Just stumbled upon a Gem Micromatic closed guard for FREE. I don't know anything about these things. Any good links to get a read up on? What's the in and outs of these razors? Should I try one? Any advantages? Disadvantages?

Thank you

Sure you should try it, the price is right!!!

I use mine once in awhile, they work great for me. They can be very aggressive, so watch the angle and pressure.

GEMs afford a fine shave, and come in a variety of models introduced and produced for nearly a century. The 'clog pruf' safety bar Micromatic or 'bullet tip' Micromatic are both excellent shavers. The key is to acquire 'shaving blades', not 'paint scraper' blades. These should be readily available at the local drug store.

There are a lot of threads and postings on GEM or SE razors in the B&B 'Safety Razors' forum. These excellent razors will give a gentle, super close shave and are well worth trying.
