Here's my 6/8 Dubl Duck Satinedge spike point which I picked up a while back on Ebay. It turned out to have very little hone wear on the blade, and cleaned up nicely with the Dremel and some metal polish.

The scales looked great but sadly were quite warped, so the blade touched the side when closing. Hence there was a very tiny nick on the blade.

First I sent it off for Lynn for honing, and when it came back it turned out to be a great shaver. I only shaved with it once before sending it off to Gary in New Zealand, having seen this thread which he'd posted.

I asked for a set of Black Mairei scales to me made and fitted. Originally I wanted 2-pin, but Gary decided 3-pin would look better and went with that instead, using all brass hardware. Good decision!

The finished razor looks amazing, and I'm very pleased to have something this unique. The wood for the scales is probably harder to come by than Mammoth Ivory unless you have the right contacts (like Gary). IMO this scale upgrade represents superb value for money, considering the materials used, the workmanship, and the quick turnaround.

I'm going to strop it up and have my first shave with it in about 10 minutes!

Thanks again Gary, superb job.

Wow, it's by far the best shaver I have as well! I did one pass and it was like a hot knife through butter, my other razors are good but this is a league above. After one pass it was almost as good a shave as with 2 passes of my other razors, and after a 2nd pass across the grain my face is BBS without any nicks, weepers, or razorburn.

Amazing razor. I would never sell this one at any price, even though it's worth less than a couple of others I own.

Beautirul razor. Dont most razors have the ripples on the blade as they have been folded steel and not forged?

Very nice, indeed. How much was the original from ebay?

The original razor was $40 off Ebay, I took a chance as I couldn't tell 100% from the pictures but the blade turned out to be almost unused. Even with the cost of honing by Lynn, and the custom handle, it's still under $100.

Personally I think it was well worth it, considering how good it looks and how well it shaves.
