Is there a problem with the visual notification of new posts in the forum? As it is now, I have to go into the forum to see if there's new posts.
Maybe something similar to the attached?
*edit* See better explanation, below - it's not that there's no notification, but that it seems to be borked, and never clearing the "new posts in forum" flag - or maybe it's just me. Any Firefox users having this problem as well?

Mike, you can view all new posts by clicking on the heading blue bar "New Posts".

Hi Austin -
It may be something particular to this site - for instance, if I don't view every page in a thread, the thread continues to show new posts. If I don't view every thread with new posts, the forum continues to show new posts.
So, the only way I can see if there are changes in a forum is to either click the 'all new posts' bar, or to look at the "latest post" column and try to remember what the last one was when I looked at the forum.
After you read what you find interesting (?) go to Quick links (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=115306#post115306&nojs=1usercptools)in the navigation(blue) bar > open the drop down menu>Mark forums read.

I hadn't seen that...thank you. You'd think that since the site uses cookies to see if you're logged in and track what's been changed since last login, that the same cookies could be used to update the forums as you go in/out of them...not a huge gripe, more of a quibble.

Mike,
Some forum software (such as vB) has the option to track new posts via cookies. This is actually a less effective means of tracking unread posts. The cookie works based on time stamps. B&B is configured to actually log which threads you've visited in the database so unlike a cookie, it is completely accurate. If you haven't read a thread, it is still new, and it retains that 'unread' icon next to it. If you go through a forum and read all of the new threads, then when you go back to the main forum page, you'll notice that that forum's icon no longer shows any 'new' posts in that forum.
Aside from Jim's method, you can also mark forums as read by going to the bottom of the main forum page and below the last forum is a link to mark the forums as read.

Hi Nick -
Yes, it does note the threads I've read - IF I visit every page in the thread, and IF I exit the thread via the "forum jump" button at the bottom of the page. Anything else and the thread still shows unread. I've gotten used to hitting the "mark forum read" link, so no huge problem - as I said, more of a quibble than anything else.
