So i picked up some AV green, and a small bottle of brut to try out.

Tried out the brut today after a shave, and surprisingly this stuff left my skin feeling fantastic.

I just can't place the smell, i know it, but my aphasia is kicking in.
its like baby powder or oil or + something else. That something else is definitely a note in womens parfumes.

I think it would make a great scent to layer with a strong cologne.

First thank you.

Second, i don't think i'd ever be able to pick up on and identify those by smell.

No prob! By the way, that's from basenotes.net. NO WAY is my nose that good, lol. All I get out of Brut is flashbacks to junior high locker room, and what Long's Drugs smells like. Maybe on a good day, I could take a whiff and detect basil, vetiver, anf the patchouli. Anyway, check out basenotes...that site's got some good info.

I too tried brut out for the first time the other day. The scent is very different from other after shave's I tried which is nice. It has earned its spot next to my AV musk :biggrin1:

LOL...you guys are old school...does it still come with the little silver medallion "necklace" on the bottle? I haven't atually seen a bottle of Brut since it was in glass...

Reminds me of my brother in high school. Brut and later, Polo.

I might try Brut one day, but Polo.. blech. Never.

Thanks, i definitely will.

you know the sad thing is i'm 21 and you're calling me old school. LOL.

To be honest, what i like most about the drugstore brands is, no one else my age wears them. Women :001_wub: the pinaud stuff so far The majority of men choose to go the scentless route, and everyone else is rocking the tommy, axe or you've got the "spoiled brat" crowd wearing copious amounts of armani doce and gabana.

No one my age wears aftershaves any more...oh well more for me.

by the way its a plastic bottle now and about 7 CAD for 100ml, i'll have to check wal-mart, cuz thats more than double wut i paid for av

i just picked up the dollar general clone of brut.now i am not a brut fan,the dry down is too powdery for me,and it always reminds me of disco (aaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh---nnnnnoooooooo)well the clone has the brut type scent with almost no powder and some "green" undertones.i applied a bit to my inner wrist and an hour later it has settled down nicely and is still noticable up close.all for just $1.50.us

I like the smell of brut, I used to smell it all the time as a kid. However, it is a bit brutal (its a very bold scent).

I think the brut AS balm is very good and smells just like brut, only a bit more toned down.

Polo Blue ASB has a nice clean scent but it costs quite a bit. It is actually one of my favorites that I used before I started wet shaving. Personally, I think I will stay away from the Brut line.

I used Brut in the '70s and still use it as of recently. Other than the plastic bottle is it the same. My nose can not tell the difference.

this is to revisit the generic clone of brut.i had posted that it dried down nicely and hung around for an hour or two.well i slapped some on a few days ago and------well it still dries down and has a pleasant scent but it cannot stand up to georgia's summer heat and completely disappears.it may be good for a climate controlled enviroment.oh well it only cost $1.60 us.

It's weird

The Balm smells nice

I bought a bottle of their cologne recently; It smells good, but after the drydown, it leaves a stinky undertone :confused::confused:
