I use Everyman Jack from Target.

I use Neutrogena's Transparent Facial bar. Target usually has a three pack at a pretty reasonable price.

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing bar removes the grease without drying.

There is a lot of truth to it and I do a slight variation on this as well. I make a thick lotion that is made up of 40% oils along with goat's milk and aloe juice and other great ingredients. But because mine has liquids in it I use jojoba beads to replace the sugar.

But you can make up your own scrub with some sugar and some castor oil and sunflower oil. Or olive oil and sugar would also be good.

But because your not using a preservative you need to mix this up fresh each time you do it. Simply take a tablespoon or two of sugar and add enough oil to dampen the sugar well and scrub on your face. Discard any left over sugar/oil mixture. Rinse your face. Your face will not feel oily after using it but will feel very soft and moisturized instead.

But you can also try what oil you already have in your house and i'm sure you also have sugar. So your not out anything by giving it a try.

If you wanted to take it a step further you can buy Tea Tree Oil in walmart and add a drop or two to the mixture as well before yo use it.

You could premix this but don't let any water come into contact with it. Mix it up and use a clean dry spoon to scoop some out into another container and use that. The reason is your not using a preservative and if you introduce any water mold and bacteria and yeast will grow. Not something you want on your skin. But as long as you don't introduce water your safe. you could also get some vit E caps and puncture a hole in one with a needle and squeeze that into the amount your going to use or seveal in the batch that you premade.

It really does work. This is also great for those that still get adult acne as well. (It worked for me and the occassional zits I use to get.)

This is great for the whole body as well. But be careful it will make the bottom of the tub slippery so caution needs to be used.

If that feels to oily for your skin look for an emulsified scrub. An emulsifier is a product that allows the water to mix with the oils without seperating so it rinses off easer I feel. Which is why I make mine with emulsifying wax or BTMS along with other great oils.

Anywho you don't have anything to lose by trying and chances are you already have the ingredients.

If the salt is to gritty try using baking soda instead, you will get the grit without being so harsh.

FWIW, I had no success with OCM until a regimen of accutane normalized my skin. It works fine now, but when my skin was oilier, it did nothing, despite trying different oil mixes for several months. It works for many people, but not for all.

Noxzema. No need to spend big dollars or search the internet when you can just walk down the block to a CVS.

there is whole threads and love for the OCM on here Krissy. You will be applauded before shot. Not for me though.

Cetaphil is a good choice to start with.

+1 I recently began using Noxzema in the shower prior to shaving. I like it a lot and it (and it's many cheaper store brand knock offs are available for less than $5 anywhere.

Noxzema also works great as a pre-shave lotion. Just rub some on before applying your shaving cream.

Are you saying I should let Noxzema cream my face, so the razor won't?

I use that too, good stuff. I just got some of their double action face wash and it is pretty good too. I've only used it once so I'm not sure if i like it as much as the scub yet. It smells exactly like their shaving cream though, which for me is a big plus

Started using it as a preshave, but then switched to using it as a face wash. Works great on my very oily skin. Highly recommend it. If it doesn't work for you, no worries, you are only out about $5.

Last week, I received my first order from QED. I got some of the French clay and DaVinci water, mixed up some paste, and tried it out. It was a unique experience! I'm sure it would work quite well on oily skin!

Can't go wrong with Sharps Daily Prep Foaming Face Scrub. It's like a face wash and exfoliator in one. Mild but pleasant scent. I used Jack Black face scrub which is nice but I prefer Sharps as the marble powder provides a finer and less irritating scrub.

+1 on the Noxema. The eucalyptus is extremely refreshing and keeps me from getting oily or dried out.

+1 on the oilcleansingmethod.

my mix is 1/3 Cold Pressed Castor oil (must be cold pressed not the laxative type castor) 1/3 jojoba oil and 1/3 grapeseed oil (or olive or almond or avocado depending on my mood.)

Give it two weeks of use...use it either in the morning or in the evening but not both. then dont use any other soap on your face just water...

this really does work.

also drink more water...try for a gallon of clean water per day to help skin.

there are a lot of different scrubs out there, but most will be compatible with oily skin. the sizes of particles will vary by brand, so you will have to try them out and see which one you like best. i personally use sharps scrub right now, but i have used baxter and menscience in the past with good results. use a scrub once per week in place of your cleanser.

also try applying an alcohol free toner to your skin midday if you feel oily or get sweaty. im not sure how oily your nose and forehead get, but this could cut down any greasy emissions quite nicely.

i personally use an alcohol free witch hazel based toner in the morning and then use a cleanser at night. ill only use a toner midday if i sweat or if my skin gets oily for some reason. my skin used to be oilier, but since using this method, my skin has become much more matte.

I would say raw sugar but I dont know.

Also washing the face too often with harsh products really makes the skin oilier...if that is a word. You body will over compensate for the oil that was stripped by the cleanser and thus make your face oily. I have been using the Oil cleansing method for about two months and love it now.

Save the sugar for your coffee. My wife uses plain baking soda as a cleanser. It is gentle, and mildly abrasive to act as a cleanser/exfoliator. Best part is this method is dirt cheap. I have found it useful and especially love that it won't dry you out. Give it ago.

I agree, sugar would be too abrasive for the face (my face, anyway). baking soda is good, and a weekly clay masque can also be helpful for oily skin - there are a lot of clays out there and some are more drawing than others - i'd mix a couple, maybe fuller's earth with a little bentonite and some kaolin. I like plain yogurt as the liquid. For scrubs, it's personal preference: some people like different degrees of grittiness and some prefer turbinado sugar, others use white, or a combination. Sugar and salt are both used but the sugar has the advantage of not stinging if you have a small cut or scrape.

I would never have imagined myself using a clay mask....but I saw the reviews on the QED products, so I tried it. I was surprised at how good the results were, and it feels really nice. I quickly learned that it takes a bit of work to get the dried clay off, so now I do it before showering.

Why don't you try the Clinique three step program, cleanse-exfoliate-moisturize. Clinique's scrub is also a very very good product. You can check out there site here (http://www.clinique.com/cms/product/supercat/mens.tmpl).
This has made a HUGE difference for me.

On a limited basis, I recommend Pernox. It's very scrubby (loaded with little abrasive granules) and will probably be drying if you use it daily. But for an every-now-and-again scrub, I haven't found another scrub as effective as it is. Everyday, though, I use soap and water.

My skin doesn't do well with the OCM method. I mix a tsp. jojoba with 1 tsp. cornmeal or oatmeal to make a one use scrub. Nothing to save, nothing to waste. Plus cornmeal or oatmeal is not as harsh on the skin as some of the other scrubs.

Since starting to use a brush to whip up shaving cream I have fallen into face lathering and will use to last bit of shaving cream to scub my face as I do the cold water rinse. It is a bit messy, but it feels great and I have noticed that the pores on my nose don't look as coarse and my skin looks a bit healthier. I use a variety of creams and soaps, but proraso and tom's of maine mint feel great in the summer. Just two cents.

I agree that it would, though when I was a teenager, my skin was oily enough that I could have used lacquer thinner or carburetor degreaser on my face and had an oily nose within minutes anyway. It's possible that an oil-stripping detergent wouldn't be a bad choice for some folks, provided they follow up with a light moisturizer.

ODG! Just go with a good old bar of dial anti-bac with a buff puff or sea sponge....then hit the head a couple times a day and take a damp towel to your face....

I've had a couple of breakouts just below my scalp line that occurred in spite of washing daily with Nancy Boy's face wash. I picked up a tube of The Body Shop's Ma Caca () face wash, and it seems to have done the trick.

They have a great scrub - I have a similar problem and had the slightest touch of rosacea on the sides of my nose. This product worked fantastically for me as it was gentle enough that it didn't irritate my skin but cleansed really well. Try it with their foaming face wash - Scrubs should only be used once or twice a week.
