That set has been discussed for a while now over at SMF. There is general agreement that the wrapping could be original as celophane was used in the past. Also the the fact that the whole set is complete as described in the books. Add in that the high bidders are historical high end razor collectors and that should give you the impression that it is about as original as you can get.

If I was extremely rich, I'd buy all of these vintage/mint razors that are going for a rediculous amount of money...and use them!

I could never use a razor that cost that much... call me "comic book guy," but I shudder to think about how much value it would lose just be removing the cellophane. Especially since I don't think those Aristocrats are incredibly rare in used condition. I think the appeal of razors like that are for display in a collection rather than use -- especially since I get phenomenal shaves from average-condition vintage Gillettes I paid less than $10 for.
