Let's see the goods for the week!

Won this on eBay last week for under $20, but just took the pictures this morning. Pre-date code gold Tech in what appears to be the original box. The missing cardboard thingy that goes between the handle and head is the only thing that keeps this from being new-in-box. Not sure if I dare use it!

First of all I hope my pictures aren't too bad. I just got home from a long trip, and am exhausted, but I wanted to share some pics of what I picked up in only 2 antique shops while I was gone. Surprising to think only two netted me all of this, but it did! :biggrin1:
The first four pics are all from the first store I stopped at. First time I stopped in I only bought the Crabtree & Evelyn lavander soap, and a pack of Waltham razor blades was thrown in for free. Still debating on if I want to use this soap, or put it away and keep it. Not too old, made in 1986. I eventually came back to the store on my return trip today, and thankfully the brushes were still there.
The brush in the second picture I have a bit of information I can get from the bottom. The brush was made by Comoy's of London and is English Pewter. It was made in Sheffield, England. I can't find any indication of the type of hair, but I'm sure it is badger. Too soft to be boar from the ones I've experienced at least. It feels like silvertip judging from the silvertips I've used. It's a little on the floppy side, but not bad.
The second brush in the third picture is smaller, but it has more heft surpisingly than the first one shown. A little on the small size for the handle, but I like the heft. If you look on the bottom, sorry I couldn't get a nice picture, it says real badger. It feels a little scratchier than the first, and would say it compares very close to my EJ BBB, but denser. I forgot to take a picture of it, but you can also untighten the base of the brush and open it up. It doesn't look like it is meant to have anything kept inside it. Ok with me at the moment if I don't know, I like it!
At first I was thinking I wouldn't be interested in these brushes as I prefer to use what I do buy, but after I left it occured to me, "It doesn't look like these brushes were really used to be honest." They don't seem to have bloomed yet, no residue in the hair that I see, no smell of badger, or any soap. I might end up using these beauties, but I would like to make sure they are clean before I use. They could use a bit of cleaning too to get some residue off. I really like how these brushes look, they are very beautiful little brushes. Even if I don't use them they'd be great for display!
Those were the things that I really was impressed the most with, but even the other items I like as well. I believe the razor case in picture 5 to the right is for one of the Gillette Aristocrats correct? It got a bit bent up where the top had spaces cut into it to help opening it at the edges. I don't know what the left razor case belongs too, but they both have Gillette on it. Only other thing I really was wondering about at the moment is what type of Gillette Tech is the silver colored one? Anyone know on that? Any comments about the brushes or anything else would be awesome. Just wanted to share what I found on my trip as I'm especially happy with it! :001_wub:

A nice way to end a day. The razor is the Edwin Jagger Lined Chatsworth from The English Shaving Company. It is a great-looking razor. Nice attention to detail.
The shaving soaps... well you know about that.
Check out the Razor Forum for some comparsion photos between the EJ with the Muehle head and the 23c with a Merkur head.
Also check out the G-rated version of the Irisch Moos in the soap section.

Well, there was no discount but I did get an apology. The price was not too bad, but not as good a score as I thought it would be. But I just got a nice condition Krona in a lot of razors off da Bay, so this new razor will sit in the case and the other will become my shaver.

I picked these up - "pond dredge" grade for £5 the pair - the "before" picture is after I'd given them a first rinse...
The Fatboy has some plate loss on the handle and came paint-free in the numbers department... some ultrasonickery, vinegar, Silvo and black enamel later and it's presentable at least.
The British TV Special seems pretty much intact - although I think the TTO knob has suffered some indignity at some stage.

The funny thing is that I saw them a week ago at a different car boot sale and the idiot selling them wanted £12 each for them. I lucked into him this week and offered him £2  we met "halfway" at £2.50
He had a Knack with a handle that was once white too - now it's rusty stained, no hope of recovering the handle IMO, although if someone wanted it for the head, I'd go back and offer him £2 for it on anyone's behalf (I got the vibe he was a regular at the car boot I was at this week).

The Trumpers Coconut and the Injector came from alabamalawyer, the colognes were the two larger bottles amongst many samples I had ordered, the mug came from an art gallery in town--$10! very cheap for an artisan potter and I like to support local artists--and the other two razors came from the antique shop I hit up this afternoon. If you want to play "What's that Razor?", I am going to have posts up in their respective forums shortly. Oh, and I also got enough cream and balm samples to keep me in trial sizes for a good long while! Is there such a thing as Sampler AD? B/c I think I have it.

If that isn't awesome, I do not know what is :w00t:
Beautiful razor.
Every weekend you manage to top yourself Jakob. Great to see :thumbup1:
Enjoy
Thank you. We are not too many collectors here in Scandinavia, that means deals are still to be found. Unfortunally the professional e-Bay sellers here has also started sweeping the market. I have a few professional antique dealers picking up stuff for me though (deal is; I buy whatever they find as long as the stuff is not defective. Everything I already have or do not like goes into my PIF box), this Matador was found in Sweden.
Jakob, your really digging those Swedish Matador's, How do they shave.
Nice score pal.
They are apparently rather common here. They shave much like techs, a bit more agressive, but not much. This one, however, has a diffrent head, I will give at spin this evening or tomorrow morning and report back. Review of the other two here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=69844).
Regards.

thanks guys :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:
Gave the Matador a spin this evening, it is a wee bit milder than my two other (newer?) Matador's - this one shaves exactly like a tech.
Regards.

Garage Sale #1 (pic 1) got this President. It was marked 50 cents and when we went to pay the lady said a quarter. Cleaned up very nice.
The second garage sale I got this brush. Overall nice condition with a split on the back. The bottom had a pearl/mother of pearl like finish. I will most likely re-knot it. Price $1.
3rd garage sale to score at was my second visit in two days. He said he had some razors and would look for them after the rain stopped on the first day. I really wanted a wood bowl and he had this C & E soap. Box says 1978. Might be a copyright but still old. I might try the soap we shall see. Price $1. Then he came out with a bag off 4 Gillettes, a Rolls and 2 Schick. I only wanted the Gillettes. The picture is after cleaning. The black cased one is a fat handle tech (could use an answer)? No dates or numbers anyplace. The blade holder is gold so not sure if case is wrong for razor or blade holder. The red tip is A-4, Lady is o-3 and super shiny and new looking. The Fat Boy is very shiny and looks hardly used. Numbers are crisp. Case is very nice. It was hard to contain the enjoyment when he brought out the bag and I saw the case in the zip lock. Razor E-3. Price for the 4 razors. $15 YES!

That British #21 is beautiful! Congratulations.
Found a couple at an antique store at lunch. A 1918 Old type (box is in very good condition, razor hasn't been cleaned up) and a 1950 Aristocrat with a date code (more info and close-up photo in this link (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1255382&postcount=17)).

These were won/purchased last week, the Slim is a G4/birth razor, the Star is on the way. And Dave, where in the world do you find this stuff? That is a great piece of history!
