Rooney Faux Horn Emillion
Radiumite Straight
Milwaukee Straight in Comfort Razor box (Mismatch)
The Aristocrat and the Radiumite are special as the Aristocrat belonged to my grandfather, and the Radiumite belonged to my great grandfather! I bought the Milwaukee Straight at an antique store. Not shave ready yet I don't think, plus I'm not ready to use a straight, but someday I'll give it a try, but some reason I just couldn't leave the little guy behind. Just something about the scales I liked. But it's been a good week so far, and I might have my DB scuttle I ordered this week as well, so been a very good week! In acuality the past month has been good, been having all sorts of things coming in for awhile now. Been on too much of a buying spree that's going to have to end.

Holdin' 3 Aces. The Tech and Slim are in very good condition. The Slim has original black in all it's numbers. The '58 TV Special has a little brassing and discoloration. No rattles or sticking on any of them. Got 'em all in the same thrift shop near my apartment. Cleaned up real nice. Next time I won't photograph them against a red background.

Scored a few razors this week. Scored a fatboy e4, slim adjustable no date code with notch, and slim adjustable L3. The slim and superspeed wer had for 11.00 including tax. Were rusted, green, and covered in black gunk at places. I cleaned them a lot but I am sure someone else could do better.

I already know, you mentioned it already, £26 or £27.
I'm Australian.
Anyway, it's a nice buy so congrats.
I've cut down on buying razors, I just throw a bid here and there on nice cased examples these days as a gamble, as I really don't need any extra razors.
Ok, I officially overdid it, but I think my SSAD is oficially over now.
I just returned from US to this package:

I managed to pick up an unused, still in the cellophane 100ml bottle of Floris Vetiver EDT for the princely sum of 10 English Pounds on a Buy It Now. Gotta love ebay some times

Purchase last week, and arrived today. The top of the head is pretty much silver, the gold is almost all gone, you have to look at the sides of the head to tell it was gold at one time. Other than that it is solid. And Scoof, did you leave anything for the rest of us? Just kidding great score!!

You've done very well. This military set is in fine shape and the mirror looks to be in extraordinary condition. Something yo don't see to often for sure.....Enjoy!!!
WWI shaving set, finally I got something to be proud of (well I'm proud of all my razors, but you know, something not as common as an Aristocrat, or souplex, etc.)

After looking at the massive haul that scoof reeled in, perhaps the Acquisitions series should be closed permanently.

That is indeed a thing of great beauty - and of equal historical significance. Very nice!

Just snagged off daBay for $16.00. I believe it to be a 46-47 aristocrat. Hopefully it's in nice shape...

Been a good week.
1956 Tech with unopened pack of blue blades in it's box - stamped "Gift of the American Red Cross - Not to be sold." Which I believe means it is a war razor.
Razor is in excellent shape - used maybe once or twice. Box is in very good shape.

Ha not a chance the razor wouldn't cut a custard tart
at the moment.
During the summertime there is a car-trunk sale the two first weekends of each month here in Horsens. This year my girlfriend and I have been going there almost every time, first time I found an alu handle Brit. Tech, for D.Kr. 30m not a great deal, but I bought it - today our persistence paid off:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/Jakobeep/Vintage/Gillette_OldType_SingleRing_InBo-3.jpg
I was going through a big box containing at lot of small boxes (always check out the small boxes ) when my eye caught this. It looked rather familiar
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/Jakobeep/Vintage/Gillette_OldType_SingleRing_InBo-2.jpg
Upon opening the box I saw this; a Gillette single-ring i nice condition, the plating on the handle is nearly gone, but on the head and knob it is intact and the teeth are all perfectly straight. The box had some rust that I polished off, the razor did not need to be polished

I have a terrible poker-face so I always wear sunglasses at flea-markets, as most sellers will try to gather how much you want a thing by looking you in the eyes, thus setting the price after that. The seller gave the box a quick look, then he looked briefly at me, looked back at the razor, and then said: "Will you give me D.Kr. 30 for it?" Smilingly I paid him and went off feeling rather much like a thief in the night.
D.Kr. 30 is $ 5.50
Regards.

I too wear my sunglasses at flea-markets. Not only does it keep the sun out of my eyes, but it keeps the seller out of my head

My prize are the two Georgetown Scuttles. One personalized with my bulldogs
The other is Harmada and purple. Some creams and soaps I recently reordered.
I got lucky today. Found a razor that hadn't found it's way into the collection: an Empire-handled Pocket Edition. Found a 1914 today in a basketweave box. Pictured below on the left.
Next to it are the 1956 Red Cross Tech and the leather-cased Rolls I found yesterday.
