If anyone has a suggestion on what the problem might be and a possible solution regarding my black tip I would be grateful to hear it.
It is an X2 with the washer between the black tip and the handle (first year for the washer).
I bought this razor used, and from the start, it was extremely difficult to turn the tip to open the doors and to close them. It could be done, but it took a rag on the tip and a pair of pliers to do it.
I did the standard cleaning, scrubbing bubbles soak, rinse, ultrasonic cleaner run in a hot solution of water and dawn detergent (excellent cleaner), and still could not get the knob to turn any easier.
I have soaked it overnight in a cup of mineral oil, which had no noticeable effect besides making it harder to grip the knob.
I'm thinking stripped threads inside on the plastic knob, but disassembly will have to wait till I can make a tool that will remove the odd "reverse" phillips head screw under the knob.
In the interim, anyone else have this problem with the plastic tips? What did you do to resolve the issue?
I really would like to make it work, as it is in excellent condition otherwise.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
