Has anyone tried this pen yet?

The filler looks like the old Schaeffer vac system (which I have and like). They say it holds a ton of ink. I've never had a Pilot, but the other Japanese nibs I've tried are freakishly smooth.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
(Note: Thanks to Richard Binder's site for the photo. (http://www.richardspens.com/?newp=nam+custom823) If you haven't already, his site is well worth checking out!)

I have not tried this pen at $280.00 its a little out of my current price range. I have been looking at the Pilot vanishing points though. Between Richards reputation and all of the really good things I have read about Japanese nibs it probably only a matter of time until I order a pen from Richard.

Fantastic pen. I have three of them (one black, one brown and one clear) and am considering getting the limited production 'amber' model from fountainpenhospital.com. (Richardspens.com is also one of my choice vendors but I'll need to ask if he has that one.)
If anyone is about to pull the trigger, if you don't already know, Japanese nibs run finer, so a Japanese medium is equivalent to an American/European fine.

I don't have one of these, but I've been interested in it for a while. I contacted a vendor in Japan about getting one with the flexible FA nib from the 743, but it raised the price a bit. Great pen!

Well, the great thing about getting it from Richardspens.com is that he is a nib guru and can customize it as you wish before sending it to you!

I didn't see them at Fountain Pen Hospital. Are they still carrying them?
Also, it looks like you can pick them up for around $200 even on ebay. Just in case you were interested.

Yep. They're on their website under Namiki/Pilot. The amber one was their pen of the month on the homepage last month.

Nice-looking pen, there.
I'm curious....I've looked at the Richard'sPens site and read about him "tuning" the nib. What exactly does that mean? I can see installing a nib and checking to assure it functions correctly, but what is tuning?

From Richard's website:, "...we tune each new pen or nib at no extra charge before shipment. We fill the pen with Waterman Blue-Black ink and write with it on paper from the same fountain pen friendly pads we sell, adjusting as necessary to bring it up to the RichardsPens.com “factory” standard for smoothness and flow."
